7.30 am is steep. Means lodging overnight in Abuja. Not every body can afford such business travels. An empowerment program should not deplete scarce personal resources. It won't cost the organizers the world if they had 6 validating zones spread across the country... Valid thinking. Wish concluding time was certain to determine flight back to lagos. |
Donxavier:Yes. |
Donxavier:You are right. I won't mind lending on that condition in addition to a grant. We can't blame the banks. They lend out based on the cost of funds they receive. Diesel, salaries, returns on investment, regulatory levies, costs of operations, cash handling costs, security, atm maintenance, etc... Costs are high bro. Diesel and security alone can account for over 30% savings... And this is a conservative estimate. Banks don't run generators in Developed countries. I have responded to your mail as regards our discussion. Thanks |
samuelkingz:value creation is key. there should be someone somewhere who is ready to pay for your product or service...and you should be reachable to that person. The points to identify are: What do you want to recycle? what do you want to get as an output? who are the ready consumers of the output? what is the process cost (or conversion cost from waste to wealth)? conduct a cost versus benefit analysis of the whole process how much can you sell the outcome to make a profit? will the consumer be willing to pay the cost-plus margin price willingly? risk analysis...market, industry, regulatory, foreign, etc once you provide the answers, then we can fire up. cheers and welcome. |
Donxavier:i have responded. Which fund is that? do you know the specific name? financing and grants are not the same...i prefer a grant/dash to a loan...however, a loan is better than nothing. |
onobelle:Sure.. |
Donxavier:Lol. Not really. I gave the summary here and also included the main working template from CBN. I am involved in the CBN MSMEDF and that is why I made it known. It must be reiterated that it is a lending platform that requires all the normal nuggets of commercial bank lending viz collateral, cash flow, character etc. The main difference is the interest rate (9% p.a.) and the tenor (up to 5 years.) Existing business with growth trend and collateral can apply. Normally, every bank with an SME desk should be able to package thr loan but I have found out that the knowledge is not spread. Incase you are within lagos or ogun axis and you want us to discuss further, I can always be reached via a direct message. I will leave the banking sector soon and would like to assist as many businesses as I can before I leave. I have gotten some silent members of this forum hitting me mails on the subject and discussions are ongoing. Thanks |
bigproject:What docs do you have on the land? |
TIN reg tomorrow. Picked up forms at the Agidingbi office last week. Guys, please try to do it on time. They sometimes delay unnecessarily too... Turnaround time should be 24 hours though |
favoryourl:Do we have designated banks? Can we open with any bank of our choice? |
Which title docs do have? |
twaintoy:How's marriage life? |
Here... Those corners are the key. A professional can go through the curves at high speeds... A glide through. A smart amateur will slow down to around 80kmph or less depending on how green he is... An ego filled one wil crash. The track is not for the lily-heart. But if he says he will beat yungboss and lomomike... He might be right. *runs away from the thread*

Solid build and design. First Peugeot to catch my fancy since the days of 504 and 505. Looking forward to the day when a RWD sedan will toll of the French factory floor |
ba7man:First 50 attempts? Haba... |
stagger:You are right. The opposition does not have a contender that is worthy of the fight. The election is less than 150 days away. Politics aside, I think this programme has shown that some things can be done in Nigeria that are devoid of corruption. You do not need to know someone in the ministry of finance to have a chance. Let's pray the scheme is not thrown away |
bolufelix:Yes. The award ceremony. Not compulsory though. |
Nsonaso:I did not insult you. I frown at all media that tends to promote bh. let's look at it this way, what if everyone in the world doesn't listen to bh and isis propaganda, don't you think the war would have been long concluded? |
roxell120:Is there any specific agency you are in liaison with? What is the full name of the programme? Thanks |
Hello Please I am Interested in buying 10 to 20 acres of farmland in ogun state. Access to main road is vital and should not be too far from lagos. I can be reached via a mention and mail. Thanks |
Dear op. It is better if you make this information more explicit. Where is your office in anambra to start with? Is there an official list showing each state coordinator that can be posted here? Don't make it look like a cult or scam.... Make it more open. Thanks |
SLIDEwaxie: I'm sorry but u are not making sense here? You seem not to understand what our discourse was about. |
ariduz: @Denn, you are so right, but hv been following and constantly checking up on this forum for a very long time before even registering..anyway am 1 of the provisional awardee.. my business is mainly on furniture / interior decoration and wood production.. Hope it's cool 4 now..Very cool. Apologies if I sounded to harsh. Do you produce the furniture or just retail? there is this new material just being adopted in Nigeria by furniture makers as a replacement to sawn wood. I don't know the name. It's like a board and comes in many colours. The finished product is always beautiful. Furniture also seems to be a highly segmented business. There are sofas of between N45k and N2m. Identifying niche is 100% critical. Who you are selling to matters. You should also consider branding to differentiate your business. Lifemate, Bedmate, Master and other popular high niche brands come to mind. However, I believe the best and guaranteed ROI on a N10m or less investment will come from focusing on the middle income and upcoming youths market. I applaud you sir for having this brilliant idea. Please just don't make your products too expensive... You know we customers have a lot of expenses. ![]() Try to minimise your unit cost without sacrificing quality. Focus more on process management. For example, an electric saw should be used instead of manual. This reduces time spent on a single unit. More units can therefore be produced. Don't forget to create a very professional website. You can post links here once it is ready so we can recommend customers to you. Congrats and best of luck |
Nsonaso: Please how?See the bigger picture, for everyone who shows delight In bh's seeming success, there is a drag backwards for the nation. I frown at anything that serves as a threat to the peace of my life and bh is one. We can all sit down here in the comfy of our homes and type what we want online. How about the people in the captured areas? How about the kidnapped girls? How about the soldiers at the war front? Any support for bh either directly or indirectly is not for the common good |
Why did you choose ife route? I was thinking ore could have been a better choice. More info needed as I might be driving to aso villa soon |
Bigboyz32: I am wondering how those who used others to front will cope with this kind conditions.A 'frontee' who got to this level will scale through. What is there to validate again? Id? Citizenship? Qualifications? Sex? No database in Nigeria. It's mainly legal signing. Abuja is just too far.... Will the awardees be invited to the final ceremony?, |
October 20th to 28th involves just 6 working days. One day for each geo political zone. I can notice a rush herein. Notification would be sent next week for an event happening just within a week in Abuja. Award ceremony might occur in November then. First tranche within December. my humble permutations still. |
Nsonaso: Last week, the Nigerian Army claimed the Boko HARAM leader’s impersonator was killed. Cameroon even claimed they were the ones who killed him, a claim subsequently debunked by the Nigerian Military. Photos and even a video was even released to buttress that fact .However, in yet another video made available to AFP today, Shekau was shown making a speech debunking reports of his death. According to AFP, he said ..So what? You are like a son who rejoices at the rape of his mother. Move on |
ariduz: Pls who's into furniture and wood production in, let's share ideasThis is your first post on NL. You were registered just last week. Maybe you should tell us more about you and your business. An introduction would suffice |
Donxavier: That poultry farming thing is so common, almost like the default business in south west. Almost everybody does it lol. what about the fruit juice industry?.....what do you think of that idea. It's obviously not as populated as agric. You are so right. Poultry is too common.... And the cost of a proper poultry is in multiples of what youwin offers. I was at a farm last week and the cost of set up was N90m. It's a fully automated 60,000 bird capacity pen. Further investments to be done by this farmer in 2015 is around 200m. The farmer was even still saying he is just starting. Youwin is N10m max. Fruit juice is water based.... Any business based on selling drinkable fluids will flourish exceedingly in Nigeria. We have 160 million thirsty throats and there is always a party every weekend. The main problem would be threats from new entrants and their gross consistency of spoiling market. Look at pure water and yoghurt businesses in Nigeria. The innovators enjoyed at first but almost every family owns a pure water business now. If your feasibility shows niche control, then it's cool. Your differentiating factors might be set up costs, knowledge, packaging, branding, regulatory approvals and most importantly, your selling skills. Remember you have existing mega players in the industry... Chivita, funman, 5alive etc.... These guys are not your friend and won't mind stifling you out. In summary, it's a very wonderful business idea and I believe you can create a strong market once the basics of branding, pricing, market penetration, costing, process, logistics and positioning are carefully analysed. I wish you best of luck and once you launch, let us know the brand name and how to buy from you. |
CoolKizzy: Even if Jonathan doesn't win, it will be foolhardy of any government to suspend this programme... It has been the best thing for youths since NYSC. Even other countries are trying to adopt this model. America with all its power and intelligence doesn't have such a programme... Except social pay handouts and visa lottery. This youwin will outlive Jonathan sef except corruption digs in... |
CoolKizzy: October 20-28th, Abuja. Validation and agreement signing. How did you get this? ++++modified. Seen. Email came in a bit late... The rains maybe |
