rolexsms: The rate of killing by our own brothers in the east is so painful now.... yesterday I lost a relative.. he travelled to the village and when he was coming from the villa... he called us and told us he is close to lagos... we were happy.. his wife prepared his food for him and his little daughter was already jumping every where happy... after some time ..the next thing I heard was my phone ringing.... when I picked the call.. I was told that Mr tony had slumped at Maza Maza peace motor park ...I entered bike from ajangbadi straight to maza maza.. when I got their I saw him dead... the driver said he just came down from the bus.. slumped and died.. and that was the end.... this is the way many people die now.. without any thing happening to them.... someone just travels to the village.. and once his back the next thing is death or sickness.. why? we need to put a stop to this nonsense.. #thisnonsensemuststop enough is enough ...can something like the Bakasi boys still be brought up? My brother, I am very sorry for your loss, I cannot pretend to know how u feel, since I can only guess However, Kindly permit me to disagree with you over the cause of death. I am not claiming to know exactly why he died, and neither should you. While, it would be stupid of me to ignore the wickedness of man, I am more disposed to believing that there are more scientific/ medical explanation for his sudden demise. It happens every day. He may have suffered a pulmonary embolism, cardiac arrest, stroke or a litany of other sudden killer diseases. Please, ensure that an autopsy is carried out in a teaching hospital to ascertain the real cause of death. Once again, please accept my sincere condolence. May God grant those he left behind the fortitude to bear the loss. Ndo! |

Genesis 38:8-10
Then Judah said to Onan, “Go in to your brother's wife and perform the duty of a brother-in-law to her, and raise up offspring for your brother.” But Onan knew that the offspring would not be his. So whenever he went in to his brother's wife he would waste the semen on the ground, so as not to give offspring to his brother. And what he did was wicked in the sight of the Lord, and he put him to death also. Dude u can't be that dense! Really, u just can't be dumb enough to have arrived at that interpretation. I read the same passage for the first time in JSS2 and I wasn't confused by the very simple and self explanatory story. Why did God kill him? The story said he was killed because he was wicked by refusing to impregnate his brother's wife as was the custom then. His sin was not in withdrawing but cos he did it so that he cannot give a son to his brother. Read it nah, it is there in plain English. |

That Judge must be sick in brain. I really do think u need to learn a lot about how the legal system works. The judge did not prosecute the suspect. He only listened to the evidence presented to him. He did not decide to sentence pass a death sentence on the accused. |
Crime › Re: Man To Die By Hanging Over N14,570 Robbery by Dhotseal(m): 8:32am On Dec 04, 2015 |
The problem is not with the amount, the problem is on the means of carrying out the crime. The law says that the punishment for armed robbery is death by hanging. So when u go rubbing armed with any weapon be it knives, guns or bomb, u are committing a capital crime whether the gun has bullets or not or whether the knife was sharp not.
By the dictates of the law, the only sentence that can be handed down to somebody found guilty of robbery is death by hanging. |

mrlaw93: We use to live in the same neighborhood. She is a very decent lady, a good wife material. I love her so much and it took 4yrs for her to finally say yes. Four good yrs for her to accept to have a relationship with me. Now the relationship is about to crash in less than a year. Let me go in details...
During the 1st month of our relationship. It was the best thing that ever happened to me. It was full of love and i knew it will be a disaster to loose her. Our love life started during one of her long school holiday. She told me her last relationship was with a guy in her school, how they broke up due to irreconcilable differences. After few weeks of her resumption back to school i started seeing photo mixed by the guy on facebook tagged to her. Whenever i call regarding this issue she always say the guy does that just to gain her attention.
Weeks later, the photo mix grew into real photoshoot involving the both. She no longer call as she used to. She even ignore most of my calls. I started having this feeling that i have lost her but i still played along. She is again on holiday, we have met to discuss this issue. She told me she is now dating the guy due to his aunt's intervention. She said her feelings for me only come when am around her..
I dont know what to do.. I feel she as just used me to pass time. I feel cheated yet i dont wanna loose her. Pls nairalanders i need your advice. What should i do?

But some of us are educated enough to see when the veil abi blanket is forcefully being dragged over our faces.. My brother, you are still making the same mistake I pointed out earlier. You continue to view the SC as any other court. The decision of the SC is not that of an individual Justice. The court sits as a panel of 5 Justices. How can Justice Odili place a perpetual injection on her husband's case? If I'm not mistaken, she was not even on the panel that heard her husband's case. This is prohibited by the doctrine 'audi altarem patem' meaning "a man cannot be a judge in his own cause". This is one of the two Pillars of Justice. Anyways, my point remains that every judgement is informed by a lot of factors which may not be obvious to a non lawyer. |

Dear op, I do not need anybody to tell me that you are unlearned and lacking a basic knowledge of the workings of the judicial system. As a lawyer, I find your myopic and unguarded utterances very nauseating.
I cannot for the life of me comprehend why a you shoukd hid behind a faceless monika to drag a hallowed institution like the Supreme Court into your twisted politics.
Please permit me to correct your ignorance.
The Supreme Court sits as a panel, and it is the decision of a majority of the Justices that form the judgement of the court. Obviously u have an axe to grind with the particular Justice you singled out, but that does not give you the right to defame the person of a Justice of the Supreme Court.
Again, the decision of the court is based on law and facts presented to it. You are not privy to those laws and facts that informed the decision of the supreme court. I advise that you get yourself a copy of any law report and read the decision and the reasons behind it. That is, if you can read.
Pls,learn that certain things are sacred. We lawyers hold the institution of the Supreme Court in very high esteem. |

In Nsukka land, she is safe as long as she does not set foot on Nsukka soil. MizMyColi: Such tradition, whether it is applicable to man or woman, or both is simply barbaric and crude. It must be vehemently rejected. It promotes murder and oppression/bondage.
People should be free to make their choice and live with the consequence as meted to them by the cosmos.
It's really not in the place of any mortal (exceptions though) to determine who lives or dies.
Why destroy what you couldn't possibly create?
#MyTake Lol, for there to be murder, there has to be a perpetrator. In this case, the gods of the land are responsible. So, guess the gods must be crazy. Lol. I can relate to your sentiments, but then, it is the b tradition of the people. They accept it. I doesn't have to bother u though, except u happen to be married to an Nsukka man. |

Tallesty1: A married woman was caught in the act here on Friday. It happened right in her husbands house so neighbours were there to witness what happened. I was there too to witness the taboo cause her husband was just shouting that whoever was around should come and witness a taboo.
Sha, that is not why I am writing this post.
What actually necessitated this post was a convo I had with a man on my way back.
Man: It is stuffs like this that makes me appreciate where I come from.
Me: Huh
Man: I appreciate my village the more anytime I hear or witness something like this because married women don't cheat on their husband in my place.
Me: How is that possible?
Man: They Know what would happen to them if they dare cheat on their husband.
Me: What will happen to them.
Man: If a married woman sleeps with another man, or collects money from another man, or spends her husband's money on another man without telling her husband, she will run mad.
Me: And if a man sleeps with another woman?
Man: Nothing, except the woman has a husband.
What he's saying in essence is that a married woman who sleeps with a man that is not her husband or collects money from a man who is not her relation or spends money on another man without informing her husband will lose her sanity. The madness is curable but she must confess her sins to regain her sanity.
So Nairalanders, what do you think of this people's tradition?
BTW, the man is from one village at obollo. Obollo is in Udenu Local Government of Enugu State. My own village is just a few klicks from there, and I can confirm it. Adultery by a woman in the whole of Nsukka and environs is a huge taboo. The most dangerous is Engwu Ezike. As a woman married to an Nsukka man, u better be sure to never set foot on the soil after the act, even if done in the United States cos the day the woman sets food on the soil, she loses her sanity. You may call it what u wish, but it is as potent as can be. |

I take it then that u would rather have women go to church in their ancient African attire with bosom and all being in full public view? I think it is rather shallow for anyone to argue that trousers is strictly a male clothing. FYI, there is nothing African about a pair of of trousers, our forefathers walked about almost naked in their loin cloths. The women had nothing to cover their chest most of the time. By your argument, that's how they should go to church...right? Would u also condemn an Ijaw man who tie wrapper to church? Culture is dynamic and always in a state of constant flux. Coming to the bible, who told u that Jesus wore trousers? In fact, from Jewish tradition, I believe he must have worn something that looks like a gown. Nairaland General › Re: INEC Official, Three Other Female Dead Bodies Found In Room In Anambra by Dhotseal(m): 10:31am On Sep 10, 2015 |
kachysblog: By Vincent Ujumadu
Awka—DETAILS emerged, yesterday, on the discovery of four female dead bodies in a room in Ifite area of Awka, the Anambra State capital. The Anambra State police command discovered the dead bodies in a room occupied by a couple on Olisa Onyeka Crescent near the Commissioners’ quarters in Awka GRA.
Two of the dead bodies were said to be holding Holy Bible at the time they were discovered and they might have gone to pray with the tenant of the room when they met their death.
One of the victims and a tenant in the building, Mrs. Chinwe Obi, a Grade Level 14 officer with the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, hailed from Uruagu, Nnewi. Until her death, she was the electoral officer for Onitsha South Local Government Area.
It was also gathered, yesterday, that the husband of Mrs. Obi, who returned to Nigeria from Cotonou, Benin Republic, died about a week ago in the same room and the body is still in the mortuary.
The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Hosea Karma said that following volunteered information, he went with his men to the scene and discovered the bodies after neighbours tried Mrs. Obi’s telephone line severally without any response. According to Karma, the decomposing bodies of the women had been taken to the hospital for autopsy.
The CP said: “A report came to us that a woman was being called on phone without anybody picking it for two days and we had to mobilize to her residence. On getting there, we had to force the window open and saw the bodies lying on the floor. “The bodies found in that room were without bruises which was an indication that there was no attack from anyone.”
Karma said that the other three women, whose identities had not been known, were being suspected to be her church members who came to sympathize with her over the death of her husband.
The police commissioner said, however, that the police discovered a generating set and a remnant pot of soup suspected to be carbon monoxide or food poison respectively. The commissioner disclosed that the soup as well as their bodies had been taken to mortuary for examination.
http://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/09/inec-officer-three-other-female-bodies-found-in-room-in-anambra/ First, it is too quick to rule out anything as the cause of death. We can't continue to be this unprofessional in handling possible homicide. The fact that there are no apparent evidence of violence, is a good reason to investigate further. The husband died a week before in the same room, we should be finding out if there are possible connections. While carbon monoxide poisoning is a possibility, all other options should be explored. The soup and bodies taken to mortuary for examination...hmmm soup taken to mortuary. Mind Blown!!! |
