Politics / Re: 34 Year Old Nigerian Billionaire Promise To Replace Buhari 2019 As President by deor03(m): 8:31am On May 09, 2017
GloriaSabipeepz:
A young Nigerian politician has declared his interest to replace President Muhammadu Buhari

He listed three things he planned to do as president

Ibrahim Abubaka Lajada who is a 34-year-old Nigerian billionaire living abroad has declared his intention to run for presidency in 2019.

In an exclusive report to NAIJ.com, it was revealed that Lajada believes he is not too young to contest.

“First, I would strengthen our educational system. Second, I will improve economic growth and fight corruption and lastly, I would make certain that everyone has equal and fair treatment in our society.

“Our education system in Nigeria is not one in which we should be very proud of. Yes,
Nigeria does have excellent schools, colleges, and learning institutions, but our standards are not set as high as other countries. For example, our country does not fund our schools adequately. Teachers teach with not enough books, no supplies, or books that are often over 30 years old. How can we expect our children to be up to date with the world’s information if our teaching materials are not new?

“Often teachers in our public schools are forced to buy text books and supplies for our children with their own personal money. Why do they do this? Because they believe in a good education for all learners. Our country "prides" itself on the quality of education a person can receive here, yet teachers are one of the countries lowest paid professionals. Some of our teachers are not well qualified.

Lajada's intention to run for presidency in 2019 generated reactions from Nigerians on social media.

He need to start by READING the constitution of Nigeria.

Section 131 states the condition to be ELIGIBLE to contest

131. A person shall be qualified for election to the office of the President if -

(a) he is a citizen of Nigeria by birth;

(b) he has attained the age of forty years;

(c) he is a member of a political party and is sponsored by that political party; and

(d) he has been educated up to at least School Certificate level or its equivalent.

Technology Market / Re: Samsung Led Smart Tv Troubleshooting ( Pic Attached) by deor03(m): 8:07pm On May 01, 2017
klexycole:

What later happened to the TV? Did you fix it? Also, is the TV still working?

Thanks. smiley

So there is a card that powers the led backlights from the side of the TV. There are 4 fluorescent-like lights on the side of the TV.

A pair of the led backlights is powered by one card each, meaning the two top led backlightsby one card and 2 bottom led backlights by another card.

Apparently, over voltage at some point damaged one of the cards.

I got a Technician from Samsung Nigeria to check the TV and He confirmed to me that the problem was with the led backlights

So i contacted the supplier in the UK , and they sent me the led backlights card FOC.

I got same Technician from Samsung Nigeria to replace the card.....and no issues since then ( Of course, I bought UPS to protect the TV)

See the TV tonight, still functioning perfectly

JOEFY:
Hi. This a true story and I will really appreciate mature advice

I have been dating my gf for a while now (over 4 years). we broke up in September last year due to unreconciled differences among st others. Within 2 weeks of breaking up, she went out with a friend and during going out the friend hooked her up with a friend (who is 8 years older than her). My GF and the guy started talking and where even discussing marriage. After 3 weeks, I started talking with my GF and realized I wanted her back, it was a struggle but she agreed to leave the guy (they had not kissed nor had any sexual encounter in this time). roll forward 6 months later, I still feel she likes the guy coz the guy keeps calling her and asks if she has changed her mind.

I donno what to do and I need help with figuring out what to do. I told her not to hang out with her friend who hooked her up with the guy, but she says she cant, she even went out with him recently, which I got upset about

This issue has affected us and now we are not even in a stable relationship. she is effectively my ex. What should I do

Move on.........She's gone already.

Politics / Re: Buhari - Chess Strategy - Appoint T.bakare As EFCC Head - Keep Magu As Deputy by deor03(m): 4:19pm On Mar 30, 2017
ShangoThor:
Buhari needs to act now, the current challenge by the NASS directly challenges the "Rule of Law" as a constitutional doctrine.

Buhari needs to appoint Tunde Bakare as EFCC head and keep Magu as his deputy, and then we will begin to see how the chips fall!

If "All citizens are equal under the Law", how can (some) NASS members use their sphere of influence to effectively check-mate attempts by the Executive to pass certain requests through their chamber due to personal interests.

Not only is this irresponsible, it is also unpatriotic.

What is becoming more apparent under this current administration is that the NASS are trying to emerge as the most influential arm of the State.

If Saraki is clean, why are there orchestrated attempts to stop any investigations into his dealings by the EFCC.

One thing is for sure, if citizens can't comprehend or accept this simple priniciple, then you can kiss development good bye.

How is it possible to bastardize such a simple concept as the "Rule of Law" ?

Bakare will spit fire and will be an effective check on these influential individuals. We need action urgently!

See the law establishing the EFCC

Part 1
Establishment of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Etc.

1. There is established a body to be known as the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (in this Act referred to-as "the Commission"wink which shall be constituted in accordance with and shall have such functions as are conferred on it by this Act.

2. (1) The Commission shall consist of the following members
(a) a chairman, who shall be
(i) the Chief Executive and Accounting Officer of the Commission,'
(ii) a serving or retired member of any government security or law enforcement agency;

Except Bakare falls into the category above, not possible

Worriedwife:
This issue has been disturbing me, I had to create a new id to get advice 'anonymously', maybe someone else who has gone through this can help. My husband's dress sense is poor, his shoes look like weapons...pointed mouth with very heavy soles. His colour combination is something else. He is a good-looking young man but dresses like an old man.

It makes me not to find him sexy, even his boxers look like soccer shorts.
Whenever we go out, people look at him like he's my gate man. The other day, we went to visit some family friends and someone there said, we don't look like we came out from the same house.

You know how people can be, news have been going around that I am spending all his money on myself while he goes about tattered. My in-laws are also part of the rumour mongers. I have tried to teach him, but he's not ready to learn. Before the usual didn't you know when you married him questions, I knew. He kept saying I am just a girlfriend and I want to change him. Now I am his wife, he still won't change.

Please, what can I do? Won't it be rude if I throw his old wears away?
We recently moved to PH, I don't know my way around yet. Things look expensive here, where can I shop at a fair rate?
I need practical solutions. Thank you all

I heard from a very reliable source.

They complained that the new 4G LTE rolled out by the GSM operators data prices are too cheap and may put them out of business.

I will do away with my Smile modem once my current subscription is depleted.

I was enjoying the 4G on Airtel until my phone screen broke completely and made me resume using Smile.

Internet should be cheap and made almost free. Just for leaving my PC on for a day, it consumes about 2GB. So why should they try to choke us with it?

Please be informed that your very Reliable source is actually very unreliable.

All these conspiracy theory is very unfair to these small operators, Nigerians live on rumor and we are too lazy to do basic checks.

Great, but it was not stated that, any operator complained to NCC.

If you see where that is stated, please show me. You see to be inferring that since NCC is set to protect the small players, they must have complained.

When NCC removed the seal , last October, they clearly stated that it was experimental

AZeD1:

http://www.dailytrust.com.ng/news/business/why-ncc-directed-big-telcos-to-increase-data-tariffs/173743.html

From the article the OP posted

"However, in a letter by the NCC to the operators sighted by our correspondent, the commission stated, “This rate will subsist pending the finalisation of the study on the determination of cost-based pricing for retail broadband and data services in Nigeria.

“In order to provide a level playing field for all operators in the industry, small operators and new entrants to acquire market share and operate profitably, small operators and new entrants are hereby exempted from the price floor for data services.”

It added, “For the avoidance of doubt a small operator is one that has less than 7.5 per cent market share and a new entrant is an operator that has operated less than three years in the market
."

Go and learn the meaning of floor pricing.
NCC never said the telcos should increase price of data, they gave them a floor price.
The floor price was removed last year with a caveat that it would be increased if there's a distortion in the market.

http://mobilityarena.com/what-nccs-withdrawal-of-data-floor-price-means-for-nigeria/

Educate yourself and learn to separate emotions from logic.

OK, FYI I have been in this industry for well over a decade.

From your link, where was it stated that 'rather it came about as a result of complaints of the smaller companies and new entrants (Smile and Ntel).'

That is my point, no one complained to NCC. Neither FG nor the new entrants gave a directive or complained to NCC

Phones / Re: Why You Should NOT Subscribe To Ntel Internet Service by deor03(m): 12:13pm On Nov 29, 2016
Why spending so much time attempting to de-market them.

You must be new to telecoms or being sponsored by a competition. Because , i see no rationale, why you will open a whole tread to slander a network growing quite fast

Time registered: November 28, 2016 This says it all

goodnetizen:
If you are considering subscribing to the latest internet service provider in town – ntel – I will strongly advise you NOT to subscribe, at least for now.

I will tell you why based on my personal experience with them.

REASON 1: EXPENSIVE ENTRY BARRIER

First, the idea of asking users to buy a 4G phone (the one they recommend is around N75,000) before they can access their service is just so plain ridiculous – it’s a very bad marketing and leadership decision!

And for those who have a 4G modem, you have to pay like N5,000 (depending on where) to crack it and you risk the modem being blocked permanently because of it.

I have used almost all the internet connections available in Nigeria and finally settled on managing Swift until it stopped connecting altogether, so I decided to give Ntel a try.

REASON 2: NTEL IS NOT READY & THEY ARE LYING ABOUT THEIR REACH

Admittedly, I was wary of using them in the first place because they are fairly new and can’t have covered much ground. But then, I also reasoned that they have less people on the network so the connection will be fast.

I decide to give them a try by subscribing N1,000 for two days. In that two days, the connection was faster than all the ones I’ve been using and everything seemed to work fine.

Then I decided to make the big leap by subscribing N10,000 for their one-month plan. Then the unexpected happened!
Few days into my usage, I saw “No Service” written on my modem. I thought maybe it was my location, so I left to an entirely new location, still the same.

Then I called their customer care and I was told that it is because their engineers were doing some maintenance.

What? Maintenance on Monday morning?!!! When I am supposed to use the internet to serve my clients. Responsible ISPs do maintenance at midnight (off-peak period) during the weekend.

This continued for another three days. I had no choice but to subscribe to MTN internet.

REASON 3: POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE

When I asked when the maintenance will be over, they refused to tell me. I contacted all their support channels: email, phone, whatsapp, Facebook. And they all give me the bullshit line: “Be rest assured the service will be restored SOON.”

When is SOON?

Few days after, their service was back. And they didn’t even bother to send an email or text to say it was back. I have to keep powering my modem on and off every day to see if they are now back online.

Two days after, there was no service again. I again called and get the same cover story. This continued till my subscription expired. In all, I was unable to use their service for more than 2 weeks!

REASON 4: IT’S A RIP-OFF

I then concluded that their service is not yet fully ready in my area, yet they advertised it as such and lured me in the first few days. That’s a rip-off!

To quote an email from them sent today (Monday, November 28, 2016), "Within the last 3 weeks, we have added additional 50 base stations around Lekki, Ikeja and Egbeda axis of Lagos state and also expanded the Gwagwalada and Asokoro coverage in Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja."

I asked them to compensate me for the service outage because I didn’t get what I paid for. Their customer care said it’s not in her power to do so. Imagine that!

Funny enough, they sent me a message that my subscription has expired and asked me to re-subscribe.

FORGET NTEL!

So, if you’re thinking about subscribing to Ntel, think again!

I think all these service providers are just taking us for fools, ripping us off with impunity and little is being done about it.
I consider this post a public service, since I can’t take a legal action against them because of N10,000, even though they cost me some serious business.

It’s time to show these people that their clients are the real boss and should be treated well. We can do this by taking our business elsewhere and sharing our personal experiences to prevent others from falling prey to their illicit business practices!

You can even read more about customer complaints here: http://naijaknowhow.com/blog/ntel-4g-network-mixed-reaction-by-concerned-customers/#

He does make sense. The floor price was set because companies like Ntel, Smile and Spectranet complained to NCC.

Stop saying what you don't know. The directive was sent to all companies by NCC not on the complaint of anyone
