@op, thanks! Happy eid al adha to all Muslims in advance. Dont forget the lessons of the eid which is 'sacrifice'. Share with your neighbours- both Muslims and christians. atheists too. May Allah accept all our deeds as Iba'dah (amin) ![]() |
Today is the first day of dhul hijjah- here is the excellence of the 1st ten days. All praise is due to Allah, Lord of the Worlds. May peace and blessings be upon the Chief of the Messengers, Muhammad. Indeed it is a great favour and blessing from Allah that He has made for His righteous servants periods of time within which they can increase in good deeds to attain great rewards and one of these opportunistic periods is the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah (the final month of the Islamic Calendar, in which the hajj is performed). Superiority of the FIRST Ten Days of Dhul-Hijjah The excellence of these ten days have been mentioned in the Qur'ân and the Sunnah. 1. Allah says in the Qur'ân: "By the dawn and by the ten nights … " [Al-Qur'ân 89:1-2] Ibn Kathîr said that "the ten nights" referred to here are the ten days of Dhul-Hijjah, and this opinion was also held by Ibn Abbâs, Ibn az-Zubair, Mujâhid and others. 2. The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said: "There are no deeds as excellent as those done in these ten days." They (the companions listening) said, "Not even Jihâd?" He, peace be upon him, said, "No, not even Jihâd except a man who goes forth endangering his life and wealth and does not return with anything." [Recorded by al-Imâm al-Bukhârî] 3. Allah says: " … and remember the name of Allah in the appointed days." [Al-Qur'ân 2:203] Ibn Abbâs and Ibn Kathîr said this means in the ten days of Dhul-Hijjah. 4. The Messenger of Allah, upon whom be peace, said: "There are no other days that are as great as these in the sight of Allah, the Most Sublime. Nor are there any deeds more beloved to Allah then those that are done in these ten days. So increase in tahlîl (to say lâ illaha illallah), takbîr (to say allahu akbar) and tahmîd (to say alhumdulillâh)." [Reported by at-Tabarânî in al-Mu'jum al-Kabîr] 5. With regards to the noble companion Saîd bin Jubair, when the days of Dhul-Hijjah began he would strive to increase in good actions with great intensity until he was unable to increase anymore. [Reported by ad-Dârimî] 6. Ibn Hajar says in Fath al-Bârî: "The most apparent reason for the ten days of Dhul-Hijjah being distinguished in excellence is due to the assembly of the greatest acts of worship in this period, i.e. salawât (prayers), siyâm (fasting), sadaqah (charity) and the hajj (pilgrimage). In no other periods do these great deeds combine." What are the recommended acts in these days? 1. The Prayer - It is highly recommended to perform the obligatory acts at their prescribed times (as early as possible) and to increase oneself in the superogatory acts, for indeed, this is what brings a person closer to their Lord. The Messenger of Allah, upon whom be peace, said: "Upon you is to increase in your prostration to Allah, for verily you do not prostrate to Allah with even one prostration, except that He raises you in degrees and decreases your sins because of it." [Reported by Muslim] 2. Fasting - This has been mentioned as one of the acts of righteousness where Hanbada ibn Khâlid reports on the authority of his wife who reports that some of the wives of the Prophet, peace be upon him, said: The Prophet, upon whom be peace, would fast on the ninth of Dhul-Hijjah, the day of Âshûra and three days in every month. [Recorded by Ahmad, Abu Dâwûd, an-Nisâî and others] Al-Imâm an-Nawawî said that fasting in these ten days is extremely recommended. 3. Saying allahu akbar; lâ illaha illallah and alhamdulillâh - It is found in the aforementioned narration of Ibn 'Umar: "So increase yourselves in saying lâ illaha illallah, allahu akbar and alhamdulillâh." Al-Imâm Bukhârî, may Allah have mercy on him, said: "Ibn 'Umar and Abû Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with them both, used to go out to the markets in the ten days saying the takbîr causing the people to follow them in this action." He also said: "Umar ibn al-Khattâb used to say the takbîr in his minaret in Mina, whereupon the people of the mosque hearing 'Umar, would start to say the takbîr as would the people in the markets until the whole of Mina was locked in glorifying Allah." Ibn 'Umar used to say the takbîr in Mina during these ten days and after prayers, whilst on his bed, in his tent, in his gathering and whilst walking. What is recommended is to say the takbîr aloud due to the fact that 'Umar ibn al-Khattâb, his son and Abû Hurayrah used to do likewise, may Allah be pleased with them all. Strive with us O Muslims in reviving this sunnah that has become lost in these times and it was almost forgotten, even amongst the people of righteousness and goodness all of which is unfortunately in opposition to what the best of generations were upon (preserving and maintaining the superogatory acts). There are a number of ways of making takbîr that have been narrated by the companions and their followers and from these ways is the following: - Allahu akbar, allahu akbar, allahu akbar kabîrun. - Allahu akbar, allahu akbar, lâ ilaha illallah, wallahu akbar, wallahu akbar, wa lillahil hamd. - Allahu akbar, allahu akbar, allahu akbar, lâ ilaha illallah, wallahu akbar, allahu akbar wa lillâhil hamd. 4. Fasting on the day of 'Arafah - Fasting has been affirmed on the day of 'Arafah, where it has been confirmed from the Prophet, peace be upon him, that he said regarding fasting on the day of 'Arafah: "Be content with the fact that Allah will expiate for you your sins for the year before (the day of 'Arafah) and the year after (the day of 'Arafah)." [Reported by Muslim] However, whoever is at 'Arafah as a pilgrim then fasting is not expected of him, as the Prophet, peace be upon him, stopped at 'Arafah to eat. May the peace of Allah be upon his Prophet, the family of the Prophet and all of his companions http://www.sunnahonline.com/library/hajj/0010.htm |
Just one similarity.[size=14pt] Both religions have extremists who are potentially violent. while one group is bold enough to carry out their threats, the others can only cowardly rant on a faceless forum like they av done as seen below-[/size] fxtopedia (m) toba fxtopedia (m) fxtopedia: davidylan: |

nice topic |
OMG!. .later on, these people would be talking marginalisation in the Muslim section. there was no insult in all they said for goodness sake and you deleted those posts?? they only made some points clear and sweetnecta's was very much related with this post. Except there are some rules I dont know about o ![]() |
javalove:wat d'u think. .are they good for chops? |
@ Javalove, thanks for that- very insightful ![]() @Uplawal, suit ur self. ![]() @ tpia@, we appreciate your input ![]() |
Sweetnecta: uplawal:you are taking things out of context. You cannot pray for them is different from not feeling bad at their death. One very important reason to feel bad is the thought that they died as unbelievers. wouldnt you wish that they die as Muslims. Imagine that you have christiann family members, would you start dancing around at their death?? Ogbon ori is required in every thing my sister. Dont always act so aggressively- Be ready to learn. No one knows it all. Predicted or not predicted, they were still killed by their own people, and the killers still have the whole of Quran in their head, maybe even prayed the next salat sef after the action. If you like feel pity for the death of George Bush, you are going against the Quran, simple.I still donno why you av to talk about these deaths. are u saying the perpetrators were right because they were Muslims. I really am curious of how long u av been a Muslim. You should really be careful and be sure of your claims before making them. Allahu a'lam! |
uplawal:@ bolded, when a Muslim is about to die, u encourage them to say shahada, there is a lot of benefit for them if they are able too. bad people would find it hard to say or may not be able to at all. People sentenced even in non-Muslim nations are allowed a chance to read their holy books before death- it is something like that. people whose heads were chopped off under a legal system are different from someone killed without a trial- just give it a thought ehn! uplawal:what kind of comparison is this?? Astaghfirullah!!! what were u trying to justify sef ?? uplawal:Did you type the above because u are a Muslim or as a human or just because u seem to know how the world rolls and should be rolled with?? Until u decide to live a totally Islamic life, you would continue to talk this way.I gave an example from the lifetime of the prophet in that write up. but, it seems u read it for criticisms only rather than to benefit. I advise that you read it again. |
Sweetnecta:I also wonder why they would not bury him. If they are Muslims, conscious of Islam, they wouldnt have left him the way they did. In fact, I think all of their action can only bring a curse into their land. here, we would have called it an abomination. |
uplawal, nitori olorun ha! pls, be careful of your statements. While talking Islam, put sentiments aside. look into what the Qur'an says and see what the hadiths say too. uplawal:the fact that you dont know how Ghaddafi killed is the reason you are to mellow and not keep talking all the time. You can rejoice all you like, But I must tell you rejoicing at the death of any Muslim is wrong. Muslims are a brethren. While Allah calls us such in the Qur'an, he knew some of us would be bad. What if they had chop off his neck or amputate his limbs, what would you have said?.90% of libyans cant be wrong for jubilating all around of his death both in Libya,Manchester uk,America, can all of them be hating their leader so much,or do you think if Gaddafi was that loved, would his people want him dead and still rejoice so much.If they had done that, I would say exactly what am saying now. Majority does not carry the vote in Islam. many of the Muslims in Arab nations are lucky to be born in to Islam. they do not live an Islamic life. And they therefore are not the yardstick for determining what is right or wrong. |
frosbel, this your story get as e be. got me laffn d heck out! what kind of analogy is that ![]() Ask any1 who ever had a chid if they could sacrifice them for anything. God has the power to save the whole world without inflicting any harm on his supposed 'son'. why then would he?? and especially for who?? those who cant keep to a simple commandment?? cant even talk about this god without heaping insults on others. Bottom Line, [size=14pt]God begeth not nor was he begotten!!!!![/size] |
University of Life. Very much an Undergraduate |
I was going to keep quiet over this. But I decided, enough of that. The death of Ghadaffi didnt come as a shock So I thought we would most probably be saying the same things we have been saying since the ‘revolution’ started except for a new talk on the humiliation and then the reflection over how much power, money, influence and so on do not really matter when death beckons, when the will of God is to be established. But, I changed my mind for reasons, I keep away from this write-up. The first thing to note and that comes to my mind in Situations like this is the thought that God is the only supreme being. The rich can become poor, Presidents go and others come, Kings die and relieve their duties and Dictators do die on the streets. Let no one take power to be their birth right and then hang on to it as if they will never die. It should be seen as a test, something to run away from. Allah says- Do men think that they will be left alone on saying, ‘we believe’ and that they will not be tested?(29:2) Also, Allah says- And If Allah did not check one set of people by means of another, the World would indeed be full of mischief (2;51) What happened to Ghaddafi only confirms the above verse. Do you think you are so powerful that you can not be checked by others? You would surely be checked and the world could thereby be relieved of some mischief. Note that this verse is in relation with what happened to Goliath. He was checked by the action of David. Oh Ghaddaffi was truly bad. He committed all sorts of atrocities, But did he truly deserve to die the way he did? This is something that has been bothering me. I didn’t sleep well the night he died-Maybe, I shouldn’t have seen the video! In an Islamic setting, this manner of killing has no place. The almighty doesn’t need a structured system for His will to be carried out. But every partaker in it would be questioned on their role. We should always be careful of how emotions guide our ways. He could have been made a prisoner, tried in a court and sentenced as required. This just reminds me of the athar on a companion of the prophet who met a disbeliever on a battle field. The disbeliever spitted on him and as he was about to strike the disbeliever with his sword, he remembered his intention had changed. he wasn’t going to strike him for the sake of Allah but out of anger for the spit. He retracted as a result. This is the kind of manner in which every Muslim should behave even in the most difficult situations. I was surprised that Many people think of the war in Libya with respect to Islam as to see it as a victory for or defeat against Islam. Don’t be confused people. What happened in Libya is totally political. But majority of the people involved are Muslims. Ghaddafi’s rule wasn’t an Islamic one, so if you are rejoicing because you are anti-Islam, it is time you get an education. And Muslims should avoid being divided over this Issue. There is little our argument on whether Islam agrees with this kind of revolution would achieve. Baseline is, the Arab nations are going through a trying time and Muslims from other parts of the world are worried and of course we have to be, for the people involved are our brethren-whether right or wrong. Some people are rejoicing over Ghaddafi’s death. No one should rejoice over someone else’s death, I think. His death should serve as a reflection for you- something that brings death to your consciousness. Are you aware of how your own death would be. Where it is going to happen and the circumstances that would surround it? Are you even in a position to judge anyone based on what you read and hear? when you arent sure of their relationship with God? Can you beat your chest and tell the whole world that you would be in a better position than this man on the day of reckoning?? Food for thought this is. Having said these, I only hope that something good happens after now; that the people of Libya wouldn’t be further divided and that the country would be built back, starting with an Islamic foundation. |
godspeed:I refer u to d ffg link. come bak after u must av learnt somfn. https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-785734.0.html |
op makes a lot of sense and in addition to dat, would u pls advise them to argue intelligently too ![]() |
ohhh where av i been . sweetnecta sir, your sense of humor is amiable. I agree with u. a toba-aloy/emeka should give us some rest.it would even help bring some unity to d forum-less of d tribal wars. ![]() @ topic, the eating of pig is haram in Islam but not its use for any other purpose(I stand corrected though). Muslims are not allowed to drink alcohol for example, but the spirit we use everyday is actually alcohol. an even stronger one than found in drinks. so, d use of pig skin as foot wear is nothing anyone should be bothered about. I'll find out more InshaAllah about the family of pig as mentioned. There are guidelines in finding out what exactly is forbidden and what is not. if those animals mentioned fall under those, they become haram but if not, they are not. soon,i'll post what i find out InshaAllah |
