Agriculture / Re: Pls, Can I Cover A Greenhouse With Ordinary Thick Polythene by DeKen: 11:28pm On Nov 01, 2017

Really, this is a tough one. Since I did not just buy the nethouses from a supplier, it made it expensive a bit for just making one greenhouse. I bought nets separately, frame srparately, accesories separately etc. It was not economical to jusy make one unit like thst. I had to make 10 units and I had to dig deep to get fellow farmers who bought so we can share the burden.

I did not have the luxury of having different sizes cos of this reason so we had 500 square meters size. 33 ft × 164ft each. Each was approximately 3.8 million naira. Price depends on forex. Though, i can decide to make it cheaper by using cheaper materials or even make it more expensive by using better qualities. Anyway, what we used are reasonably ok.

It made sense making minimum of 10 instead of one. Making just one, the cost will run over 4.5 million and there will be left over unused materials. Shipping cost is not worth it too for just only one. For me, it is pure waste of resources. I had to convince some farmers. It was a tough one. Next time i am doing it, i will make sure i have the cash for the minimum reasonable units with best price. It is not funny trying to convince people.
Thanks fluentinfor. Your info is still very helpful. At least one has some rough idea. But can't those imported materials be sourced locally?
And more particularly what is the type of material used for the top cover and any idea on what that alone cost per unit? And would you mind adding pics of your finished greenhouse?

Unfortunately, I do not. I import and install only for my business. I do not sell and I do not consult. I just know my contributions here will help many people.
How about giving rough estimates on what it cost to build your own and what capacity and materials were involved.

Politics / Re: Breaking: I’ll Appoint More Ministers Soon – Buhari by DeKen: 6:44pm On Oct 31, 2017
Is there really need for more ministers? Will appointing more add value to the nation? Is it all about settling party members at the expense of the nation? They will easily yield to pressure to please politicians while going against their campaign promise but to fulfill campaign promises to please the people is asking for too much.

Squirrels are believed to plant millions of trees every year. And trees are very important to the ecosystem. Talk about production of Oxygen and elimination of Carbon IV oxide. Talk about tackling global warming. Not to talk about also providing food.

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: For Those That Want To Work In Dangote Take A Look by DeKen: 3:33pm On Oct 30, 2017
I don't understand Nigerians with sense of entitlement. You saw a Job opening, applied for it, you got an offer and you accepted it only to later complain that you deserve more because someone else on a similar Job is earning more somewhere else. Why not just resign and apply where they are paying more? While your employer may be exploiting you by paying too little, your employer is not government and you have the choice to quit. Simple. It is not by force. If there is no one accepting to work for that amount they'll have no choice than to improve the pay.

I'm surprised that the APC has not been able to tie some loot to this lone opposition figure and shut him up for ever. How can one lone wolf deal so much with the all mighty Anti-Corruption Saintly change government? If this man should dare enter this country, I'm sure he'll end up in Jail for hate speech. Lol

Politics / Re: Kogi State Buys 300 Pages Of Newspaper To Publish Salaries Of Civil Servants by DeKen: 10:27pm On Oct 28, 2017
If truly he is paying and has paid up to date, maybe it's not a bad idea to find a way to provide prove against the fake news that discredits him. Not sure this is the best way to go about it. But it could be really painful and he may be trying to embarrass the civil servants since they have refused to debunk the fake news (if actually it is fake news).

I remember a similar situation where the Labour Unions in Akwa Ibom State went on strike and printed fliers with a caption "Rich State Poor Civil servants", giving explanation that they were worse paid than their counterparts in the Niger Delta region. Then Gov. (Akpabio) called a town hall meeting with the Labour Union leaders and traditional rulers and aired it live on TV. He mentioned the amounts paid to the civil servants of various positions esp. the top level and challenged them to confirm from other states. He promised that if there is any other state aside Rivers State (which has much more revenue than Akwa Ibom) that pays more than Akwa Ibom, then he will match what that state pays. He even offered to sponsor their cost of touring the various states. That was the end of the strike and till date no such comparison or protest anymore.

If he has done his part, he needs to counter the fake news. But if he hasn't, then he is setting the stage to embarrass himself even more. Meanwhile, why can't the civil servants go on strike if they are not paid?

Family / Re: Mother In Law Wants My 2.5 Year Old To Sleepover by DeKen: 9:48pm On Oct 27, 2017
Mudley313:
Abeg, I need some advice concerning this matter

Me and my wife just quarreled because her mother asked for our only daughter who is two and half to sleep at her place and I said NO because I was not too comfortable with the idea. My wife is an only daughter and the mother is single with no husband or boyfriend. We give her all the time she wants alone with our child but she just seems obsessed with having her alone for a sleepover and my body no catch dat one. Her reason is she wants to bond more and she was very close with her own garandma blah, blah, blah. But this woman has been very manipulative in me and her daughters relationship in the past because they're abnormally close. Although she has pipped down a bit, I just don't want to create an opening for her to start that with my own daughter cos why would she insist for an all-night? what is wrong with spending time during the day time? what's so special about night time? Is it just to be able to have total control?

Anyway, I go appreciate una feedback and advice well well if anyone here have experienced such before and I don't want to come out looking like I'm overreacting

P.S. By the way, my wife na oyinbo, so I just wanna gather a proper naija perspective on the matter. Thank you in advance!
This is a tough call. I understand this kind of concern. If it is an option, I will suggest you have your wife go along with your child. I hope that can make a difference.
