Education › NAIJA AND CHINA WHO CHEAT PASS FOR EXAM? READ BELOW by DeRay98(op): 9:07am On Jun 07, 2017
This week, more than 9 million Chinese students will sit roughly nine hours over a period of two days for the gaokao, the high-stakes exam for admission to a Chinese college. Notoriously grueling, it can determine a student’s entire career path, and ultimately the kind of life one leads. At least 2 million of the test-takers won’t pass.

That’s why the gaokao, to be held on June 7-8, never falls short of cheaters. Exam halls have used metal detectors and drones to prevent cheating via high-tech gadgets. But what about hiring a surrogate to take the exam for you?

The US is relocating an entire town because of climate change. And this is just the beginning
For this, verification via ID cards is a must, but hardly enough. Surrogates can use their own photos on forged IDs, and admission tickets with the real test-takers’ information on them. Fingerprint checks have become common in many test centers, but surrogates have responded by wearing special fingerprint films of the candidates.
It’s a constant game of cat-and-mouse. Now authorities are embracing more sophisticated biometric technology. Since last year, Guangzhou officials have used facial-recognition programs (link in Chinese) to match students to their ID photos, admission-ticket photos, and headshots from high school (taken at graduation and uploaded to a database). This year the northeastern city of Qingdao is following suit, rolling out (link in Chinese) the same program to check some 35,000 gaokao candidates.

For the past few years, authorities in Sichuan and Liaoning provinces have also used iris-recognition technology.

The death of an IIT scholar reveals the struggle of ambitious women in India

Another method that’s proven useful is finger-vein recognition. Authorities in the northern part of Inner Mongolia have used it since 2015. Unlike fingerprints, images of blood-vessel patterns are under the skin and almost impossible to counterfeit.

Meanwhile, the government has increased the punishment for exam cheaters. Students who intend to cheat their way to the top could now face up to seven years in jail, according to a national law enacted last year.

Not really. They use gas also but the gas is connected underground from the company just like water, from the water company (Board).

No gas cylinders. All you see are the valves, pipes, meter.

That does mean if there is leak, and open flame there won't be fire. The difference is that no cylinders would explode. Secondly you can shut it off from the mains faraway from the fire area.
Leakage is not impossible even with this system. In countries where it's used houses still explode from gas pipe leaks.

The "story" is even somehow. But let me go by it.
1. How will your parents(or her own, whichever one) be comfortable that their daughter is in school and doesn't have a phone and refuse to do nothing about it? How do they communicate then? And the laptop(not everyone in the university have a laptop, and they don't fail because of that)

2. I don't know about you(or her) I can't put my man in a situation where he will be ridiculed either silently or directly by other guys or toasters at that. Just because my parents can not get me a phone., your boyfriend is not mandated to buy you a phone because that's not his responsibility. But if he gets it for you, fine, but let it be out of the goodness of his heart and not because you feel you are entitled to it because you are dating him.

3. I think she is already getting carried away by the gifts the toaster is going to shower her with if she eventually starts dating him. Because now she is talking about her boyfriend not giving her valentine gift. Valentine that was since February o, she will has that in mind.

I don't want to say she has longer throat. But collecting something from a toaster she claims not to "really" like(that means she likes him small) that you can't afford or your parents can't get for you for reasons best know to them(because they should provide everything you need since they don't want you doing any business while in school) is clearly disrespecting yourself and your relationship and is not worth it if you truly love your boyfriend as you say. Because she is already asking for advise to lie or not.. and unfortunately, there will be trouble either way.

She knows the right thing to do, so she should try to overcome the longer throat and save herself from wahala and guilt
Solid advice from a lady who has a sound mind, a pretty look and brains.
This combination is what a call a "beauty".
But wait oh, this your long refined "dada" no dey heavy you? grin

I still agree with her to some extent though lol. Some can be extremely immature & stupid. Not everyone's cup of tea. Sorry. I've never dated one though, only from observation. But the point I was trying to convey is, perhaps she's attracting the wrong type of guys, period, regardless of nationality. I remember her brief stay on BB & she was allergic to clothes even back then. Sadly, there was nothing else to remember her by, except that. So if all you have to offer is your behind, guess what? That's exactly how you're going to be treated, as a bootycall or whatever. The type of person that she is, is the type that'll attract guys with no depth or intelligence, perverts or good time guys who're only seeking for something to hump. Hudda is a bimbo in capital letters.

Saying Northerners cant cope with academic demands and lecturers in Uniben is absolute trash. What demands are you talking about? Sleeping with ladies or selling grades? Northerners are generally not attracted to Southern universities not because many cant cope but because of certain reasons. Northerners think badly of the South same way you people think badly of the North. That is the major reason you hardly find Northerners in Southern Schools. Even if u will give them free admission many will still prefer not to go.
Really, the ones that were admitted in my days on quotas for educationally disadvantaged states failed woefully 100 level and left.
If they are that good what's their population even in the northern schools that's their home? How many northerners score up to 250 in JAMB yearly?
"Sleeping with ladies or selling grades" Oh, you are so convinced that Northern girls don't sleep to get grades or Northern lecturers don't sleep with your female students? How naive you must be, that's the most laughable thing ever heard.

We that are leaving with these minorities are telling you people that the minorities will sabotage Biafra again without thinking twice because they don't want it,and you guys don't want to listen.
Minorities have never hidden their insecurities in being part of Biafra, minorities don't want to be part of Biafra and will never be. It's only the senseless uninformed agitators that imagined minorities being part of them.
The Biafran you quoted above is an example of what's wrong with many Biafrans,"all guts, no wisdom". That's going to be one of the challenges that biafrans will encounter if they succeed and within the first 5 years of their existence, they'll fight a civil war among the present states of the East.

fayaayoa:
Reading the piece makes me laugh, anyway am a yoruba middle aged man so I will definitely have sentiments like everyone of you.
My truth is Igbos and Hausa/Fulanis had alliance to control the country while the yoruba played the opposition. The pact was sacrosanct until the first coup which was biased and opened the eyes of every rational nigerian to know that Igbos were wickedly ambitious. This was the genesis of Hausa and Igbo hatred. The Biafra war was the result of 2 biased coups; yorubas were victims of the two coups.
The truth be told, presently yorubas are the unifying factors of the three major tribes. Yorubas have learnt their lessons and they are ones really playing the politics.
My advise is Hausa/Fulani should mentally disassociate from the belief they are meant to rule; they are least developed of the three tribes. they need to respect and appreciate every tribes especially the Niger-Delta and learn to work with them.
Igbos-whatever that happened in Biafra war was self inflicted. When wars are fought, many things are certain; destruction, death and hatred. You need to move on, don't get fixed on the past failure, play the politics. Germany has moved on from the world wars, Japan too. There is much better opportunities for the igbos in Nigeria than Biafra.
Niger-Delta- Restructuring has never being the problem. Bad leadership, you need to change the crop of leaders you have. There is absolutely no reason why the region has not developed with the money pumped in via 13% derivation, Federal allocation, NDDC and Ministry of Niger Delta., One of your son President for 6 yrs and so on. hold your leaders accountable then you will see the difference.
Yoruba- continue to play the politics and develop your region. Make other south west states an extension of Lagos. Make the south west autonomous for agriculture and industrialization.
You made some valid points here but not all especially claiming Yorubas are victims. There were groups among the Yorubas who wanted to join Biafra especially in the military, they fought on the side of Biafra. The Army commander who lead the troupes that temporarily took Benin for Biafra was Yoruba. He was defeated when Col. Ogbemudia resurfaced with re-enforcement after initially disappearing to avoid their arrest.

This interview has thought me more Nigerian History than any book before. I just became more afraid of the southern minorities again, and for the treachery of the yorubas, no be today e start.

Biafra is more needed than we think.
Whether you like it or not, believe it or not, the minorities which Biafra is claiming will never accept Biafra because they know that the Igbos will oppress and turn them 2nd class citizens. Igbos are domineering they only want to add the minorities to get the numbers. That is a fact!

There are peculiar attributes that set these 2 Unies (UNIBEN &UNILORIN) out; They are culturally centralized with little or no tribal dominance like most other schools in the country.
Cultural and language Blending is superb in UNIBEN. The only people you can't in good numbers in UNIBEN are the core Northerners who were raised in the core north (they can't cope with the academic demands of the school and the lecturers), those core northerners who grew up in the south are able to cope and fit in.
Most schools in the East are Igbo dominated and their language reigns in the air, likes schools in West, Yoruba language dominates and reigns.
Same is the story of Northern schools.

Politics › Afenifere Calls Fayose A Parrot. by DeRay98(op): 12:18pm On Jun 01, 2017
Afenifere, a Yoruba socio-political organisation, has asked Ayodele Fayose, governor of Ekiti, to focus on addressing the problems in his state rather than attacking President Muhammadu Buhari.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by Yemi Alade, its chairman, and Biodun Akin-Fasae, the publicity secretary, the group described Fayose as “a parrot who must talk at all times”.

Fayose, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has been an ardent critic of the Buhari-led administration since inception.

On Tuesday, he urged the president to resign due to his failing health.

The statement, entitled “God, Heal Our Land,” lamented the hardship being faced by the people of the state as a result of the current scarcity of fuel in Ekiti.

The group asked Fayose to face the issues confronting the state, particularly the lingering fuel scarcity caused by his dispute with Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (PMAN).

“It is shameful that Ekiti has become a butt of uncanny jokes and fast sliding to be a pariah among other states in Nigeria despite its God-given endowments,” the statement read.

“We wonder the whereabouts of Governor Ayo Fayose during the celebration of Democracy Day, a national activity. He was conspicuously absent from Ekiti for days only to resurface to abuse President Muhammadu Buhari requesting him to resign because of ill-health.

“Our governor is now a parrot who must talk at all times in and out of season; we believe that Mr. Governor should devote more time to think on how to move Ekiti forward instead of focusing and dissipating his energy on irrelevant issues.

“Afenifere also wish to sympathize with Ekiti workers that none of whom has received any salary this year, some since October 2016. And yet the governor feels unconcerned so far he can dole out a thousand naira and a cup of rice to the famished workers in the name of his stomach infrastructure, which many have described as a fraud.

“Currently the economic activities of the state has run berserk due to executive misapplication of strategic management of human and business relationship.

“Now, no one is sure of what happens next because of the misunderstanding between government and fuel marketers which has now degenerated into chaos.

“And this has been going on for two full weeks now and unfortunately, government is feeling comfortable and justifying its strategy by pulling down several of the fuel stations for flimsy excuse which not a few have interpreted as mere political vendetta and mere braggadocio on the part of the government.”

Sports › Re: What Has Happened To The Traditional 4-4-2 Soccer Formation? by DeRay98(m): 8:58pm On May 31, 2017
viewingcentres:
The most fundamental root to success in any team sport especially involving an opponent is the tactical organisation of the team. This is also true in football, as this tactical organisation is famously referred to as formation. There exist so many types of formation in the soccer world, and there had been transition from one formation to another over the years.

For example, football according to wikipedia was believed to have started with a formation that involved majority of the players playing forward i.e always attacking, this was depicted in the first international game between Scotland and England on 30 November 1872 when England played with 8 forwards in a 1-1-8 formation, while Scotland played six forwards in a 2-2-6 formation. As funny as it sounds, it was believed that the one defender will always get loose balls while the one or two midfielders will kick the ball up-field for other players to chase. Decades after that saw different types of formation in football, but one that seems very successful and stood the test of time was the traditional 4-4-2 formation. This formation was so popular that a notable magazine was named after it. But recently, it seems the formation is getting outdated as we have very few teams imbibing this formation. As beautiful as it is, what has happened to it?... get more on http://viewingcentres..com.ng/2016/12/what-has-happened-to-traditional-4-4-2.html
That was the formation that Bendel Insurance of Benin adopted to upset the then Almighty Enugu Rangers in the 1978 Challenge Cup final in Lagos. It was the effective and its was new to the Nigerian football scene of the 70s.

Yeah, they will surely change governance in Nigeria the same way they both changed governance in Cross River and Anambra.

Duke will simply build another failed Tinapa in Abuja and Obi will just refuse to conduct governorship election for eight years the same way he refused to conduct local government election in Anambra for eight years.
"Duke will simply build another failed Tinapa" was a good and productive project that made waves until Duke's successor abandoned it and all the projections that it was established for.
Failure of continuity by the a successor from same party killed it. Now everybody can see the speed at which Ambode is moving but his progress is the result of Tinubu's vision and recruitment,mentor-ship of younger dynamic, visionary and competent non-career politicians to continue from where he stopped. Fashola advanced on Tinubu's foundation and prepared a smooth platform for Ambode. The result is visible to all.
So, don't hate on Duke leave him alone. angry
