I didn't ask you for an explanation/special interpretation of what is clearly written in human language in that there passage - Luke 20 vs 34 - 36 - since I am quite able to comprehend the language for myself. undecided

And as indicated, what you declare contradicts what Jesus Christ revealed over 2000 years ago. undecided
I did not contradict what Jesus said. Try to read the passage from verse 27, that gives a clearer understanding of what Jesus was talking about.

What Jesus Christ said, not your convenient special interpretation, in Luke 20 vs 34 - 36 undecided
I've already explained what Jesus meant in that passage and it's not that I'm trying to suit myself.

Your point runs counter to that which Jesus Christ Himself declared in Luke 20 vs 34 - 36 undecided
What exactly are you claiming is counter to what Jesus said?

You need to stop trying to make scripture ,even Jesus Christ, say what you want Him to say. Instead, let Him speak His Truth to you.... that way you can infact be a Hearer of His Word to you. undecided

You can't truly be a follower of the Truth if His very Words seem to offend you, right? undecided
His words only offend people who are not willing to accept him as Lord and saviour.

I don't see how I'm making the scriptures here. My basic point is if someone wants a good marriage it should be deeply rooted in Christ and that's a biblical fact.

Kobojunkie:
sigh! undecided

So, you confirm then that as Jesus Christ clearly said, your marriages begin and end here on earth and so have nothing to do with the Kingdom of God? undecided
Okay, let's look at it from this perspective. God created marriage, he said the man and the woman shall become one flesh, from the days of Abraham he had his hands in the marriage of the people who trusted in him, he blessed them with the fruit of child/children. That's why I believe if one wants a perfect marriage it has to be rooted in God.

Meanwhile, Jesus was just saying there's not going to be marriage of man and woman in heaven not that he doesn't have hands in the marriages of people that seek him truly here on earth.
FamilyRe: Marriage Is Not About Unconditional Love by DeRichard(m): 8:25pm On Oct 25, 2021
Kobojunkie:
I prefer we take Jesus Christ seriously since He is after all the Word of God and our opinions are nothing but lies where the Truth of God is concerned. So when in Luke 20 vs 34 -36 He said that our marriage is of this world and not of His Kingdom, it is in our interest that we believe what He said rather than try to rationalize it in some way that diminishes His claim. After all the Kingdom belongs to Him and He knows best where it regards what belongs in it , and what does not. undecided
Jesus was explaining to some Sadducees about how men and women will be in heaven. They asked Jesus that who will be the husband of the woman in the after life since the same 7 brothers had her as wife (if you read from verse 27), and Jesus explained that in the world we are today men and women marry but in heaven there's nothing like marriage but every man and woman that makes it there will be as the angels of God.

Kobojunkie:
Matthew 6 vs 25 -33 doesn't in fact say we should seek what we eat or drink. Instead Jesus Christ teaches that we are to trust God for that which we will eat and drink, believing that God will provide it all, even more than He does for all His other creatures. undecided

And if you continue on, Jesus Christ also declared that after fining the Kingdom and Righteousness, that God Himself will add other things to us - we don't need to seek other things first to have them added by Him. undecided

Is it possible you have been reading your Bible left-to-right or something cause you keep misconstruing what is clearly expressed in it. undecided
I understand what you're saying but my point is if we seek the kingdom of God first we are definitely going to want provision from God and yes the Bible says God will add other things to us even if we don't ask but even the same Bible says ask and it shall be given unto thee.
FamilyRe: Marriage Is Not About Unconditional Love by DeRichard(m): 7:30pm On Oct 25, 2021
Kobojunkie:
So what you are implying here is that Jesus Christ, God's Word, did not in fact mean what He said there in Luke 20 vs 34 -36 , which is that your marriages belong in this world and are not of the Kingdom of God? undecided

Seek His Kingdom first and then you can go ahead and do all other things or have Him add all other things to you? undecided
If you read Matthew 6:25-33 Jesus talked about the fact that we seek what we'll eat and wear before seeking the kingdom of God and he emphasized that the kingdom of God should come first and every other thing shall be added. It's just a way of saying after we seek the kingdom of God first we can then seek other good things of life which will be added.

Kobojunkie:
Yet the same Jesus Christ said your marriages are of this world and not of His Kingdom in Luke 20 vs 34 - 36 undecided
Stop trying to use Jesus Christ as cover for what you pretend is of Him. undecided
That passage has deep spiritual meanings. He was just trying to say majority of the people of the world are deeply concerned with marriage at the expense of the kingdom of God.

What God wants is for us to seek his kingdom first then we can go ahead to do all other necessary things because it was God in the first place that instituted marriage.

kayode69:
Dear Nairalanders,

My name is Kayode Sherif, I'm a 300L student of a state university in the country studying a 5 year course.

Last year, (during the lockdown).... I was hell broke(so broke I couldn't even feed)

I had heard of this online business, but I didn't have any guidance on how to go about it, AND I didn't even have money to buy the course available for it.

I decided I was going to find a way to buy the course, so I took a job as a fuel station attendant (I worked there for 6 months) I saved up some money.

I bought the course and started studying and implementing all I had learnt, day and night...

It was as if nothing was working "I was desperate! I wasn't making money."

But I kept on...

Finally this year, I got the breakthrough. I got my first payment.

Fast forward to today, I have been making at least 250k in a month but I can't keep up with my school.

I'm thinking of terminating my school but I don't want to make a decision that will affect me for the rest of my life so I'm seeking for your honest opinion.

Should I quit school and focus more on my online business?
Education comes first. The skill which you've gotten so far will take you far just close eye and finish up and the rest will be history but above all make sure your name is written in the book of life because it's only God that can make all things well for a man till old age.

Do you agree?

I am watching a series and in one of the episodes a couple goes to see a marriage counselor. She tells them that marriage is not about unconditional love but an agreement to show up the best we can. It is meant to challenge each spouse to bring out the best in them.

How useful is this kind of advice?
The best marriage is a marriage deeply rooted in Christ.

There are still some true churches of God that are very good. As for me, I can only recommend C.A.C., Deeper Life and Redeemed because I'm sure of their root that they're set up by God.

Meanwhile, the main thing is to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and saviour and then he will direct you to the best church where you'll serve him in holiness.

Why are Godly parents not raising Godly seeds?

Adam and Evil failed over Cain
Noah failed over his children.
Isaac and Rebecca did not have perfect children.
Eli lost because of his children.
Samuel's children made Israel to ask for a king.
David was abysmal over his children.
Pray to God to be good parent that will not cause your children to err to God!
The best a parent can do is to diligently try to teach the children in the way of the Lord but at the end we individuals choose either to follow God or the devil that's why the Bible says we will all stand individually to give account of the life we lived on earth before God.
CelebritiesRe: Burna Boy: Everyone Smokes, Not Legalising Weed In Nigeria Is Hypocritical by DeRichard(m): 5:58am On Oct 15, 2021
HeyCorleone:
Nigeria has a church in every street and how good are we living? Every police man in the country is either a Christian or a Muslim, still they go about harassing youths, extorting them, illegally arresting and jailing them, and for what? The infamous James Nwafor of Awkuzu SARS has a son that wants to go to the Seminary. That shows you how big of a ‘Christian’ he is. Did that stop him from murdering scores of youths during his time as CSP?

Lecturers in Universities that succeed in making the lives of students hard are mostly Christians or Muslims. Does that stop them from being a pain to students?

How has religion or morals helped Nigeria to succeed? Youths in ‘immoral countries’ like Canada and Netherlands (where weed is legal) are assured of jobs as soon as they are done with universities. That way, they would not have time for crime and other questionable activities. Is it not better to live in such country than stay in one where you pray for ‘divine favour’ to get a job simply because there are scarcely any jobs? Lmao.

You people are funny. When you talk about morals in Nigeria, the question is where is it? Is it because we put up a front so much? Is that why anyone thinks Nigeria is holy? Countries that legalise LGBT, weed, and abortion are doing well and succeeding, their citizens know what good life is and are grateful to God. It’s we, the poorest of the poor, who keep yapping about righteousness and morals. Nonsense.

As far as my God is alive, Nigeria would legalise marijuana one day as marijuana is not the reason people are being killed in the north or the reason why Nigeria has a youth unemployment percentage near 50%. Maybe if youths found it easy to have jobs, they would be less pressured to try drugs in the first place. You ever think of that? No you don’t. You’re to stupid to form a thought.
Now you don't need to add abusive words to me to make a point. That's unnecessary.

In the spirit of meekness, there are only few Christians, and who are Christians? They are those who have accepted Christ as their Lord and saviour, those who have accepted Christ as their Lord and saviour only live according to the commandments of God and strive not to sin. The problem of the world today is sin and the only way to stop sinning is to accept Christ as Lord and saviour who can give the power to live a holy and righteous life because it's the word of God that says donot kill, donot commit adultery, donot fornicate, love your neighbour as yourself and it's only the power of the Holy spirit that can help any man to obey these commandments.
So, in the world today majority only claim to be Christians but deep down they're not because they've not repented of their sins and accepted Christ as their Lord and saviour.

Sin is the problem. With the righteousness and holiness of Christ in the world, the world we be a better place.

This is what the Bible says:
Proverbs 14:34 Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.

Christianity EtcRe: Can A Born Again Christian Be Possessed By Demon? by DeRichard(m): 7:07am On Oct 04, 2021
peggywebbs:
Yes it is very possible. You have to understand why people get possessed by spirits in the first place. I think sin is what leaves you open for evil spirits. Being born again does not make you sinless. I think we all sin and that is why we should every now and then cleanse our hearts. Ask for forgiveness and even sometimes do personal deliverance to keep ourselves clean so evil does not find a way.

The truth is the moment someone becomes born again by repenting of his/her sins and accepting Christ as Lord and saviour, the Holy Spirit enters into that person and from that moment no demon/evil spirit can enter into such a person. The only time that can happen is when the person backslides and leaves Christ to go back into the world which now gives room for Satan and evil spirits to operate.

Only people of the world can be possessed by evil spirits.

RomanceRe: Addictions: Which Is Hardest To Quit? Sex, Masturbation, Drinking, Smoking Etc? by DeRichard(m): 7:15pm On Sep 14, 2021
Ohthinktwice:
I had this conversation with some of my neighbors (three men) on which addiction was hardest to quit of womanizing, drinking and smoking.

My view was that it was womanizing, but they saw things differently from me and said it was smoking. They said it was easy to quit womanizing once the time for quitting comes, but the addiction to smoking was something else.

I had never smoked a cigarette or the likes before so I couldn't tell how difficult if was to quit, but I had a friend who was once a chain smoker, but once he repented and surrendered his life to God, that was it. The urge died instantly! It was so weird that a friend of his who knew him very well, said if my friend could quit smoking, that he also could quit the habit, because he knew how deep my friend had gone into it, that he himself was like a learner in the act.

That was perhaps what gave me the impression that it may not be that hard to quit the habit but my neighbors begged to differ.

I expect that there are others who may see things differently from us, because I know and have had of people who drink to the point that they become seriously ill but are still not able to quit.

Some others it's addiction to sex or masturbation that has made them to become depressed to the point of wanting to commit suicide, because they find it impossible to quit even if they know it's destroying their lives.

Hard drugs is another strong one which has held many in serious bondage, as some go to extreme lengths to pacify the urge. One married woman started paying for it with her body, by having sex with the supplier, after she had wasted all her life savings on it and no longer had money to pay for it.

Hence it appears that it differs from person to person, as an addiction someone finds hard to quit might be easy for someone else, and vice versa, but what do you think it?

May God help us all.
They're all easy to quit if you allow Jesus Christ into your heart and life and follow him strongly till the end.

Jesus Christ came to make things better for us. No man can truly understand the spiritual meanings of the Bible without the Holy Spirit being in that person.

You need to be born again before the Holy Spirit can reveal the true meanings of the Bible to you except if the Holy Spirit wants to convict you of your sins to repent.

What he meant in that passage is that when it comes to following him and doing his ways people will hate you, especially your family who are not born again because you're not behaving like them. If you're genuinely for Christ the world will hate you especially those of your family. That's what that passage means.

James 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

This passage shows that even good marriage comes from God because all good and perfect gift comes from God only.
