Unfortunately he now lives abroad on medical grounds. The amount voted for the presidential clinic is more than that of all tertiary hospitals combined, yet the clinic can't function enough for his treatment. While I partially agree to the fact that dropping names we are used to doesn't come easy as I can vividly relate to Indomie,Maggi and NEPA. I'm just getting to know that the other product names are also generalized for similar brands.

But I can remember that Airtel had several other names in the past and the current name had been generally accepted. Not sure how many will remember that Airtel was once Econet and later VMobile. At each time, we got used to the prevailing name after a while. I believe with time the company will push the new name properly and many will find it hard to recall the old name.

If I were driving overseas and commit a certain type of offence where my vehicle isn't impounded, what applies is that the Officer issues a ticket, enters my record into their Database and sends me on my way. Now all I have to do is go pay the fine or contest it in court. Once I pay the fine, that record is cleared.

Here is why i say it's nonsense. Imagine you are doing a commute from Lagos to Port-Harcourt which essentially takes you through (Lagos - Ogun- Edo - Delta - Anambra - Imo - Rivers or Bayelsa depending on which route you use), and you get a ticket in Edo. That means after paying your fine upon arrival in Rivers State, you would have to go back to Edo State to clear yourself. Then what is the point of the "FEDERAL" in their name.

Please create a thread with the full post so that it can be pushed to the front page. Maybe it will get the attention of those that matter. It is too bad that one has to take so much pain/stress for some little infraction just because of a faulty system.

Look at the huge potentials they have. Restructuring is really necessary for everyone to focus and maximize their own potentials.

Just spoke to my cousin who lives at that junction. Just as I suspected, it is his Mum's shop.

He said the accident occurred around 1:00am and that it is a very common incident, most of which occur at night. The last accident at the junction is barely a month ago. The roads leading to the round about at that junction are slightly elevated than the junction such that when there is poor visibility (esp. at night) drivers may not notice they are approaching a round about until it's too late.
That junction is a dead trap that needs urgent attention. There should be speed breakers/ bumps while approaching the junction. Even though this one has not claimed any life some of the accidents do. My cousin says FRSC and the closest police station have written severally to govt to do something about the Junction but no action has been taken yet.

Unfortunate.

Those Garri sellers have Union and the union dictates the price to their advantage
If the government doesn't implement price, control we'll just continue to suffer.

I won't dispute the fact that market unions can capitalize on situations to their advantage, but have you wondered why they would choose to do so with such drastic increase at this time? Do you realize that when there is scarcity in a particular part of the country some dealers will go to markets in other states that they don't normally go to for supply? When there is surge in demand in those places that there were no attacks, there is bound to be increase in price (Simply demand and supply economics). About a week ago, my Aunt who sells foodstuff said her supplier came back from her purchase trip empty, not even a single bag to buy. At the time the price got up by about 30%, but it has come down a bit, but still on the high side.

When the herdsmen attack went on so long without being checked, I had feared this will be the outcome and I'm not surprised. It even made me to start a farm in my state which does not yet have attacks. I just pray it remains so.

Instead of dealing with the herdsmen problem, you are advocating price control? Do you realize that with the risk now involved in farming if the price is not favorable most people will run away from farming? Would you also force the farmers to plant?

Guy this really sounds strange. Your Dad may just be selfish as someone suggested. But I'm surprised that your mum seems to support this. Are your parents having issues? Could it be that he is seeing another woman as that sometimes makes some men not to care about the children from their previous relationship. But your mum agreeing with him is a surprise though. Saying he is waiting for his death is another thing that shouldn't be taken lightly. Is he suffering depression? Is he still in his right state of mind?

And you siblings seem to like the idea of not being a brother's keeper. Is there bitterness in the family?
