I agree totally with your take on the UN's role BUT the fact that we (the world) and the UN have been able to avert (until now) any major World-war scale violence is no mean feat. the UN would spread itself too thin if it keeps chasing any/every potentially violent situation around the world.

I know the failure of the League of nations led to the creation of UN and the world has not experienced a world war since its inception but that doesn't mean it hasn't failed. The way powerful countries are taking unilateral actions without consulting the UN is increasingly alarming, look at Russia's annexation of Crimea, US declaration of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and China's occupation of the south China sea all these contravenes international law.

UN was created in order to promote multilateralism but the powerful countries that gave birth to this body are the ones promoting a unilateral world order in present times and this is not good for world peace and stability. A Powerful country like US can act the way it chooses because no country can question her. Last year the ICC filed a case against US war atrocities and human right abuses in Afghanistan Donald Trump responded by threatening those ICC lawyers/judges with visa ban and sanctions now after much pressure from the US the ICC withdrew the law suit recently but if it were to be an African country the west would exert maximum pressure on that black country.

Destroying Iran will cost US a lot, the whole region will sink, Iran won't or dare provoke US, if you are current, you will see how careful they are, but they have made it clear that if you invade their territory, they will fight you. As for Hezbollah, Isreal can't do shii, give respect where it's due, Hezbollah is strong, I even read on quora how Isreali soldiers that fought the Lebanese war were acknowledging the strength of Hezbollah fighters. Those guys fought hard, they were not like Hamas, do you know despite a constant bombardment of Lebanon critical infrastructures, Hezbollah TV and radio station never went off?, Isreal was clueless, they didn't even know what to do. They bragged of ending the war within one week of air bombardment, little did they know Hezbollah were all positioned in a fortified location. In some battles 100 men guided an entire village, and IDF couldn't even progress further. If not for airstrikes, The casualties on Israeli soldiers would have doubled that of Hezbollah.

They were fearless, tough, brave,well determined, even Israeli soldiers won't write them off, now if Isreal tries rubbish, they will be facing a battle hardened Hezbollah militias who have gained a lot of experience from the battle in Syria (They are fighting side by side with Russia troops, such experience can't be bought with money).

Iran fought to keep its sovereignty with tooth and nail even when Iraq was using chemical weapons on them.

Now fast forward to 2019, Iran has so many affiliated militias in Lebanon (Hezbollah, strongest in the world, that even the almighty Isreal would think twice before stealing Lebanese land), Houthi Shia groups (Yemen militias kicking Saudi ass in Yemen), Syria military (If not for Iran, The rebels would have defeated Bashar al-Assad), Iraq (Iraq is now an ally of Iran). That's not all, Iran has a homegrown military industry, they produce their own rockets, guns, submarines, aircraft (thou inferior), sophisticated missiles, etc, now tell me how you intend defeating a country such as this with ease? or you think Iran is Libya?

US knows this and they know invading Iran unprovoked will end their influence in the region, this war won't only end in Iran, it will affect all Middle East countries including Saudi Arabia and Isreal, Just an order from Iran and see how Hezbollah unleash their madness.

US is powerful, but wars are not always won by that. a war with Iran isnt what we should be praying for, as millions will perish. God heal the Middle East.

War is not the solution to everything. Honestly the United Nations has failed. I think the reason united nations was created is to bring countries together so that they can settle their difference in a pacific way through diplomacy but the way powerful countries flex muscle against weaker ones won't help. US pulled out of a deal that major world powers initiated and wants the other party to continue its commitment to the deal, now you want to force her to come to the negotiating table isn't that funny? US has no right to unilaterally walk out of the deal this is a multilateral world for God sake. US should not make herself the emperor of this world anything regarding world peace and security should be resloved in the UN. I support a multilateral world order.
