Operatives of the Zone 2 Command have conducted a raid on criminal and kidnappers hideout in the Abeokuta area of Ogun State, recovering arms and ammunition, and killing four kidnappers in the process.

This is contained in a press statement signed by the Zone's Public Relations Officer, SP Hauwa Idris-Adamu, and made available to the National Association of Online Security News Publishers (NAOSNP).

The statement credited the success of the operation to the proactive stance of the AIG in charge of the zone, Ari Mohammed Ali, noting that "One (1) unregistered Bajaj Motorcycle, Four (4) AK47 rifles, Six (6) magazines loaded with 20 live ammunition, 10 expended ammunition were recovered."

The statement read:

"On the 6th day of May, 2023 at about 1800hrs intelligence was given to the AIG Ari Mohammed Ali fcia, that a syndicate of kidnappers who have been terrorizing Abeokuta (the capital of Ogun State) and its environs were seen somewhere suspected to be their hideout.

"Consequently, a team of Detectives from the Zonal Monitoring Unit swung into action; on sighting the Police in their hideout at a forest along Ibara Orile Ogun State, the kidnappers engaged the Detectives in a gun duel where four kidnappers were neutralized while others escaped with bullet wounds.

"Thereafter, when the hideout was later searched, One (1) unregistered Bajaj Motorcycle, Four (4) AK47 rifles, Six (6) magazines loaded with 20 live ammunition, 10 expended ammunition were recovered. Further investigation into the incident revealed that members of the syndicate were drawn from different parts of the country while some of them came from the neighboring countries of Niger and Chad respectively.

"However, efforts are on top gear to arrest the other fleeing suspects while investigation is in progress please."

This morning, shortly after the morning prayers which ended around 6.40pm, I went home, freshened up and packed the church fliers in my knapsack, ready for evangelism.

Immediately I stepped out of my house, I went straight for the ghetto in my new hood, as l had been there twice this week for recon. Boys and girls of different social stratas spend their time doing drugs, capping nonsense and learning new vices

Inviting them with the fliers in hand, one of the fine boys there was trying to make fun of me and what I was doing, but I noticed others weren't interested in his antics.

While trying to reason with him, one of the shotcallers there walked up to me, called me by name and offered me a handshake, and then he looked at the other guy (mischief maker) and hissed.

Turns out that after my earlier visits, they had taken due diligence to know who was among them.

Glory to GOD l was just like them, much has changed for me ever since l gave my life to Christ at the Living Faith Church in 2021. Circumstances soon moved me from Obawole to Ilorin in 2021, then back to Lagos, Agbado and now Abuleegba.

Even though I dunno any of them in the Abuleegba ghetto, these guys apparently know me and appreciate what GOD is doing in my life.

The Department of State Services, DSS, has invited the suspended chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Abdulrasheed Bawa.

It’s so easy to get caught up in our daily routines and responsibilities that we forget to show appreciation for the people, things, and experiences we have.

Because as Emerson said, everything (good and bad) in our life contributes to who we are and where we are in life. This is something I didn’t appreciate until recently, to be honest with you.

I thought, “I’m a grateful person. I say thank you a lot.” But that’s not enough. When I was reading Emerson, I finally realized I was NOT grateful for many things in my life. I’m glad I realized it now.

In this article, I share some of the important things I’ve underestimated in my life for way too long, and how appreciating these lessons made me happier.

1. Where you grew up & live now
I grew up in a city called Leeuwarden, in the north of The Netherlands. I was always the only non-white kid in my class. In the 90s, the percentage of non-white people was around 5%.1
During my childhood and teens, the city had a population of around 100,000. I always complained about our city. No diversity, too small, no big business, no career opportunities.
While our city has grown and has become a bit more diverse, it’s still a traditional Dutch city. And this is something I appreciate a lot now.

Growing up with Dutch values has made a big impact on the way I view the world. People here are hard workers, honest, direct, and frugal. These are common traits that almost everyone lives by. And I love that.
Everyone has their own story and upbringing. Whether it’s good or bad, it’s who you are. Never run from it. Appreciate it. Use it. But never let it box you in.
I know people who grew up in hard circumstances and still made something out of their lives. They used their hardship as a strength. We can all do that, no matter where we come from. Just don’t run from it. Escaping is not the answer. Embrace it.

2. The power of your mind
If I look at how I live my life now compared to several years ago, I feel much stronger mentally. I feel that way every year because I keep training my mind.
I remember getting so swayed by my emotions whenever something “bad” happened to me. And I say “bad” because I never had something really bad.
Like many other people, I hardly ever got what I wanted. And if we don’t get what we want, we get emotional. If I experienced setbacks, I wanted to give up.
I even had it with my writing career. I started in 2015 and it wasn’t until 2018 that I was earning a good living. Before that, I often thought, “Screw this thing. I’m doing something else.”
We all get discouraged. Especially because it seems like EVERYONE else is successful. The other day I saw a post that said something like, “How I make $200,000 a month from online courses.” For a second, I thought, “What? I want that too.”
Then I thought, “Screw that guy. I love my life.”

That’s the power of your mind. No matter where you are in life and how you feel, trust me, things will get better.
Your mind is more powerful than you think. That’s something we must never forget to appreciate.

3. The mistakes you’ve made
Every single mistake you made or bad thing that has happened in your life has shaped you. The question is: Are those things improving you or hurting you?
Let it be the former. Let your mistakes be teachers.
It took me a long time to appreciate my mistakes. Because the things I saw as mistakes were not mistakes. They were lessons in disguise.
This is not just some motivational talk. When I started my first business out of grad school, I thought I made a mistake by not pursuing a traineeship at a corporation.
When I worked at a corporation in London I thought I made a mistake by trying to climb the corporate ladder instead of being my own boss.
When I started my writing career, I thought it was a mistake to leave the corporate world to focus on an endeavor with such a low success rate.
But hey, none of those things were really mistakes. I learned and everything made an impact on me.

4. Wind, rain, cold, and “bad” weather
You know I grew up in The Netherlands. So you also know it rains a lot and it’s cold the majority of the year.
For my entire life, I hated that. I complained about the weather a lot. When I stopped complaining several years ago, I said, “I will move to Spain. At least I will have better weather.”
So I tried to live in Spain. I didn’t like it. Too warm. Different culture. Far from my family and friends.
You see, the weather is never perfect. When I was in Spain, I was surprised to see so many people complaining about how warm it was. “Man, it’s so warm I can’t even work without cranking up the AC, which is expensive.”
When I came back to NL, I had a different mindset. I said, “Man, I love the seasons. When it’s cold, I look forward to the warmer weather. And vice versa.”
It’s about your perspective. Just appreciate the weather for what it is. Especially if you live in a place that’s cold. It’s actually pretty nice.

6. TIME
You can look at the concept of time in different ways. You’re probably thinking I’m going to give you the same old story of, “Time is limited.” We know that already.
What I underappreciated for a long time is that time can be your friend. There are a lot of things in life that need time.
Learning skills
Developing a career
Building wealth
Becoming a balanced person
The power of compounding in those areas is crazy. Tiny actions add up over time and lead to HUGE results.
Read for one hour a day. Get better at your work. Save and invest at least 10% of your income every month. Live your life according to philosophy.
If you do those things consistently, time will bring you everything you ever asked from life.
And I mean everything. The problem is that people give up too early. They want to get rich and successful but think results should come within a few years.
You need way more time than that for most good things in life. If you give yourself that time without getting frustrated, you will be better off.
That’s not a matter of IF, it’s a matter of WHEN.

One of the videos of Chief MKO Abiola GCFR, during the struggle of annulment June 12 election shared on WhatsApp platform of “Renewed Hope for Islanders 2025”, which l watched on Saturday morning sparked and pricked my conscience.

It says, "It will continue on and off until the military release June 12 election results and put a democratically elected President who is myself (MKO Abiola).”

On the platform, the pioneer and first council leader of Lagos Island local government, City Hall, Lagos in 1999, torch-bearer for Renewed Hope 2025, and current vice chairman of Lagos Island LG, Prince Muhammed Rosul Eshilokun commented on the video that, since June 12, Asiwaju has been on the struggle for democracy in Nigeria.

He added that his emergence as the 16th President of Federal Republic of Nigeria indicates that the “Hope 93 of MKO Abiola came alive with Renewed Hope 2023 for Nigeria."

According to him, "with the emergence of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the hope mantra of Chief MKO Abiola, GCFR in 1993 is now actualized with renewed Hope in 2023".

The torch-bearer for Renewed Hope 2025, using the platform shared that Nigeria has a lot to celebrate with 24 years of uninterrupted democracy and its citizens reaping dividends of civil rule while especially feciliating with people of Lagos Island where the struggle of democracy began.

Captured in this article is my submission on the efforts made by current vice chairman Lagos Island local government, Rosul Eshilokun that “The Actualization of Democracy Day Come to Pass” and actively created a platform geared towards an agenda for the people of Lagos Island local government under this dispensation of Bola Ahmed Tinubu Administration.

In my recent posts on the current situation of the country, I asked, Rosul Eshilokun on a telephone conversation and still ask, why instances of Renewed Hope to a layman on the street of Lagos, he rhetorically responds that rekindle hope of Nigeria for better Nigerians expected simple things: affordable lifestyle, regular electricity, good roads, schools, shelters, hospitals, revamp economy and security which he believes President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will deliver; this is Nigeria and looking forward to keying into this in our locality, especially on Lagos Island in the future.

I have no doubt, this government believes democracy is about the people (the demos; the popular masses) and Mr President will continue to work in actualization of the policies that benefit the masses.

On celebrations of this year's anniversary, June 12, worth singsong of joy of an Era of Renewed Hope.

Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) have arrested three suspects, all members of a one-chance gang, operating along Oshodi–Gbagada Expressway, Lagos, National Association of Online Security News Publishers, NAOSNP can report. 
The suspects had abandoned their operational vehicle, a Suzuki mini bus popularly called ‘korope’ at Gbagada area of Oshodi-Oke along Gbagada–Oshodi Expressway, on April 14, 2023 when RRS operatives accosted them while trying to drop off a victim.
Investigation revealed that the suspects had earlier hijacked the operational vehicle at gunpoint at Ketu bus stop, Lagos-Badagry Expressway, Ojo sometime in February and the incident was reported at Ijanikin Police Divisional Headquarters.

The suspects, Wale Ajayi ‘m’ aged 24, Abideen Saka ‘m’ aged 26 and Oliseh Sunday aka Bobwhiskey ‘m’ aged 29, who were later arrested at their hideout following weeks of intensive investigation have since been arraigned and remanded.

Rosul Eshilokun in a statement released described this position for Meranda Ojora, the first female deputy speaker in Lagos state as commendable, well-deserved and expressed confidence that she will bring experience and depth of knowledge in assisting the Speaker of the house to have robust legislative business.

In his words: “I fecilitate with you on your emergence as Deputy Speaker. I am certain that this added responsibility will strengthen and further the legislative Sygney in the 10th Assembly.”

IGP ALKALI MEETS STRATEGIC POLICE MANAGERS, EMPHASIZES PRESIDENTIAL DIRECTIVE ON INTER-AGENCY COLLABORATION

Leveraging on the need to bring Strategic Police Managers abreast of the policy thrust of the newly inaugurated President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, particularly the President’s directive on effective inter-agency collaboration for a synergized internal security architecture and addressing topical security issues in the country, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, CFR, met with Senior Police Officers of the rank of Deputy Inspectors-General of Police (DIGs), Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs), and Commissioners of Police at the Peacekeeping Hall, Force Headquarters Abuja on Monday 5th June, 2023.

During the Conference, the IGP tasked the Strategic Police Managers to build on the quantum of achievements recorded within the months of January to May, 2023, particularly the successful democratic transitioning of 29th of May, 2023, and develop proactive mechanisms for effective control of prevailing and projected threats across the country, including the aftermath of the fuel subsidy removal with the emerging threat of industrial strike action, and to forestall any untoward acts from political and non-political actors. He stressed that all hands must be on deck to maintain the needed peace and stability of our democracy even as we prepare for Democracy Day celebrations on June 12, while all peaceful protests must be managed professionally.

Similarly, the IGP noted that within the review period, a total of 1,630 criminal cases were recorded cutting across major offences such as Terrorism, Secessionism, Kidnapping, Armed Robbery, Banditry, and proliferation of firearms. During various police operations, 3,619 suspects were arrested, 486 firearms and 4,072 ammunition of various calibres were recovered. A total of 316 kidnapped suspects were rescued unhurt.

The IGP observed that deserving officers will in due course be elevated on the basis of merit and vacancy as is customary. He added that within the review period, 31,465 Rank and File have been promoted to their next ranks while thousands of Inspectors due for promotion are currently attending Departmental Selection Boards for promotion to the rank of Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs). Meanwhile, the IGP addressed the prevailing trend of criminalizing civil matters by some Police Officers noting that such professional infractions, despite repeated warnings, will attract severe disciplinary actions and sanctions such that the burden of garnishee orders will rest solely on the individuals involved in such malpractices. He also charged supervising officers to caution officers under their command against unprofessionalism, extortion, etc, and to establish and maintain a Human Rights Desk at all Police Commands for seamless reportage of violations of fundamental rights by officers in order to address incidences of rights violation.

The Inspector-General of Police assures law-abiding citizens of the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to a peaceful and serene civil space even as the Force continually sustains the framework for the salient crime-busting achievements vital to securing our great nation. He also stressed that the NPF will continually leverage on the Federal Government’s support even as the internal security dynamics are re-evaluated and strategies adapted towards ensuring that the current downward trend in crime across the country is sustained.

Women Empowerment: Olori Janet Afolabi gives new batch of traders free interest loan

Olori Janet Afolabi, Queen of Apomu Kingdom,has given fresh set of market women free interest loan.The loan was given to them on June 2, at Alapomu Palace Hall, Apomu, headquarters of Isokan local government area of Osun state.
The money will be paid back over five months.

Addressing the women,Olori Janet said they should use the money for the purpose for which it was given. She said the money is meant to help them expand their petty businesses or start new ones.
The 50 women were randomly selected and shortlisted by Women Leaders in the community, led by the highest female Chief,Christiana Akinlabu, the Otun Iyalode of Apomu Kingdom.

Olori Janet said empowering the women is crucial for ending hunger and poverty in the rural communities. " Poverty eradication is key to helping women escape poverty. Many of the world's poorest people are women.Empowering them is essential not just for rural but national development."

The free interest loan was initiated by Olori Janet Afolabi in 2020 because after the Covid 19 lock down many women were unable to resume their trading businesses. Most of them had spent their capital. Some of them made efforts to borrow money from families and friends but it was very difficult.
To help these women start again Olori Janet said" I came up with the No Collateral, No Interest Loan as my flagship empowerment project".
