Emeka,

I have said it before and I will re-iterate that the SW would never vote for a SE prsident. Forget the tribal enmity on this site for a second and think objectively.

How have the SE proved to Nigeria as a whole that they are capable of running a government effectively. Don't bring Nollywood(they are totally tribal) or spare parts and that "we are the economic powerhouse of Africa" bile into this now. We are talking politics and good governance here now. Who is capable of picking up the mantle and please do not bring Amaechi into this as we all know that he is a SouthSoutherner whose quota is currently in use. Who would you front and why? Why do you think the SW should vote for him/her without throwing the "we are southerners" hogwash or "let's stand against the North" nonsense.

Tell me why we should vote the SE and not NC.
PoliticsRe: Oluremi Tinubu Is Itsekiri by Desola(f): 8:18am On Jun 04, 2011
@bluetooth,

I agree with you. Yorubas would say omo ale ni o n f'owo osi juwe ile baba e (translation: only a bastard gives direction to his fathers house with the left hand). A true Oodua son - home and abroad, would say loud and proud that he is such.

Yes, all Yorubas from those in Lagos through to Kwara speak different variations/dialects but are always proud to identify first as Yoruba. If Itsekiris say that they are not, because they found themselves in a land surrounded by Ijaws and Urhobos and have now lost their identity, then I'm happy to accept them by what they say they are. Even the Yorubas in Kogi (who just like the Itsekiris would rather be known as OKun) who now find themselves among Hausas are proud to say they are Ooduaites.

@kasiem,

how is ACN an anti ibo party?
PoliticsRe: Oluremi Tinubu Is Itsekiri by Desola(f): 9:36pm On Jun 03, 2011
Lol, can you force them to be what they believe that they are not? How would a Yoruba feel at being called Igbo?

I was also of the belief that Itsekiris were Yorubas but judging by the assertions made by the Itsekiris on this thread, i'd agree that they are not. Yorubas anywhere in the world are always proud to proclaim their 'oduduwa-ness', so for Itsekiri to reject it, I would accept that they are not.
PoliticsRe: Pdp Should Return Chairmanship Slot To Southeast, Says Ngige by Desola(f): 9:33pm On Jun 03, 2011
Terrible, terrrible, terrible! It would do him a world of good to decamp to the PDP now rather than do any further damage to the ACN. Shouldn't the ACN be making him toe the party line?

It is clear that Ngige does not believe in the ACN manifesto/ideology (if they ever had any). He only used the party as a platform to get elected, he is still very much a PDP apologist.
PoliticsRe: Oluremi Tinubu Is Itsekiri by Desola(f): 9:25pm On Jun 03, 2011
Okay o, Itsekiri is not Yoruba as confirmed by the Itsekiris themselves. They only speak a variation of the Yoruba language. END OF!!

TravelAir Nigeria Launches Long-haul Operations With Daily Lagos-gatwick Route by Desola(op): 7:39am On Jun 03, 2011
Gatwick Airport has announced that Air Nigeria - the national flag carrier of Nigeria – is to launch its first international route outside Africa with a daily London-Lagos route from 1 September, strengthening the links between the financial and economic centres of the UK and Nigeria.

Flights will depart from Gatwick daily at 2230, arriving into Lagos at 0430 the next day, with the return leg leaving Nigeria at 1410 and landing back into London at 2010. Air Nigeria will operate the A340-300, which flies 295 passengers in a typical two-class cabin layout, from Gatwick’s South Terminal.

The UK is one of the largest investors in Nigeria with cumulative investment of several billion pounds by Shell, BG and Centrica in the oil and gas sector. There is also a large Nigerian community based in the UK so the new route will predominantly interest business travellers and passengers visiting friends and family.

Guy Stephenson, Gatwick Airport’s Commercial Director said: “It is great to welcome Air Nigeria and reconnect London Gatwick with Lagos. The UK has a large Nigerian community and there are strong trade and investment ties between the two countries so it is important that we maintain good air transport connections.

“Around 600,000 passengers travel to Nigeria from London and the South East each year so we expect a good take up on this route from Gatwick, especially given the airport has the quickest and most direct link into central London and we are investing £1 billion to improve our passenger services and airport facilities.”

David Amurun, Air Nigeria’s Country Manager for the UK said: “Air Nigeria’s return to its long hub operations with a London-Lagos route is exciting news for passengers. Gatwick Airport has excellent links into London and the South East making it easily accessible for business travellers and passengers wishing to fly between the UK and Nigeria to spend time with friends and family. We look forward to commencing flights in September. “

Air Nigeria’s preference to operate its London-Lagos route from Gatwick sends a strong message that Gatwick is changing and becoming the London airport of choice for airlines wishing to establish and develop a strong London network. It follows other airlines who have, over the past few years, chosen to move their services or entire operations from other London airports to London Gatwick, such as airberlin and Norwegian.

Gatwick also has spare capacity to grow on its single runway, which enables airlines to expand their operations and achieve their own growth potential. This, combined with its £1 billion investment programme and its quick and direct links into central London are helping to position Gatwick as the London airport of choice.

flew Arik last July on international flight.

1. flight scheduled departure was 10pm; we didn't leave until 01:30am, thereby missing my pick up at Murtala Mohammed.

2. Despite all the delay; a cabin crew (white0 was utterly rude ; telling a passenger that she was deaf because she claimed not to have heard her name being called.

3. No in flight entertainment.

4. Food was so - so.

Alh-harem,

You are not any different from Calculia, who refused to admit that Phillip Emeagwali claimed to be Yoruba despite showing him/her documentary evidence.

A number of us on this thread have corrected you that Remi Tinubu is infact from Ogun state and have pointed you to online links which supports that assertion butstill you refuse to receive the gospel. You are totally dellusional.
PoliticsRe: Oluremi Tinubu Is Itsekiri by Desola(f): 11:27am On Jun 02, 2011
@kpogede,

I for one see Itsekiris as Yorubas. However, I am confused about the point you are trying to make here.

Is it that you are saying Itsekiris are not claiming to be Yorubas rather, its the Yorubas in Warri who are claiming to be Itsekiris?

What is your personal view about the Yoruba-itsekiri relationship?

@dem_peo,

How is asking people where they hail from, diverse? What? like you didn't already know that Nigeria consists of 250 ethnic groups?

Diversity would be asking how many Nigerian languages each individual speaks; did they study outside their region? Which other Nigeran cuisine aside theirs they cook or enjoy? Which tourist destination in Nigera aside one in their geographical location have they "holiday-ed" etc.

Our diversity is the ability to embrace each other culturally and showcasing ways and manners in which we are intertwined and not coming out to just brag that "I am Igbo from the village of Umofia" or silliness like that!
PoliticsRe: Matters Arising by Desola(f): 11:57am On Jun 01, 2011
@dem-peo,

You can hide under the veil for however long you like. Unfortunately foe you, the veil is transparent and we can see the masquerade under it.

Cleverly opening an ethnic profiling thread all in the name of celebrating ethnic diveristy has not gone unnoticed. It was on your watch that on that same thread, some parties were boasting that a particular group run the roost but because you belong to that group, you refused to throw the book at them. Rather, you came down strong on those who saw you for who you really are and your gimmick at proclaiming one over the other. We are not silly o. You, along with Beaf should never be considered for moderatorship!
PoliticsRe: Matters Arising by Desola(f): 11:40am On Jun 01, 2011
If we have to take Beaf in order to take Kobo, then I'd say neigh to both! Beaf is absolutely bigotted and a partisan to PDP and Gej and can therefore not be objective.

I vehemently reject Beaf!

Hopefully, that wouldn't be too hard for you to comprehend.

You can fart for all I care. You're the only one who's negative about a thread that celebrates our country's diversity. Can't you appreciate the beauty in having all these wonderful ethnic groups and states listed? Are people not having fun in this thread by seeing where our various countrymen and women originate from? What harm is it when posters list their state of origin or are you simply bringing politics into this? Have you seen where a poster was lambasted for listing his/her state of origin or ethnicity?

This thread is a celebration of who we are - Nigerians of different states and ethnic groups. Everyone is welcomed here. Change your mindset.
Na wa o. So una no know where una originate from before you enter insai marriage? Which kain arrange marriage be dat?

What is the point of stating where you're from? You are all married to each other and you bear your husband name - Nigeria. Abegi jo!

@Desola, no offence intended, writing in any other language other than English language is against the rules and regulation of this forum. There is no harm in writing in your language but it has to be in the cultural section. Reread the rules again.
@Andre Uweh,

No offence intended but as you are said to be celebrating Nigerian ethnic groups with Yoruba being a major language (and my first language), i'm well within my rights and to show patrotism, i'm going to converse in my language for the benefit of my kinfolks. I am an Oodua child and proud to proclaim it here. Moreover, my language is inclusive in the national curriculum and this site being Nigerian oriented should permit me to spit in my eede abinibi. In Africa, Yoruba existed before the advent of the English language and I am Yoruba before any other nationality.

Infact, itan ni gbogbo eyi ti mo n so yen. Omo Oodua ponbele ni mi, mi o de ni fi owo osi juwe ile baba mi. Agunla, agun tete!
