We4all: Boss ke? As if he will keep quiet if Eazi treats his daughter like an employee. One thing I have observed about Nigerian marriages is that, men will treat you according to your status. There is no way in hell will Eazi boss over Temi knowing full well what awaits him. All that advice from Otedola is just a misyarn, and for social media validation. It's the usual advice given by omoluabi parents. It's a way of making a bride understand the best way of keeping her home. Humility, respect and cooperation are important. That doesn't mean that they won't support her if the man misbehaves. |

Bus Stop renaming is a minor issue. He can have another one named after him some day. The lives he ruined are irreparable. |

A child's brain develops over time. Phones and similar electronic gadgets are believed to cause distractions for kids and they impact negatively on their development. More especially, they're so addictive and there's a limit to what the parents can control. Except if you're with the child 24/7. |

We have reported this issue to the land owners from which we all bought the land , but the owner of the illegal building refuse to adhered to their instructions to remove the building or create an access road for for easy passages. He is insisting that is only the State Government of Local council that he will listen to. The illegal building did not only blocked the street, it also blocked the drainage causing a lot of flood to owners of building behind him once rain fall. We are seeking government intervention on this issue as we the owners of the affected lands do not want to take laws in our hand.

OPICANTO2223: It doesn't make sense. This man is having oral diarrhea. I wonder who gave him the knowledge to spew thrash. I believe Alaafi is the custodian of Yoruba culture, while Ooni is a highly political throne created to demystify great Oyo empire The Alaafin was the political head by virtue of an empire but the Oyo of the old Oyo empire no longer exists. That empire fell and most parts of Yorubaland today never paid tributes to the Alaafin or they freed themselves after a while. E.g. the Egbas, Ijebus and Ekiti/Ondo axis. Ife has always been the orisun (origin) and spiritual headquarters of the Yorubas. Ooni is known as arole Oduduwa (the representative of Oduduwa. Ife has remained in the same location unlike Oyo. Oranmiyan who became Alaafin was a descendant of Oduduwa who is regarded as the ancestor of Yorubas. If only the Alaafin can maintain peace with the Ooni as Alaafin Adeyemi did, there'll be greater peace and more progress in Yorubaland. |

IkeAnumudu: Everyone is beginning to have had enough of this Alaafin.
To imagine that I really used to like him so much because of the way he carries himself and is scarce at parties, unlike His Majesty, the Ooni.
However, this troublesomeness and continued embarrassment of the Yorubas, by the Alaafin, is very much unbecoming.
Everyone is now realising that the Ooni might have his faults, with endless party attendance and shaking of hands like a schoolboy, yet he seems more peaceable and better for the progress of Yorubaland than an Alaafin who’s courting trouble everyday and embarrassing the Yoruba Race everyday. Honestly, it's unexpected of him and so embarrassing. He should leave Ooni alone and focus on developing his town. |

Just saying you know.. the one we read in history.. the Oyo controls all activities including slave trade, military control, etc.. Where's the empire today? Who still pays ishakole to Alaafin? Is Oyo today the actual site at the time of the empire? The reality is that it's time to move on. Both kings are important. They should work together for the progress of Yorubas instead of this unnecessary bickering. The late Alaafin did not disrespect the Ooni in any way. They were cordial. |

Making him an ambassador doesn't necessarily translate to paying him for the role. In cases like this, he'll render FREE services to the organisation by creating awareness of aviation rules.
It's actually a subtle form of punishment. Same was done with Naira Marley though people criticised NDLEA for that.
Hopefully, the aviation staff training will make a difference in the performance of cabin crew and airport security staff henceforth. |

Slytiger: Charlie Boy Does not Deserve a Bus Stop in Lagos
My name is Mrs Ebunola Adebusoye. I'm the Deputy Women leader of Indigenous Lagos Teachers Association
I write this in my personal opinion. My group has not authorised me to do this on its behalf, but I have to do it after consultation with the Lagos General Secretary, at least to avoid organisational discipline. I'm happy I was given to go-ahead to write my own personal opinion.
I speak on the reigning issue of the renaming of Charly Boy Bus Stop in Lagos to Badoo Bus stop, an exercise executed by the Chairman, Bariga LCDA.
First of all, I thank the Chairman for living up to the expectations of the people of Gbagada where Charles Oputa, alias Charly Boy also referred to as Area Father lived and tormented the residents for many years. As a Lagos indigene and from the Royal home, we are proud of what the Chairman did.
At 65 and as a retired School teacher, I have a sense of what morality means.
Having a Bus Stop with the name Charly Boy is an attempt to glorify immorality of the highest order.
Firstly, Area Father never had a Bus Stop allocated to him at Gbagada. When he moved here many years ago, the first thing he did was to pull down the existing Bus Stop signpost which was second Pedro named after a prominent Lagos family that had put in sweat and blood to the growth, fame and rise of Lagos.
Charly Boy was never officially allocated any Bus Stop. That is the truth. Calling the place Charly Boy was his own creation.
Secondly, Charly boy lived in this area as as a little beast. He tormented the residents, turned the place into a jungle, a hub for hard drugs including cocaine and hooliganism. I lived close to him for about 5 years. Myself and my husband had to relocate to Ikorodu because of this nuisance.
He was an extremely bad influence on youths and the core values of Yoruba.
I recall his attack on a 70 year old Mr Akinyemi who challenged his rascality. He ordered his thugs to beat up the old man who he stripped naked.
I recall the children of this old man who came to challenge him were also beaten up.
These actions if taken in any civilised world would have been challenged by the relevant authority and Charly Boy would have been sent to jail.
He was contemptuous of Yoruba people who he derided and insulted so often.
He has no respect for the tradition and values of his host.
He owed his landlord 7 years rent which he never paid. The landlady, a Yorubaland woman died of hypertension
Charly Boy converted the rented apartment into a studio that his wife managed. He pulled down the fence and converted the building to his own shape.
He would insult and harrass the woman, playing music all day and all night. The woman died.
People who support Charly Bus stop should tell us what single contributions he made to Lagos or to the people of Gbagada. Monuments should be named after heroes not hooligans and common criminals.
We hereby caution and warn those who think they can continue to spit on Lagos heritage to beware of the wrath of our ancestors and at the fullness of time, we shall challenge them BY ALL MEANS NECESSARY. Hmmm! Another angle. BTW, if Anambra renamed streets bearing Ebonyi names and people didn't complain, why is there so much hullabaloo over the one done in Lagos? Funny thing is that the names may change again some years down the line. |
