Justiceleague1: Lie...Na'abba was used by the northern oligarchs to attack Obj. Remember we just came from a northern military rule and they hated the reforms of Obj which was balancing things for all the regions. Part of the deal to pipe down the impeachment proceedings against Obj which was spearheaded by Na'abba and his HoR was for Obj to release Abacha's son, Mohamed from jail!
Did you know that? Why are you fighting and who are you fighting? First, where is the lie? Second, what is the different thing you have written from what I opined? Na'abba was always on OBJ's neck and checkmated him, same as Saraki. Tey and learn decorum, especially on social media. Research netiquette. |

The death of Governor Aketi came to me as a great shock. I couldn't believe it the first time I heard the ugly news.
May God, in his mercy, grant his loved ones, as well as the good people of Ondo State and Nigeria at large, the fortitude to bear the great loss.
Aketi will be missed because we both married from the same community.
For Umar Ghali Na'abba, I don't know much about him, but may he rest in peace, Amen. Seriously, you don't know Na'abba. You are joking right? 🤨🙄 |

seeker121: The key secret to that is that in Yoruba land when friends and family noticed you are at the verge of becoming wealthy or successful. They always sounds a key note of warning which goes like this "ti isu eni ba ta,a dowo boje".This literally means "if you are successful you hid it" and besides you hardly see Yorubas bragging they love it lowkey. You are very correct. It's actually an African proverb. But on the later part, you are not. On this thread alone, we have started boasting. One thing I've noticed is that old money people hardly boast |

Imagine players playing 70 professional matches within a season window span. This will only lead to further injuries and fatigue for the players. I tell you. Temi2468: .
Sorry about your loss my brother. Lecturing is a time bomb in Nigeria. Even the load alone not to talk of family can wear one out and shot one out before his time.
Right now, I'm doing the work of over four lecturers because the university is managing funds instead of employing more hands. We are being overused, complain, they blacklist you and frustrate the nonsense out of your life. Thanks man. Look out for one or two tech skills. You might not reap the immediate benefits but surely in the nearest future. |
Politics › Re: Tinubu Approves Exit Of Public Varsities, Polytechnics From IPPIS by dfrost: 11:59am On Dec 14, 2023 |
Temi2468: You're right. That's just the honest truth. Experiencing things sometimes wipes off ignorant babblings and shallow reasoning.
There are many things one can't say here. Imagine I am an academic, yet going to farm to make ends meet. It's distracting my research mind and dividing my passion. Just because what the full time job puts on my table is ridiculous and unsustainable for my family in relation to the biting economy and decreasing purchasing power. And the farming alone is affecting my productivity at work and even my health. I know a lot of my colleagues who have now parked their cars and trekking around town and the university community. It's shameful for this esteemed profession. Academics are suffering in Nigeria! My mind is not even here again because it's not worth the sacrifice I'm making.
So, when I see comments that come from naive minds sometimes, I just shake my head. Pele bros. I know the terrain. Coming from a family of professors, lecturers et al, I vowed never to plunge myself into that mess. I lost an uncle 4 month back to the rigors of the profession. Retired as a Dean but still went back to the game (another school though) because 'ends need to meet' and that was were he died. It's really crazy to say the least. |

Temi2468: Don't mind him. They don't think deep. They just type cluelessly. Thank God I'm now a Lecturer and know the stress we go through as academics in Nigeria. This year, RUGIPO poly was approved to be converted to a university. Meaning Ondo state now has 4 universities, yet AAUA is suffering poor staff welfare. Make we dey play. I like your submission. Meaning your dispostion would have been different if not your current position. Sometimes we need to see things through the eyes of the person passing through the experience. |

StJasper: This is a good development.
Most people attacking this decision don't understand how tertiary institutions operate all over the world. A lecturer can work and earn wages from more than one institution simultaneously. This is the method practiced all over the world. Do you mind educated illiterate? I pay no heed to them. Same individuals would be doing side hustle. Show me hypocrisy, I'll ask you to visit Nigeria 🇳🇬 😋😝🤣 |

omokab: many of the lecturers will not even come to class to lecture student until the end of the semester . They will tell you that ,they are to lecturer not to teach . Bros, you as the student reserve the right to drag him to the Governing Council of the school. Una dey play. A lecturer during my time travelled to Canada when we were about resuming first semester of our final year and didn't commence lectures two weeks in. We took him to the HOD who in turn dragged him to the Governing Council. Baba returned within 24 hours. Know your rights else things won't work. |

Cheating by lecturers earning multiple salaries from multiple university , earning as visiting lecturer, earn from private schools, earn for supervising Masters Students
Atleast they can stop their useless ASUU strike
. How does multiple teaching affect student's performance? Just how? If he performs well Good. Not as if schools are Industries that compete with each other. Some things are really not worth fighting for. I had a lecturer when I was in school, we cared less that he was lecturing in three schools. Ours was when it was time for him to turn up, he must turn up else we drag him to the top echelon of the school to answer. |
