shachris: This Nigerian team are not going anywhere. Technically, the coach has nothing to offer. He technical ability is suspect. By now, we shouldn't be under this kind of pressure from the iraqis |
I wonder, why politicians lament for nothing. No right thinking man will live in the North right now or for some years to come. People are being slaughtered everyday , just because someone does not like the God you worship. This has been on unchecked for decades Industry that chooses to open there will not get workers, so why Open there in the first place. |
ifyalways: not possible. This is another thing that has to change. How would someone take up a job space within our economy and payment for his service remitted in another economy ? I have no issue with them tranferring their funds back home, but it has to go through the legal bank transfer process. Their salary and allowance have to be FULLY taxed according to the laws of Nigeria as well |
Politicians can fabricate any thing, at the same time they are capable of also signing any agreement. They are too desperate for power or to chase people out of power. |
So, why is the law of demand and supply not working. Price per round supposed to have fallen now ! |
Street wiseness and Credibility !!!! |
eyenCalabar: Again, the project is just for a select few places and doesn't really affect the people [except via street light]. Government should embark on projects that really affects the masses and not something like this. Even if I was a Lagosian, I wouldn't celebrate this pls.1. If the secretariat is taken off the Grid,It frees capacity to average lagosian. 2.Also when you have an efficient secrtariat, it improved productivity of the civil servants, thereby cutting waste and improving service delivery 3. The amount of money spent ( and lost) tunning 70 generators is all gone and can be used in other part of the state economy 4. The environmental and noise pollution due to these diesel generators is wipped off 5. Street light on Awolowo way , will not only improve the night driving experience, but SMEs along that road, will enjoy increased patronage So, a little drop in the ocean, always have ripple effect |
When I see comment from Nigerians on Social Media going along tribal lines, I marvel . In my mind, I imagine either of the following 1. That they are just joking because i don't see how people can be soo myopic 2. They are not exposed enough to see to understand the dynamics of human existence 3. They are too lazy to engage their brains and subsequently conclude that good is for tribe A and bad is for tribe B I seriously think that Most people fall into assumption 1, so I wave all those tribal comments as "jokes" Congrats to Lagos state, I hope all companiess, governments, estates can start developing their power plants, so as to reduce the burden off the National grid |
what baffles me is that this post is still in Politics section How political is a breathtaking Mansion in Lagos ? |

We can't be here celebrating our stolen wealth. She has no business being that rich. I don't like Oprah, but she worked for her money, this Alakija woman didn't |

Why was he not in LASUTH? Mandela is still being managed in South Africa. That's is what we call leadership |
Nice movie...... |
Is there anything our politicians can't play politics with ? In the ensuing confusion, some politicians loyal to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) advised the people around not to believe the rumour, saying it was the handiwork of the ruling Labour Party (LP) in the state to discredit the well planned burial for the late former state helmsman |
donigspain: GoodAs a Nigerian, you're trained to read meaning to every action and the move of everyone around you. You stop at a traffic light and you keep checking your side mirror, while you can gear, is left on 'D'. ![]() |

Story carried by Punch Newspapers. See link: http://www.punchng.com/business/business-economy/angry-passengers-block-abuja-airport-runway/ Below is a comment from another passenger on the flight I was one of the passengers on the held up Lagos bound flight. To be honest I was more shocked about the lack of security at our Nation's Capital airport, than the idiots on the Tarmac. I don't want to be alarmist but if that's the level of security at our national airport its only a matter of time before we have a MAJOR incident. If I was a criminal or terrorist I'd be rubbing my hands together and waiting for my moment to strike (by the looks of things, they're open for criminal behaviour any given evening). |
Definitely a bank shouldn't win this award |
It's always good for our history to be told, no matter how distasteful. We are supposed to learn from this and avoid a repeat. Over the years, I have refused to blame the young revolutionary coupist, nor the counter-coup northern soldiers nor Ojukwu for the war. Issues were not managed well between 1960-1966, and caused the death of millions of Nigerians. However, the sad thing is that over 4 decades later, we have not learnt our lessons |
Yawns !!! Just woke up Summary of the Situation I was due to fly out of Abuja on Arik air billed to take off 7pm enroute Lagos. The flight was delayed by some 30 mins ( no big deal here) and we managed to fully get on board around 8.15pm. However, on my way into the aircraft, I noticed a group of guys close to "another" ARIK aircraft packed about 30 meters away from ours. This was not an unusual scene as they loooked like guys , checking their luggage to be loaded in the belly of the aircraft before boarding( which is also normal here ). We got on board, the doors closed, the Captain ( Very young guy, should be in his 20. I am extremely proud of being a Nigerian and flown by such a young dude) did all his drills, the cabin crew said all their safety stories and ofcourse, the next thing you expect is to taxi. After about 10 mins, the Young Captain, switched off ( better put reduced the power of the Engine) and told us that some passangers on an earlier ARIK flight to Calabar are right in front of out aircraft, preventing him from taking off. He said for safety and security reasons, the doors will remain closed until Airport security guys come to our aid. We waited for about another 30 mins + before 3 armed Airforce Soldiers came and appealled to the passangers. Obviously the passangers refused to buldge and the soldiers left them, watching them from a distance. After about 2 hours, the Captain came out of his cabin, and addressed us all , that situation has not changed and airport security guys were sympathetic with thes passangers ( Calabarians ). He insisted that that for our safety, he would have preffered to keep the door shut, however due to tha agitation due to discomfort being experienced by passangers that, he was gonna call for the stairs and allow passangers that want to leave, to do so. Ofcourse, the stairs came, doors were flung Open, and some of us ( trying out their negotiation skills) went to appeal to the Calabarians. Their responce was that, the tarmac was their Tahrir Square and nothing was gonna make them move except Arik responds to their plight. This went on until about 1.30am, until one Mr Okon, the vice chairman of Arik came to do , what ARIK should have done 6 hours earlier. That is take these Calabar bound passangers to a resting place and fly them out to Calabar this morning. Please note that the Calabarians, also did not allow Port Harcourt bound plane to leave as well ARIK They are the new definition of useless. Customer care = 0 , Crisis Managemenr = 0 , Empathy for their customer = 0 , Brand Image = 0. Aparently the Calabarians, were due to leave Abuja 12 noon. Their flight was officially delayed till 2PM. They did not leave until some minutes to 6PM. When they got the Calabar, the Airport had closed. So the pilot brought them back to Abuja. Instead of Arik yo make solid arrangements house them, and pacify them; they decided to abandone them to their plight. This was the cause of the protest. However,I must commend guys on our flight, because there was this "understanding" that, it could have been me. This was why our anger , not being able to fly, was directed at ARIK staff and NOT the Calabarians. N.B I have chosen to Ignore all references to my choice of words. As at the time the thread was created, Passengers were all locked up inside the plane and the Pilot in his wisdom called on the Airport Security to manage the Chaos. We locked in for close to 2 hours, not allowed to fly out and also not allowed to leave the plane. |
