This man, you get sense. I always like your analysis on issues.
GAZZUZZ:

I Turned on my app 3weeks ago,
just closed from work, wanted to do a few trips b4 going home.

first request was @ akilo near latter rain. I drove to location, called rider and low and behold it was the boi of my spare part supplier cheesy, he was surprised he said "ah Oga you too de drive uber" I said yes o! I now asked him you to de enter uber? That's when he did the math for me.

4 of them were going on a 5km trip, it would cost them between 400-700naira. It was rush hour, keke was scarce, bikes were unavailable. Keke would charge 1k drop @ this time, but uber with my ac and DVD charged N635 for the trip.

What is happening in lagos is a revolutionary, people are taking advantage of E-hailing business, more riders are coming on board people are getting smarter.

Let me give you a final example.

On Sunday I got a request from around charlie boi bustop area, I called rider and asked the usual where u de go? angry the guy said babcok university please sir can you go? I went to location, carried 4bois and filled up my boot with all their luggage, o traffic, 78km trip. I knew it would not be profitable since there would be no rides back, but we'll I was done for the day, and I wanted to do the long trip any way.

End of trip 5460 naira.

Lagosians have realised that it is cheaper and safer in most cases to use UBER (not taxify) for trips when paired than go with conventional public transport.

The market is growing, there will be space for every one.

some time I get angry when I see a crowd people at the Base of ikeja bridge waiting for 1 rickety Dando bus or keke napep to take them to ogba. If 4 of them join forces, @ 150naira it would be enough to take them to ogba with a.c and good music.

With time and more awareness, uber drivers will be busy round the clock.

Greetings to everyone,

Please I need advise o; right now I have a 2008 corolla, highway mileage of 140,000 km, in a very good shape and maintenance through Toyota up to date. My plan is to ship it to Nigeria from Canada before year end and register the vehicle with ulber for a weekly pay of 25k.

My question is, if this car meets ulber standards and if a driver will be willing to pay 25K weekly?

LOL this guy sef...Its Shoprite, not shoplite.. grin
FYI there is no middle class in Nigeria
chebeoc:
[quote author=Pavore9

Pollution and your daring kenyan still use coal to generate power. stop comparing Nigeria with America we're still developing country.for business shoplite don't have any reason to stay in east africa because nigerian middle class are more than east african middle class combines together so i don't think they have any to stay. And because nigerian rich men are not looking towards Retail business doesn't mean they are not doing well in their field, we're close in taking over oil and gas business in our country which nigeria is known for and investing in many african countries even in your east africa. For exchange rate you're talking of sending 100,000ksh to make 470,000naira and i want to ask you for how many years? any business that give you profit of 100,000ksh in kenya will surely gives you 1million naira in nigeria. things are happening outside nigeria really but not in kenya and nowhere in ss africa except s.africa.

Why are you just carrying on blabbing sef? You are just talking like a child please oga chebec...Even in the midst of glaring evidences, you still wanna prove what doesnt exist or make minute sense...

chebeoc:
[quote author=Pavore9

I don't have to reply that kenya dude because all he rant about are all what internet told him.
Come to you, even when nigerian government are not giving the masses electricity, individuals generate power by themselves than kenya, if you doubt let check satellite images of nigeria and kenya at night to know where is more light up. No fuel queue in kenya with how many cars, there are more cars in lagos alone to compare all kenya. Internet connectivity i don't know what you mean by nigeria still need 20 millions to meet up with kenya because more than 70 millions nigerians use mobile phones to surf internet and population of kenya is less than that.Talking about business i don't know where i'll start to educate you, Nigeria economy is bigger than east africa economy that's why you see big companies from india and China come to nigeria and prosper. every year nigeria economy produce many dollar millionaires i don't know how many east africa economy produce all together you're talking about kenya. even if nigeria have 60% poverty rate 40% is 72 million people which bigger than all kenya.

Nice one bro......its funny how people who havent stepped a foot in Canada, people who dont know how things work in Canada to just jump up here and say stuffs....Now we have heard from someone who is on ground in Canada 'LIVE'....so the lady who has gotten her trv already...start looking for your air fare, and when you get to Canada, do as the above monicker has adviced...
Gymme:
In spite of what others have said, i am gonna talk from experience here.

She can travel down here and inform CIC (not at POE though) of change of DLI but after getting to her final destination OR

Go to her proposed school and DEFER her admission (that is if she resumes before the school's deadline to 'withdraw') OR

Take a leave of absence (but 'some' schools require schooling for at least 2 semesters before granting this).

After choosing any of the options, she can renew her Study Permit WHILE AS AN ACTIVE STUDENT. Meaning she must be in school during her second year in Canada for her to be able to renew the permit.

Someone once mentioned a guy not being able to get a job in Canada a year after graduating with a degree in Chemical Engineering..while i quite agree with some points you raised, albeit there are challenges of job everywhere in the world..In Alberta, alot of folks have lost their jobs due to the crash in oil price and all that...but that doesnt make it a general thing in the whole of Canada...different strokes for different people..

Chebe01:

Hey guys – my little advice.

@NonelikeGod about PhDs. As an academic terminal degree, it should be linked to your previous degrees and work experience. PhDs are quite demanding from what I’ve observed especially in North America where it can take 4-6 years with a mix of coursework and research. So I don’t think it should be considered as a means to a PR but as a tool that’ll enhance your career growth and help you establish yourself in your specialization. You can get admitted with showing that you considerably have what it takes both academically and perhaps through your research activity and work experience.I can chip in if you have specific questions on the processes involved

@dessy8 I can also weigh in on studying/working in South Africa and Germany. I did one of my masters’ degree in SA and I am currently a faculty member in a university here in SA. Firstly, obtaining funding for your studies has become extremely competitive and having a PR or being a citizen is becoming much needed to become eligible. This is coupled with the “fees must fall” protests earlier on this year which has dwindled revenue opportunities for universities here. Do you know that universities are now encouraging early retirement as a cost reduction strategy in SA? That goes to show how bad things are getting. SA is currently going through economic problems jobs are not readily available as you may think. Did you read about the Chemical Engineering graduate that was looking for a job for so long that she made a placard and stood at traffic stops soliciting for employment? That is one of the many examples of how hard things are getting here. Also, if you’re planning to specialize in natural sciences like physics and astronomy or aeronautics, the job market is very sensitive and only open to citizens.
About Germany, I was admitted to University of Heidelberg for a PhD. Yes, German public universities are tuition free. Your best bet for funding would be DAAD which would give you 1000 euros per month as living expenses (it has become very competitive now). You can work for 120 full days in a year but the major barrier is language so your best bet would be to work within the university which is dependent on your supervisor etc. Also if your German is good, you can apply to other funding bodies. Working after graduation isn’t easy too largely because of language barriers and employment rules.

Finally, bear in mind that heading to North America with a PhD degree from Germany (and SA) for instance, you’ll have to entertain the debate of which programme is recognised and at par. German (and SA) PhDs like European PhDs are 3 years while in North America it ranges between 4-6 years.

Canadian Social system is top-notch, their education very good BUT their immigration and visa processes are ridiculous IMO

SA, GERMANY, ITALY...this are other options to consider.....just Heard from a south african that just having a National certificate in Engineering alone(SA qualification) is a big thing in SA.not to talk of BEng,MEng OR Phd....Secondly a high school classmate of mine currently on full scholarship doing his Phd in capetown attested to this same fact...he said many major multinational companies recruit students even before they graduate, companies like PetroSA, Chevron SA and a host of other companies..The reason is cos most South Africans dont like studying these Eng courses..He also told me the govt spends huge sums bringing in people from outside SA to take up this jobs...This info is not for everybody though..its just to serve as an alternative route for those who might not know about such routes..Cos for most peeps here its either Canada or nothing...Remember south african companies have very good remuneration packages..take a look at the companies here in Naija..SABmiller, MTN, Mnet.their conditions of service is similar with other multi-nationals.....to mention a few......SA may not be Canada,,but its a thousand times way ahead of naija...the fact that a typical south african doesnt like travelling out of SA even though his passport can allow him assess to alot of countries attests to this fact..

So my brethren,,while we keep waiting for the almighty trv, lets keep our eyes and ears open to other options..God will surely bless our hustle

My brother i cant but agree with you 100percent......I often wonder, is the streets of Canada laid with gold and silver,, are the trees filled with money?...I doubt that, cos its only in heaven that the streets are made of gold...
So what would make a commonwealth country treat her fellow commonwealth country with such disdain for her citizens?..Is India or the other Asian countries better than us??Why are they treating us with such indignity??
travy:
The day I applied for the visa, the processing time was 10 weeks, it's now 15 weeks, probably they think it's easy to move to another country within 1 week and settle down. I literally paused my life for months but I canceled my Canadian visa application and requested a refund a week ago. I got my U.S. visa approved on Monday.

I'm divergent in nature and I also have to protect my dignity. I will not pay processing fee just to be subjected to this biased and inhumane treatment. I have many things to say but one of the many things I find appalling is that they provide status update to many other countries within days or few weeks but keep us waiting forever as if we don't have any reasonable thing to do with our lives, yet we keep paying for this gullible treatment.

If you think all they are just doing is scrutinize application, you are wrong. Their main objective is to apply what is called Social Engineering, they are applying social and human control into the approval or denial process, that's why you will see some applicant who waited 20 weeks get denied with silly reasons like "Purpose of visit".

They need to treat all applicant with respect and dignity. I support those that have also contacted the Canadian immigration minister, I have also bitterly and constructively gave them a piece of my mind. Let's all speak up when we see injustice, by doing that, we are helping future applicants.

Good luck everyone.
