The most important thing with gaming is the Grahics card. Make sure you get something that has dedicated graphics memory.

aydewale, did u submit personally or by courier. more than 45 working days is too long.
I have to agree with you. 45working days is quite a stretch. I'd be more inclined to visit the embassy at this point (again) and perhaps send them emails with a file number (if you have one).

@ Adewale

My brother I tire too!!!
Why can't the embasy employ local nigerians to assist with the verification?? Subjecting someone to a 4 months wait for a study permit while his documents and passport are kept, to me is terrible.
It took my organisation just 4 days to verify my document for employment. it should not be different for the embassy.
The americans insist on an interview and do not labour everyone with a wayward verification exercise. You will always know a fake student by looking at one. Just a few quetiions will bring the rookie out. Nigeriansn are not more fraudulent than canadians themselves so i wonder what all the time spent on verification is all about!!!
Really? Some of y'all think you have a solution to every problem. . .!
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada by Delta007(m): 1:22pm On Jul 14, 2008
@Aydewale & Igbowolo:

Playing the devil's advocate, let's assume there are 200 applications, and it takes 4hrs (not 4 days like Igbowolo's company took them) to verify an application. This means in an 8hr day, they can only verify 2 applications. 200 applications (which is not far-fetched) will obviously take them 100 WORKING days. Assume your application was no. 160, that means you have to wait for 80working days. If you applied to Igbowolo's company, u'd probably have to wait 640 working days (that's more than 2yrs) to get employed. grin Guys,  relax. . !

TravelRe: Canadian Study Permit by Delta007(m): 4:58pm On Jul 13, 2008
igbogolo:
@ Delta 007

You missed the point.

Let me rephrase.

Is it likely that the CDHC will be more biased towards applications made through their representatives in Canada registered in Nigeria? Although the embasy said that using a representative wouldnt affect the decision for a visa, is that correct? I know of people that have gotten their visas through representatives.
I want to make up my mind if I should use a representative or to apply myself.
This has nothing to do with clogged brains or straight foward aplications. I'm sure you know what I mean.
I think you miss the point; the application process is VERY VERY VERY straightforward; so why will they (the Canadian Embassy) be biased towards a 3rd party that is using the process to earn a living? Does it make sense to u? It's not as if there's an exclusive info that is only privy to the "agents". It's the same information you read on the Canadian immigration websites, same forms, same documents, etc that they'd use. So unless they interpret the same info differently from the way you interpret it, how can the outcome be any different? This is where the "clogged up brain" phrase comes into play.

Let me put it this way; the Canadian immigration info is true. They cud care less if you went through Yaradua's agency. If you or your agent fail to submit an application that meets their requirements, you are wasting your time. The upside to using a GOOD agent is that they'd help you organize and "pre-screen" your application before it is submitted for a fee (obviously); A good agent is one that has read and fully understands the application process and knows what the consul is looking for in an application; however, there's no guarantee your application will be approved. Dont let any agent deceive you that they have an "insider" working in the embassy, blah blah blah. There are so many fraudulent "agents" in Nigeria that do not even know A from B; they promise you heaven and earth and smile to the bank at the end of the day. If you go thru some old threads in this forum today, you'd realise that there are a few "agents" on this site, just as confused as you are, asking same questions you will ask. Sometimes, you may even be more knowledgeable than they are but you end up paying them for nothing. My 2 kobo.
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada by Delta007(m): 1:42pm On Jul 13, 2008
igbogolo:
@ azimit.

I attended the last canadian study fair in february. The CDHC representative said they only lookk at the fees for the first year in the applicants account. So for them to grant u a visa, they must be satisfied you have enough resources for the first year.
Is this your first year of admission? can u defer to next year? if yes, I will suggest you go ahead and make payment. Most schools need a commitment fee to know the number of students they expect and also to project for the academic year.
June 2 to me is a bit late. I have friends that applied in march that are yet to heat anything. This canadian embassy visa people are lazy oooo. what are they processing that wll take centuries to conclude? nawa oooh!
I'm not here to defend the Canadian embassy; apart from the fact that they may be under-staffed with respect to the number of applications they receive, over the years, Nigerians have made it difficult for Nigerians by submitting fake documents. A good %tage of applications they receive are supported with fraudulent documents, so genuine applicants tend to suffer long wait times because of (un)necessary scrutiny. Once upon a time, it was the Canadian embassy in Accra that processed all applications in West Africa. On a good day, majority applicants in the embassy were Nigerians, however you know your fate the very day you go in to submit your applicationeither you are asked to go do medicals or you are denied. Regardless, they rejected bank drafts from Nigerian banks; guess why? After a few years, they required Nigerian students to get the WAEC office to send the WAEC results directly from their office. Anyway, we make things difficult for ourselves. Travelling around the world today with a Nigerian passport is an unnecessary hustle; you could be embarassed by mere clerks in airports trying to ensure the Visas on your passport are genuine. So let's not blame anyone for our woes but ourselves. True, Africans are most times subject to ridicule and neglected, thanks to our leaders, but Nigeria is very unique case study. Now that the embassy has moved back to Lagos, I doubt the consulate in Accra suffer such long waits. I guess u folks just have to be patient. . .!

Hello people.

I would like to enquire from this forum if application for a canadian study permit is best made through their recognised representative(s) in Niggeria. I have read a lot especially from the CDHC website that applying through a representative would not affect the outcome of the application, but I doubt it.

Has anyone here gotten his permit applying by himself? Has anyone equally obtained his permit through an agency?
Can both parties please step foward with useful suggestions and experience(s).

Thanks
Apply by urself. You dont need any rep. Unless your brain is clogged up, the application form/process is very straight forward.

@ Delta:

I agree with you and I have even been there, it is justy that it is freaking me out. Most of my plans are hanging, can't even take my annual leave since last year January because @ my place of work, you can't take an annual leave and study leave same year.

I have been at the Anifowoshe Office of the embassy twice and they keep telling me they are still processing it. After now, I would stop asking questions. I guess i have just been anxious. you know it is almost 2 months. Sixty whole days.

Delta don't be offended or tell me off should you desire to respond. Just accept that we all have our anxieties as humans. Funnily I have a good job in Nigeria but you know its quite competitive and almost everyone has got a masters and a few their PHDs and that puts me in quite a disadvantage. That's why am quite anxious.

I did not apply to any other school nor have i considered any other country.

@ everyone:

I am sorry if I am getting you pissed, I was just wondering if there was anyone else in my shoes and how things turn out.

Thank you and God bless.
This is a forum and I doubt your requests/threads is pissing anyone up. I understand your anxiety but my response was to make u aware that this is a forum. . .instead of opening a thread or posting same question every other day, you are better off going to the Embassy to see for yourself. Since you said you've been there twice and they've told you your application is being processed, then Relax. . .Remember 60days doesnt translate to 60working days (after you take out the wkends, Naija and Canadian public holidays). Also, it's quite obvious they are backlogged. . .this is probably peak time for them since there are relatively more applications as a result of the new Fall session. My advice is that if towards the end of July you havent heard from them, then call them, email them and visit them to enquire about your status. You havent been asked to do your medicals yet and it take 3wks minimum for the results to get back to the Embassy, that's is that hospital in Yaba doesnt give you headache. . .so if you happen to get them on the phone, remind them. Regardless, at this stage, I guess "No news is still Good news".

BTW, it might be worthwhile to visit the hospital in Yaba (I believe it's called Marien hospital, or something like that; used to be run by a Greek lady . . .dunno if she's still there) to enquire if you need to make a booking to do the medicals. If u do, the smart thing is to book it right away(perhaps for the 3rd or 4th wk in July). . .so that when/if the papers come, you wont have to wait.

Goodluck!

Ay, you've been asking same questions repeatedly. The simple answer is "Go to the Embassy and enquire about your application". I doubt there's any consul amongst us that can give you specifics about your application.
