Can anyone throw more light on the YEAP and FAFIN program currently being launched by GEJ.
The Fund for Agricultural Finance in Nigeria (FAFIN) is an innovative agriculture-focused investment fund that provides tailored capital and technical assistance solutions to commercially-viable small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and Intermediaries across the agricultural sector in Nigeria.

Fund term – FAFIN has an initial 10 year life extendable for three additional 1 year periods.

Fund size – FAFIN’s target fund size is US $100 million currently with $34 million committed capital from its first close.

Average Investment – Average investment size is US$ 3-5 million.

Target investees – Small and medium sized enterprises across the agricultural value chain; and intermediaries for on-lending to agricultural SMEs and small holder farmers.

T.A Facility – FAFIN has an independently funded technical assistance facility that supports investee companies and mitigates investment risks. The target size of the facility is 10% of the fund and it is currently funded with US$ 2 million.

Investment Strategy – FAFIN has a preference for investment opportunities that enable import substitution, increase food security, or bridge gaps and fix inefficiencies along supply chains.

The truth is always the truth, even if bitter.

If youwin can ask us all to come to abuja to sign agreement binding us all to certain tenets, despite our 'goodness', i wonder why reference short cuts should be encouraged.

Please if you are yet to get references for your Youwin account,,politely approach any of your relatives, neighbours and friends that has a business account that is over 6months and plead with him or her.Think very well ,you must be able to identify @least two co-operate account owners that will be willing to assist you..To facilate the
process,,ensure that your referee has an account with thesame bank you are using. So the verification process will be internal and faster...be proactive about it..wish you the best...If the account will be domiciled in the branch and count for the branch or the account officer ,it would have been a different story
i concur.

HOW TO RESOLVE REFERENCE ISSUES.
This post is to inform us on how to resolve our reference issues in less than 72 hours.

If you have submitted 2 reference forms to your bank and you are being told there is no response from the other bank, visit your bank branch and ask to see the customer service person. She is usually the person who sends to the other banks, in stanbic, ask for the account support officer.

Request for the status of the reference as at the moment. If it is still a 'no response' status, ask for a print out of the NIBSS status page.

You see, there is a new reference clearing system that has been automated. Hard paper references are no longer sent by banks, instead it is done electronically.

The onus is on the sending bank to send on time (they delay in sending sometimes and claim they have not gotten a response whilst it has not been sent) and the receiving bank to respond on time(work load prevents timely response.)

Once you get the print outs, you can take it to the other bank and demand for a reason why they have not responded.

The truth is that you would be told by the sending bank (your bank) to either come back for the printout (if they have not sent it) or given which makes it easy to make a demand on the responding bank.

If you however have references not suitable issues, you have to get new references that's compatible with their requests.

@ Denn....I'm an ex-banker,I have worked with 3 different banks..business managers and marketers provide over 80% percent of the reference used in opening co-operate accounts for customers....Most owners of co-operate accounts do not know who referenced them..It still happens till date... Now you want to discourage some1 that wants to reference an awardee..I thought we are family....let's encourage those that wish to reference people they met on this platform....we don't have fraudulent people in this group
Well, you want a short term solution.... Go ahead and give references to people you can't trace...

This is part of the corruption in this country.

If your banking experience has not involved a story at thr EFCC or SFU, you can advocate for references as much as you want.

I have seen innocent bankers rot in EFCC custody for just providing references. Ordinary address verification and other KYC requirements have destroyed careers.

If this is our kind of thought process on this issue, then I am dissapointed.

If you have a relation in EFCC or the financial crimes section of the police, just ask them about my opinion.

Take a visit to ribadu Road ikoyi and visit the EFCC facility and ask about the bankers in detention.

How are you so sure we don't have fraudulent people amidst us? Because we won? Because we have all spoken nice?

Ask ladies and they will tell you the nice talking guys are usually the greatest heart breakers.... Lol

No body is fraudulent until situations meet opportunity.... And when that time comes, you won't be there to control and you won't be able to check out.

Banking policy States that all financial records must be kept for a minimum of 5 years after conclusion. For account opening, that is 5 years after account closure. When will these accounts we are opening be closed? How long is your reference relevant?

This our posts will be here for posterity (if NL is not attacked again) and our advocacy for what is wrong or right will always be there

Denn, puleeze. Rolling my eyes. I am an ex-banker. I know the routine. I got so many references for customers and in my eight years in the bank. There was no issue about the references. Its the norm to get references for people. Besides, im harmless.
If you actually worked 8 years in a Bank, I hope you got to a senior level where you should have understood the risks inherent in giving references to third parties....and not just a branch boy.

I am so surprised that you can claim there is no risk in references. What is the English definition of reference?

There being no issue does not mean the risk isn't there.

There are a lot of guys here who are just opening corporate current accounts for the first time and they should be shown the proper way things are done.

I have spent many years working at different levels in different banks and I can tell you for free that references are the only ghosts that can haunt you after resignation.

The truth is always the truth and does not crave acceptance. I just pray nobody remembers this post and wails.
BusinessRe: Youwin Business Competition 2013 by Denn(m): 6:47pm On Dec 13, 2014
I do not encourage signing references for total strangers.

A reference is a fall back for the bank in case there is a need to trace the account holder.

References don't expire. You might be called to produce the account holder in 20 years time... No kidding.

Some people might frown at my position but it is the hard truth.

I have seen the need to call up the referees in my few years of existence and believe me, it's a bitter pill.

Dear OP,

Please read my post carefully and heed my advice lest it haunts you in some years time.

If the vehicle is to be used in Nigeria, please buy a fairly used one instead of a kia Rio.

The resale value of a kia Rio drops by almost 50 percent the day you drive out of their car lot.... Yes in 24 hours.

You enjoy the perps and new rubber smell for some few months but the following starts happening....

You find out the audio is not a high quality one
the shocks and bushings are not well groomed for our wonderful roads.
The fuel mileage is not as advertised.
You have very limited luxury options
The bulbs blow out
The battery dies when you least expect and you find out it is not covered under warranty.
You complain about your shocks at the service centre and all they just replace are the Stabilizer links
You wait hours just to service your car. If you get your car in 3 hours, you are lucky. Waiting room is cozy though.
By the time you are selling, the value has dropped so low and there would be limited offers you would think you were driving a napep.
An okada man knocks off your mirror, God help you getting a cheap replacement. A napep pulls out your bumper... Hope you have 2 ATM cards filled with cash.

If however you stay on banana Island and will drive mostly on smooth roads without the everyday hustle with yellow buses, then go ahead.... You can't be allowed to go through the hassles of a used product... A clean 2007 model BMW 3 series or Camry will give you better satisfaction.

Words of a brand new 2013 kia Rio user.

....Don’t be shy about showing potential customers your work in progress.Unless you work in an industry with unusually aggressive, competent, and well-funded competitors, you really don’t have to worry about other people “stealing” your idea. Ideas are cheap—what counts is the ability to translate an idea into reality, which is much more difficult than recognizing a good idea.
“Stealth mode” diminishes your early learning opportunities, putting you at a huge early disadvantage. It’s almost always better to focus on getting feedback from real customers as quickly as you possibly can....

Every successful business creates or provides something of value that other people want or need at a price they’re willing to pay, in a way that satisfies the purchaser’s needs and expectations and provides the business sufficient revenue to make it worthwhile for the owners to continue operation.

@Chukwuka12, please can u help with an answer?
Youwin chooses the bank.

Believe me, the choice of the bank is the least of your worries.

Focus on your plan first and ensure you make it one of your best outputs. Dont be distracted.

Even if you win, possibility of getting funds before December 2015 is bleak, ceteris paribus
