EzeUche:
Maybe, I am just fed up with the lack of development in Abia State.

Driving from Umuahia to Aba can be quite treacherous with all those police checkpoints and those huge potholes. It is a disgrace.

Abia State is a mess. I have come to the conclusion that PPA is the main culprit. Lack of development means businesses are not being attracted to come to the state.

In Arochukwu, people can go without power for TWO WEEKS! We dey suffer o!

That is why my family has always supported PDP when it comes to state politics.
Nwanne, nda mgbe iruru ulo? O dikwala anya ka mgbe ukwu m ruru ulo oh.

tpiah:
any evidence to prove these soldiers arent in fact from the north?

i thought people were complaining about nigerians not being allowed to claim their states of birth rather than state of their parents' origin.

now you have northerners with Igbo names, does that automatically mean they're not ethnically Igbo? huh
Tell me one northerner that will claim Imo or Abia as his/her state even if he/she was born there. This is a clear case of shortchanging Eastern States and it has nothing to do with states of birth or state of parent's origin. That army chief dude should be fired jor!!!
PoliticsRe: Abia 2011: Kalu Backs Brother For Governorship by delegiwa(m): 2:06pm On Jun 15, 2010
@EzeUche,

The truth is that we (yes I am Aro too) are not ready to do anything about the Orjilization of Abia State just yet.  Whenever we are ready, the place will be too hot for Orji, his mum and his boys.  There is no point shouting because his fellow politicians are not ready too.

Do you remember Arthur Nzeribe?  Do you remember what happened to his "everlasting" hold on Orlu Senatorial Zone when boys remembered him?

I am sure you know what happened.
SportsRe: Samuel Eto’o Spends $1.3m On Designer Watches For Teammates by delegiwa(m): 9:33am On Jun 09, 2010
My fellow NLanders,

Let us get this thing straight! Eto' made his team mates a promise of a customized watch gift if they qualify for the world cup. The contentious watch gift in question is just in fulfilment of that promise and I don't think anyone should question that.

Another thing that caught my fancy on this topic is how people think Eto' would've used the money to feed the poor and build homes for the homeless or share it amongst old women in his village. They are all laudable but what is wrong is fulfilling a promise? Let us leave the guy alone jor. He has tried,

I nearly fainted oh.  My wife and I went to Obudu Cattle Ranch for our honey moon.  We went by road, as we felt we needed the sightseeing.  However, the distance left a bad taste in our and we decided to fly on our return leg.

Guys, it wasn't funny oh.  You know the type of plane that flies that Obudu - Calabar - all those small propeller planes.  The noise was horrible, and on top of that, the thing was losing altitude like crazy.  In fact at one time, the altitude loss lasted for like 6 seconds and in that period, I regretted ever getting on a plane.  Meanwhile, my wife was having fun,

It wasn't funny oh.
TravelRe: South Africa World Cup 'snubbed By Foreign Fans' by delegiwa(m): 1:24pm On Jan 29, 2010
I have no single respect for anybody, group of persons, organisations or any of such be it from UK, Germany, US or somewhere in Antarctica spews trash about another just for monetary gains (I suspect this is what the negative press is all about anyways). Fifa, having condemned this in strongest terms should be followed up by Mandela and Tutu and the rest of Africa. This needs to stop immediately.

However, if every fair-skinned man/woman on this earth will decide not to attend the world cup, then we all will make it the most memorable world cup ever.

BTW, where is safe again? US, Uk, Deustchland? Whoosai?
SportsRe: Nigeria Vs Ghana [0 - 1] by delegiwa(m): 1:03pm On Jan 29, 2010
RSA:
My dear friends I am not hear to put salt in your wound, but as host of the biggest sporting event in the world,I want Nigeria to go far in the championship. Here are my advises to you, take it or live it,use it or don't use it(it could be a nice song eh? cool)

Number 1.Somebody must report Amodu a terorist or someone who has a connection with that Yemen boy, therefore he is connected to Bin Laden, and he is a security threats. This will deny him the opportunity to enter South Africa, even if NFF don't fire him.

Number 2. Select 14 boys from your under seventeen(this is their time most of them are around 25 so they're at their prime) and put them in a five months camp somewhere in South Africa and later add two goalkeepers,Yobo in defence and that leftback(I thought he was good),in the middle Kaita and Obi and forward Ike,Odimwingi.
Now you have a team that will never stop running, that have hunger, and together with Naija arrogance(in Nigeria I think you call it Swagger wink)  you could go far.

Number 3. Please, please don't hire a white coach,I mean there are 200 millions of you,and also don't hire Sia Sia I think he is overated and non archiver yet.Hire someone with experience like Stephen Keshi,I think he is ready now.

Good luck, and please buy tickets, apparently this european are dumping us grin.So we need this tournament to be the blackest ever grin
So that for the next hundred years(cause I dont think they will give it to us again anytime soon this baaasterts) we could still be sitting there still smilling grin
Guy, this is the very first time you've made sense to me ever and I humbly admit that you are not far away from the truth even thoiugh you are actually adding salt our wound.

Can we focus here?

PoliticsRe: How Can Nigeria Sanction The Us? What Do We Have That The US Will Possibly Want? by delegiwa(m): 8:49am On Jan 07, 2010
Guys, I don't think there is any need to start fighting over what the American said. We all know he has some valid points. My personal opinion is that Nigeria needs to get herself to a position of influence. Yes, that influence we used to have during the 80s and 90s. Even a blind Nigerian can feel our lack of influence on international matters and this is cause by the serious slide of our economy and infrastructure. The companies are moving to Ghana and other neighbouring countries. Even our dear Glo has been working from Ghana for the past 18 months even though not many of us are aware of this.

Let us get our economy working again and refurbish our infrastructure and then we can start talking. First things first pls.

I prefer the Eagles to be naked and get to the 1/4 Finals and beyond grin than wear the best jersey and crash out during the group games.  BTW, the jersey rocks.

That reminds me of one (Igbo) song we used to sing during my childhood days when the next street boys will file out in fine jerseys and we will all burst out singing " Iche na jersey ga akuru gi ball?" grin

- Its only someone who does not want to learn by himself or herself that takes pride in being taught by someone representing something he or she is trying to criticise.

- Who the heck are you . . . let me guess grin grin grin you are going to claim that you are a probably not a muslim right . . . . cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy . . . very funny.

Islam is evil pure and simple . . . there is nothing to be taught .

ISLAM AND ITS LIES SPEAK FOR ITSELF.
If you apply the same fervour you are displaying on this thread in your personal life, I'm sure you'd be a better person. Tolerance my dear, tolerance.

auwal87:
Stoning the devil is symbolic, it doesn't mean that the devils feels pain physically, but of course effects your faith as a Muslim that you have done away with the evils with you. Take for an instance, Satan is there watching them stoning the Jamrat, wouldn't he must remember the day that Prophet Abraham stoned at him at the exact same location.

"When he [Abraham] left Mina and was brought down to (the defile called) al-Aqaba, the Devil appeared to him at Stone-Heap of the Defile. Gabriel said to him: “Pelt him!” so Abraham threw seven stones at him so that he disappeared from him. Then he appeared to him at the Middle Stone-Heap. Gabriel said to him: “Pelt him!” so he pelted him with seven stones so that he disappeared from him. Then he appeared to him at the Little Stone-Heap. Gabriel said to him: “Pelt him!” so he pelted him with seven stones like the little stones for throwing with a sling. So the Devil withdrew from him."

Please people you should be honest of yourself, it is history that you cannot change, so you must believe on what it is about or totally ignore it.

Back to the death of Pilgrims, there are more than 2 million people going to Hajj every year, they spent an average of 2 weeks there, if you look at the size of the area it is clear to you that it is normal for such stampede to happen. Honestly the authorities are trying to safeguard the lives of the Hajjis, every year they make changes that will enhance the Hajj process and improve safety.

All in all, it is all about faith, many Hajjis have been praying to go to Hajj and die there, not a suicide though, but just a hope.

I wish all Hajjis a safe return to their homes.
I must say your post is very enlightening and I like the tone too. Since we are all scholars I can say you've taught some of us something about your religion and that is how it should be instead of the usual all out fight that has taken over this thread.
PoliticsRe: Know The Documents Police Should Ask For At Checkpoints! by delegiwa(m): 12:13pm On Dec 03, 2009
fellis:
Who has gone to the site? I went there and I did not see the list of required documents the OP talked about. OP please paste a direct link.
Same here oh. I've been browsing the police site since morning and didn't get nuffing!

I used to have that printout attached to my set of car documents and it saved my day on one June afternoon in 2007 @ Aba. My wife to be and I had gone shopping in Aba for our wedding and one over-bleached policewoman stopped us some where in Eziukwu Road and demanded for my papers and I obliged only for her to demand for my "Road Worthiness Certificate". I reminded her that my car is not a commercial vehicle as only commercial vehicles are mandated to have one. The lady became redder in a fit of feigned annoyance and accused me of trying to teach her her job.

She told me that the two ways to settle the matter were as follows:

1. Wait till she "apprehends" a private vehicle that has one just to confirm to me that private vehicles are mandated to have it too
2. Come with her to the station so that her DPO can "explain better"

At this point, I showed her the printout from the Police website (I printed the stuff on a powerful laserjet colour printer) and the woman at first claimed that I could've printed it from anywhere for all she cared but I made her know that what I had in my hand was from the IG's office unless she was saying that the IG wasn't saying the truth.

Na so the woman just turn around and said something like "if not for that fine lady you are carrying, you would've followed me to the station today since u sabi book pass an officer.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: HiTV Wins Another Bid For EPL Right Till 2013 by delegiwa(m): 5:42pm On Nov 24, 2009
I recall how grainy DSTV used to be in those very early days and we still kept faith with them. As the years rolled by, more channels were added and the pictures became clearer and it got to what it is now. We paid all what we were asked to pay from then till date. HiTV is not up 4 yrs and I'm sure the quality of their pictures will improve in due course. I suggest we give them a little more time to get their acts together.

, and I am so happy for them!

Would have reeled out all those statistics if we had lost to Kenya thereby not going to the WC? You are only saying all these because we qualified. We are not expecting much from them - win when you must win and draw when you must. Don't get a draw when a win is necessary. Is that too much of an expectation?
