Politics / Re: Reps To FG: Direct DSTV, Others To Implement Pay-As-You-Go Tariff by demsy21(m): 7:54am On Mar 18, 2020
It's very simple, since the system is failing you. And, you know there is nothing you can do to change it, do away with it. I was in a francophone country before i came back to the country. There, they have Canal+ , if you doubt my saying, go and research it. The amount they pay to watch the almighty Premiership is not much compared to what Dstv offers my countrymen. See, so many companies are ripping Nigerians. When i tell people around me, what annoys me is that some of them will still find enough strength to challenge what i am saying. So, i decided to "siddon look''. This "suffering and smiling" syndrome is holding this nation far behind. I won't say more than that before THEY come after me with machete.

Politics / Re: ‘FG To Lift 100 Million Nigerians Out Of Poverty In 2020’ - Zainab Ahmed by demsy21(m): 5:59pm On Jan 06, 2020
This kind of statement could cause a revolution if people were serious in this country. Poverty is not good, it strikes the belly first, but its most dangerous target is the mind. When the mind is defeated, nothing will be taken serious, hence the reason, you'll see nairalanders laugh instead of getting angry.
I think the best thing to do now, as a youth, is to forget that we have a government. What is left is Nigeria, we should hold onto it. Do what you can for this country, in this country, not because of the government.
Ps: I'm tired!

I agree with you more than i do with Op.
Ps: The Op is also right to some extent (that truth is not fully applicable to Nigeria).
Frankyboy1:
I am not broke, but a lot of Nigeria youths are broke because opportunity abounds less in this nation, the value of human labor is so poor, the recompense for labor is so competitive, that people take home can barely take them anywhere, a lot of ideas but no support system to help the youths, I have a brother who stayed broke in naija for years, but immediately he migrated to a caring and sane society like Australia, he is constantly boxed up and has alot of investment here to shoe for it, a society that enforces equality promotes labor rights, have a well structured wage pattern and income level, where millions are not poor at the expense of a few corrupt individuals, where the govermnent puts the interst of its people first genuinely, where you don't need to work as an elephant and eat as a ant, except for just a few privileged ones in this country, most people are broke due to reasons beyond immediate control, but last last just keep hustling, you might be lucky, and get a big break

Please Op, I'm sorry to interrupt. I'd like you to answer the following questions. I feel I'm the other guy.
In wich state is the girl staying?
Which school?
What is her initials as in first letter of her Surname and so on?
Ps: I'm not trying to hurt you emotionally, i just want to know. Because your story is somehow similar to my own situation.
AkandeJoseph99:
There is this girl that I love and we've been talking and texting, I've been telling her I love her and she tells me I am special too, most times she doesn't sleep at night and even when my phone is off her call comes in almost immediate even by midnight, until recently I noticed she's losing interest and doesn't get excited talking to me again like she uses to be before. I asked her but she always said it's because she is busy, so I continued texting her because she seldom picks my call I begged her a lot and kept on calling and texting until recently I asked her what's up or she should tell me if she has another boyfriend she now said that a boy asked her to be his girlfriend and she told him yes November last year, I went ahead to ask her that what about me she said she didn't know I love her, that she thought we're just friends that I should have told her, so I got heart broken and kept on texting her but it seems the texts don't even make sense to her and when she manages to pick my call or call me she avoids many talks. Please what should I do, I've been drinking and started drugs but still. I've been having sleepless nights and can't concentrate with my life. Admin please push to front page I need help.
Islam for Muslims / Re: The Islamic Perspective On Feminism by demsy21(m): 3:07pm On Jan 03, 2020
It's not laziness, I'm also a researcher but in another entirely different domain (Languages). Infact, the more we discover things unknown, the more my faith grew exponentially in the person behind all this. Who could that be, if not Allah. Why? He already mentioned it in the Holy Book. Don't see muslims as people who just sit around, with no input in nowadays scientific discoveries. It is mandatory for all muslims to look for knowledge. I don't want to bombard you with Quranic and Traditional Prophetic citations on that. Let's use our intellect (although mine is based on religious concept) to discuss this. Back to what you said, "some individuals" disagreed yet at the end of the day they came at the same conclusion with what Allah has said before their forefathers were given birth to.
budaatum:

Some individuals did not agree that there are things the brain cannot process. They refused to leave it alone and created the telescope to enhance their brain.

Work harder to see, know, and understand. Laziness must not be an option for those worshipping God, or for anyone, for that matter.
Islam for Muslims / Re: The Islamic Perspective On Feminism by demsy21(m): 1:54pm On Jan 03, 2020
Yes, this truth applies in many contexts and dispositions related to human to human affairs not the Creator. So many things our human brain can't process is best left without questions. If not for the advent of microscope, would you have believed there are creatures you can't see with your naked eyes despite that you're not blind. Not because they are invisible, they are too small for you to see. Likewise, there are some so big but you still can't see them. Ex: planets (stars) in the sky.
budaatum:

Those who don't ask questions don't learn and never gain understanding.

Islam for Muslims / Re: The Islamic Perspective On Feminism by demsy21(m): 11:05am On Jan 03, 2020
See... What people call "superior" and "inferior" pertaining the men and women's topic are relative terminology i'd rather not like to use for obvious reasons. The right terms from what i understand in the scriptures is "privilege" and ''responsibilities". Look, in islam, there are some things women are allowed to do , men can't do it, vice versa. Women can use necklaces, chains, jewelries, perfumes, etc while men are not allowed such. At the other side, men can go to the cemetery, recite the Quran loudly inside the mosque and do other things while their female counterparts are forbidden to do. See, in islam, we don't ask the reasons behind, for we believe the Almighty knows what is best for us. We believe and full stop.

It didn't come from external sources but the people themselves. When we stop seeing what is wrong as right. When we start commending and rewarding good, then cautioning and punishing evil. When the truth prevails out of people's naturally resolute will, not from sentiments nor for materialistic interest. Then, should all this societal ills stop. I, my dear, do hope that that time comes hastily or else i shiver for my offsprings (which i don't want if not for mother nature and parents wahala, Lol).

How many years have they (MultiChoice) been established here in Nigeria? They never for once thought of reducing their exorbitant price packages not to talk of a product for low income earners (GoTv). But, hey, here they are, dishing out promo anyhow. If you still don't understand, ask people who have been using Dstv prior to Startimes' arrival. How much they had to pay to acquire the dish alone and other frivolous equipment for just installation in their home. Now, the Chinese company (Startimes) is airing the FA Cup, Euro 2020, Club World Cup, and so many exciting sports competitions are yet to come.

How! Can you explain?

With Zero competition, DSTV still not sleeping.

I don't think so, Startimes is warming up right now. Very soon, with the right decision, quality stations, the Chinese company is seriously working towards it. The GoTv product attests to the fact that Multichoice is being challenged. The future of this Industry is bright.

Business / Re: Nigeria, Sierra Leone Plan Currency Swap by demsy21(m): 7:07am On Jan 02, 2020
You did a good summary, a headache off lazy readers on this forum. If you think the article is like an epistle to you, just gather here. cheesy
GreetMe:
According to what i understood. Nigeria did a currency swap with China(chinese yuan) to lessen the dependence on the dollar.

With China being a very important trade partner with Nigeria and Nigeria having the yuan from the swap, when both countries trade, the yuan can serve in place of the dollar(because the dollar is the common international currency)

Since Nigeria is an economic giant in West Africa, Sierra Leone wants to swap currencies with Nigeria, like Nigeria did with China to achieve the same purpose like i explained above. That also means when Sierra Leone is also dealing with China, they can also pay in Nairas since the currency swap Nigeria did with China covers it too.

Dats means it's a good development.

Economists in the house, I no try? Or I no still understand am

That is the best thing he did there. He was right to respect her in accepting the date cuz she could have done it without his knowing anyway. Whether she went out with the rich guy or not will not change or make her future decision on him. Your scolding a girl you are not married to cannot (and will not) control a her heart, so giving your approval gives her another reason to see you as the one to approve, remember, it is just an authority she ascribes to you and not your birthright.
.
.
He shouldn't be bothered then, he should let her make her own choice. But the way i am seeing it, it will be hard for Op to get her back. And even if he does, she may use it to insult him in the future should things go south (when married). That, had she followed the rich guy she wouldn't be in this predicament. I have seen that kind of woman.
