Truer words have never been spoken.A mock political process on nairaland reveals the democratic credentials or rather lack of of the participants.
A few are sound minded folks like the poster of this quote who unfortunately would rather leave the process in the hands of others and not participate even when their participation and hopefully emergence could turn things around, embarassed embarassed embarassed
Quite a number work hard to exclude others and shroud the whole process in opacity using terms like "mainstream this" "son of the soil that" they know themselves. angry angry angry
Some will import the number magic used for decades in Nigeria into cyber land creating(or rather deploying already created) multiple id's to shore up votes. grin grin grin
In all the most distressing is the emergence of people who(by their antics) should have their names faaaaaaaaar from the ballot box. tongue tongue tongue tongue tongue

bittyend: Remo people have always produced Yoruba leaders - we can't change the trend now, bruh.. Tai Solarin, Awolowo and Abraham Adesanya - the names speak for themselves.

Oyo and Osun people are too warlike, incoherent, unsophisticated, and village like to be Yoruba leaders.

That's my humble opinion..

My 2p!
O ti gbagbe Wole Soyinka. He's from Ishara.

Jarus: Andre Uweh, I'm humbled by your vote of confidence.

But I know I stand no chance for the following reasons
1, I'm a northern Yoruba (from Kwara) and I believe the mainstream Yoruba (Oyo and Osun in particular) should produce the leader of Yoruba.

2, I am a proud Yorubaman no doubt, but I have never believed in ethnic supremacy. I see myself as detribalized. I'm not one to lead or take part in ethnic war. So I don't see myself as ideal candidate

3, Desola. Lol
Well said, aboki. You never qualified in the first place!

I thought that the thread title clearly stated that this is for Yorubas only?

What then are okoros doing here?

Can some epople read? How did electing a leader now equate an Oba?

Moreover, are people actually taking this seriously?

arole_odua: I have been lurking on NL for a while, and I think it's high time we formed Egbe Omo Oduduwa on NL - to talk exclusively about issues affecting Odualand. We also need to stop getting involved in the unnecessary tribal feuds on NL, and focus on how to develop Odualand and Nigeria to a larger extent. I'll create topics from time to time to talk about what's going to in Yorubaland; and ask for suggestions on what needs to be done to make Yorubaland great again.

These are some of the names I will like to nominate:

- Negro_ntns
- Katsumoto
- Ekt_bear
- Dayokanu
- Eko_ile
- Desola

Please vote, and you can add more names to the list.

Thanks.
Desola ke? I didn't know i'll make the list o. Just make me the olori to whoever becomes king and make Ileke the iyalode.

My vote has been casted for Katsumoto even though he maintains that he is not Yoruba. sad

very very sound observation by the op.

I am happy that not all are blind by the goings on among the western states. Africa is the prize baby.

shymmex: You need to check my profile, and see I'm from Lagos.Lagos is home town to me, and I can't let silly people run their mouth because we allowed them to settle there. I don't care how you take it, but we the REAL LAGOSIANS have had enough - and if other people don't like Lagos the way it is, they need to leave and return their home state. Lagos was booming before they came, and will continue to boom when they leave. I want the old Lagos my pops used to tell me about - not the overpriced slum it has become. The whole damn city is overcrowded and people are still coming there in their millions. If you don't like our hospitality - return to your home state, period.

My comment has nothing to do tribalism nor being a tribalist - Lagos is home to me. undecided
I am equally a daughter of the soil through and through but it gets to a point where you have to see people for who they truly are. All the nl ibo bigots do is just to get you riled to respond to useless threads. You need to see that and move past the anger. Our prerogative is to get Lagos great again and it requires strategy. Rather than exchanging words with them, why not come together to find a lasting solution?
PoliticsRe: . by Desola(f): 5:07am On Apr 05, 2012
Shymex,

must to always rise to the bait? This whole tribal tirade is getting old. Rather than engage mindless bigots in their jealousy, why don#t we create threads to discuss how to move our region forward and forget about no gooders leaving them to dwell in self pity?

The fact is that if ibos truly wanted to leave, they would have long done so and not continually move into the Yoruba region in their droves daily.

Leave these tribal wars and lets concentrate where it matters. This time in our history is crucial and our generation have the opportunity too make Yorubaland great once again, that, should be our primary focus and not showing how big our co.ck is.
PoliticsRe: Explanation For the Tribal War On Nairaland by Desola(f): 5:40pm On Apr 04, 2012
Beaf: The explanation is just a lot of silly kids who have never been to Nigeria or have spent too little time in the place. It makes them think that the various ethnic groups are gangs to which they swear allegiance. 99% of the so-called bigots live abroad.
...And the remaining 1% left back at home is headed by your twisted self.
