These guys eh, they have studied our market. We focus more on aesthetic than quality, so they equally release phones with a nice look and feel, but if they accidentally fall eh, particularly on a cement floor... you are on your own.

You're probably referring to Google sheets.
It's not bad, the major attraction is that it's absolutely FREE. But it's cloud based, so you need to always be online to use it. Also it doesn't have a wide range of functionalities (particularity macros and all) like Excel; understandable considering it's a freeware.

Why not post screenshots. We need to see the content of the conversations not just excerpts to be able to conclude.

Basically desktop publishing, Ms word, excel and power point

For Excel, my personal favorite is - Excelisfun; https://www.youtube.com/user/ExcelIsFun/playlists - he has several playlists covering different uses of Excel (Accounting, HR, Formulas, etc.)

For Word, except your profession requires some sort of publishing (where mail merge, change tracking, forms, footnotes or TOC is required) , you can learn by playing around with the application.
While tutorial videos exist, you can try Simon Sez it; https://www.youtube.com/user/simonsezittraining/playlists

Desktop publishing - many applications can be used here, at the basic level some people even use Ms word or Power-point. Would recommend Illustrator or Photoshop (most popular). Not really my field so can't recommend here, sorry.
