After the dramatic League win last season, It was expected that Llandudno would build upon the past success and probably repeat the feats. A couple of players that do not key in with Chyko's plans were sold or left on free transfers.. But so far, there has been no replacements. This left Chyko with a trim squad that may not survive any injury attack. There are rumours of another influx of black players but that is yet to be seen. However such move is not strange, considering how well the earlier signings had performed and the dismal state of his club's finances.
Their European Qualifying fixtures began on a very positive note. After sneaking past Tre Penne on away goals, they produced an even more stunning performance to edge past Malmo; grabbing a goal lead in the return leg to equal the aggregate score and edging past them on penalties after Malmo players failed to find the net in their three attempts, Llandudno converting all of theirs. Would the fairytale continue and give Llandundo their first UCL appearance?
In recognition of their World Cup exploits, Ghana moved up to 15th from 33rd on the FIFA rankings; a continuation of their current performances may see them best their highest ever ranking.

Ghana headed to the World Cup tournament, determined but realistic of their chances of making it through the World Cup.
They showed grit in their first game to hold Portugal to a draw, much to the surprise of all and sundry. Their next fixture saw them defeat Switzerland, which was never expected. With Costa Rica up next, a draw was enough to take them to the next round.
They got the result against Costa Rica and advanced to the next stage where they would take on Columbia. After great work to hold Columbia to a draw after extra time, Columbia triumphed ob penalties, sending the Ghanians home, but wih their heads high.
At this point, the doubts the Ghana Football Association had over Chyko's appointment had been cleared and they celebrated the team's sojourn despite the difficulties.
Des Chyko headed out back to Wales, no doubt to prepare the Llandudno squad for their next targets.

This is much to the decision to sign cheaper better alternatives from the black gold country. Although Work Permits sort of distorted his transfer targets, the few that were able to come across did the job of getting their season back on track. Their outstanding performances week after week ensured they ranked among the league's best players for the season.
Marc Williams, a long-time favourite of the Llandudno faithful even before the arrival of Des Chyko to the club, bonded well with the new boss and turned in the best performance in his career this season. His 27 goals and 2 assists beat every other tally he has had and he was duly named Player of the Year as well as landing the Golden Boot award for this season. It will be interesting to see if Llandudno can hold on to him with a number of clubs interested in his services.
Des Chyko efforts to guide Llandudno to the league title also didn't go unnoticed. He bagged three more monthly awards in total and added the Manager of the Year award to but the gloss on his growing profile.

More good news for Des Chyko's Llandudno from his Ghana stars as they continued their rich vein of form with an occasional stutter here and there but strong enough to help them maintain their lead on the league's top ranks. Soon enough, two of his Ghana signings claimed Monthly award and Runners-up for the month of March in recognition of their fine form.
Llandudnos exited the JD Welsh Cup at the Semi Final stage with a poor but unlucky showing against West End to lose 1-0. Their next match however crowned them league champions as they roared to a 3-0 lead over TNS, their closest rival on the league table. The match ended 4-1.
Chyko would soon fly out for his country managerial duties as Ghana played their last two friendlies in preparation for their rather bleak World Cup future. They won the fixture against Montenegro but lost against Slovenia to compound Chyko's tactical heartache ahead of the World Cup tournament.

Strict work permit conditions meant out of about 60 bids for players, only five could get work permits to make the move. However, the £68,000 outlay on these players as well as their wages rocked the club's finances deeply. He immediately plunged all but one into his first team set-up, altering the team's formation as well and the signings stayed true to his hunch. His team embarked on another five game winning run to give them hope of ending the season with glory as they opened up a 4-point lead over TNS whom they beat 3-1 in the latest fixture.
Leading the pack is Nana Musah, a Ghanian Llandudno central defender who was named runner up player of the month for January after series of impressive displays.

Ghana did just enough to seal the top spot and qualify for the World Cup in what was a tense affair for Chyko..but the joy was shortlived as even the board didn't expect much to come off their World Cup campaign, drawn alongside far stronger teams.
In Wales however, Chyko's men has suffered some dip in form with a mixbag of results dropping them to 3rd position. However, in his African sojourn, he noticed cheaper alternatives playing for African clubs. He decided to raid these clubs during the next transfer window in January 2018, to save this campaign that was quickly running south.

Llandudno started the season with a dismal performance against a poorer team to crash out of a Welsh Cup competition. This was followed by a 1-1 draw against Newtown in their first league match of the season and question marks began to rise over their preparedness for the season.
However, the next four matches were against the top five teams of the previous season and Chyko's men won all four fixtures with two goals scored against each opponent. The season is indeed back on track! They're sitting quite nicely on top of the pile
Ghana continued their new found brilliance under Chyko with two more wins against Uganda and Congo, with Atsu running the show in both games. Ghana climbs three spots up in the World Rankings after this win.

Chyko's Ghana squad suffered two back-to-back friendlies defeats to Croatia and Russia although that was expected. However, they managed to surprise Serbia with a 1-0 away friendly win. Hopefully, they will be ready to play their way through the World Cup Qualifiers within the next three months.
Llandudno struggled to get any solid player on loan as almost 95% of their transfer offers were turned down. However, Des Chyko secured McCaul (winger) and Kurtis (midfielder) in deals amounting to £8k.
Meanwhile Llandudno were drawn against St Johnstone in the Europa First Round Qualifying and they managed to edge past them on away goals with Liam Dawson producing a masterclass performance in the second leg. They weren't so lucky against Trnava as a 2-0 away loss saw Llandudno crash out of the competition despite giving a good account of themselves.
They now focus on familiar foes as they hope to build on last season's performance.

LLANDUDNO SEASON SUMMARY:
With the club desperate to make European football, the board hired rookie Chyko to turn things around. And this he did, not without its difficulties though. He was able to transform a team battling with relegation to one fighting for the top honours. From being 4 points off relegation with an average 0.29 points per game under the former manager, Llandudno came back roaring to finish 5 points from top spot, averaging 0.59 points per game.
They won their last two fixtures, the game against Bala in particular, a delight and evidence of Chyko's ingenuity. Llandudno have faced Bala four times this season before this meeting; drawing one and losing the rest, conceding 8 goals in the process. This was a battle to be won for Llandudno and they turned up nicely for the game. With Sam Hart marking out star man for Bala, Chris Venables, Chyko's men exploited the spaces left by Bala as well as preventing them from playing their game; a 4-0 win the verdict.
The season thus ended on a good note but the main challenge lies ahead where they will be building on this performance and probably get a reward for a good job well done.

A return to the clubside saw Chyko pick up his first managerial award of his career as Manager of the Month for guiding Llandudno to a resurgent form.. However, their form capitulated as they failed to continue the winning streak. However, they remained two points from top spot in second position.
Chyko was allowed to continue his reign at Ghana and he turned things around in his next game, reorganizing the twam setup, with Ghana thrashing Egypt 4-0 with a lot of positives from the game. This performance satisfied the Ghana FA, giving them the belief that perhaps Chyko could prove them right in his appointment.

The African Cup of Nations was trailed with so many disappointing performances and results for Des Chyko's men.
They could only manage one win in four games. After managing to qualify for the next round, Algeria ended the run. The manager felt very unsatisfied with the contributions of the bigger players in the team when it mattered, especially with their wonderful feats last season.
The board are convinced it's the manager's fault though. They're beginning to feel theu made a big mistake appointing a rookie for such job. It is believed the next few games will seal his fate; that's if he stays that long.

With the manager motivation and players' dedication, the new year began with a 4-2 win over Connah's Quays, against whom a 1-1 was played in the last game of the previous year. Safe to say the hard work paid off as the team recorded five straight wins on the bounce, the last of which was a 1-0 win over League leaders, Bangor City courtesy a cameo strike from 88th minute substitute, Walsh. These results moved Llandudno to within one point of the league leaders
