Slaak: eeeeeeeeeeh.....hajia, u aint smilin' oooh. Now i knw hw serious u re on dis issue
How do u know I am not smiling.

I am not against polygamy. I am after people practicing it well and against people campaigning for it as if it is compulsory.

They go about it to the extent of going into people's homes to tell husbands they could 'arrange' for him other women if he so wished.. How degrading.

And they see men who dont do it as being lesser Muslims..

They then go ahead to indoctrinate the young ones, especially undergraduates into seeing it as a necessity.

It isnt unpopular to find one who hasnt been able to feed his wife and children goingvahead to marry more and they have all sorts of 'hadiths' to justify it.

And then they have childen they cannot cater for, sinking the Muslim community into deeper poverty and providing children for their relatives to use as pseudomaids.

..many alimajiris and street children are Muslims. It would surprise you to realise that the mothers are too busy with the household politics to really care for the children's welfare.

I can go on and on..

People just need to be reasonable at these things and not do things blindly.

The men should just imagine sharing their wife to understand how it feels.

I have read insensitive thoughts on this issue that you can start to wonder how some people think.

Fact is majority of polygamous men wont allow their own daughters get into polygamy. I have seen this close to me. The man wouldnt want his daughter with a married man/any who could.

I even heard(not sure how authentic), that the prophet frowned at Ali marrying another woman after Fatima. He became polygamous only after her death. That is fatherly love for you.

thorpido: Who will she marry?Let her marry someone that gets angry like her.

@Op,marrying a temperamental woman is dangerous.Don't let her burn your house like left eye(of TLC) or d lady that set fire on a jeep i saw here on Nairaland.
If she marries someone like her, how do you want the marriage to be?

You want them to have children with anger2?

Op is the best for her. He only needs to stop annoying her.

I think dogs can be used for everything beneficial apart from just keeping them in the house. Going by your post, no.1 2ould be the only reason not to have them

And Allah knows best.

Like every other contract, it should be written and signed with witnesses involved.

She is allowed.

showietee: Maturity that i quoted does not mean lies, replies should be base on the i.q of the enquirer.... And one shouldn't hesitate to enlighten those inquisitive on “coming into the folds of islam in totality“. No reservation on islamic laws, one has to bend to islam not amending the laws to ones taste.
I wonder how hard it is to speak 'straight'.

Lying would be wrong. Simple.

The man is expected not to lie. So, if the sister had asked, she wouldnt have gotten into the marriage with a man who wants polygamy if she never wanted it.

Now about the man you spoke about, he deliberately omitted an important aspect of marriage so he could get a wife. To me, omission is a lie. You are supposed to come clean and say things as they should with the person you want to marry.

If he lies or omits something important, she'll later find out and problems may arise.

It would make sense if Muslims look at marriage from a lifelong perspective and not see women as things they can change when they feel uncomfortable. That is the only reason you would see an imminent problem and not nip it in the bud.

Islam › Re: Muslim Singles, Let Us Have A Talk by deols(op): 7:45am On Aug 30, 2013
Slaak: Exactly!
Moreover, wot will she do if by twist of fate the husband finds himself in the niche after marriagehuh
That would be subject to her intelligence.

From experience, the women who act too righteous, like they can take it all find it hardest to bear.

The 'tough' ones usually have a way to make themselves happy still.
Islam › Re: Muslim Singles, Let Us Have A Talk by deols(op): 7:42am On Aug 30, 2013
golpen: And like seriously, I think it goes beyond the self will of a man to marry one or more wives. I rather think it should be done if there's a genuine need and if the man has all the requirements needed to uphold such family.

For me, I'd rather not marry a lady if she'll be repulsive to polygyny at any stage. I may just contact the need.
Now this makes more sense than lying.
Islam › Re: Muslim Singles, Let Us Have A Talk by deols(op): 7:42am On Aug 30, 2013
showietee: Why the focus on this? #Soq

Sister, most times it doesn't usually happen as an initial plan. It could arise due to unforeseen contigencies.... Its usually an offspring of current happenings.

But for he that has intend to do so from onset, he applys maturity when asked. “maturity“ (my view)
Why not focus on it?

If you dont explain yourself, I cannot possibly understand what you are implying.

If a brother is asked and he knows he would and LIES that he wouldnt. Would he be right according to Islam?

That is my question and it is straight forward enough.

The diseases associated with old age. Hernias in men for example or BPH and its associated symptoms and in women VJ prolapse(not common though) and other conditions associated with senility.

I always feel sympathetic with them. I sometimes just don't want to live that long. It matters more, how well.

I wonder how they feel about death and if it is scary to them(as its inevitability is dawning on them)

So reflecting on these and imagining myself in their situation is it for me.

I just pray to die in the best of positions, carrying out the best of acts and being known as one among the righteous while having all of my senses intact and having fulfilled my lifelong goals.

@Op

If you want to keep getting all she gives you now, marry her. It is your choice.

If you all say, he should leave her, who do you want her to marry?

There are probably some good things in her that he isnt speaking of.

Comon o jare @ op, when she gets cooled down after being angry, you guys go ahead and have a beautiful time together abi. Stop getting her angry and you would be fine undecided

Some men are father christmas or father to all nation but not to their family.

I think issues like this should have been ironed out b4 marriage.

I dislike men like this with a passion. Please sit him down and let him see reason why he needs to take care of his family.

The wife can start presenting a list of the family need to him every month.
