Politics / Re: Presidency In Grand Plan To Abort New Order Of Elections by Dhugal: 7:51pm On Feb 14, 2018
Proudlyngwa:

You are the one twisting it , I quoted what the INEC said, that they believe they are they ones responsible for setting date not NASS which has been the premises of my argument.
INEC didn't say that, read the report again.
That was the hope of a presidency official, in the hope to tie the implementation of the law in law courts till elections have come and gone.
Again, setting dates of elections is different from ordering sequence of elections.
Setting dates is the sole prerogative of INEC.
Making laws ordering sequence of elections, timeframe of election petition and the like,is the sole prerogative of the National Assembly.
Stop having the two confused.
Politics / Re: Presidency In Grand Plan To Abort New Order Of Elections by Dhugal: 2:11pm On Feb 14, 2018
Proudlyngwa:

That is where you are getting it wrong
INEC is the empowered to make electoral sequence not NASS.

The commission, according to the source, would among others ask the court to determine who between it and the National Assembly has the power to determine the order of elections.
He said INEC genuinely believes that the responsibility for determining the order of election is its sole prerogative and not that of the National Assembly.

The INEC is the sole authority, constitutionally,to appoint dates for election, but they do not have the power to determine election sequence. That is the forte of the NASS,which they've rightly done.
Dates can only be appointed following a sequence, and that determined by the Electoral Act.
BTW,that wasn't what your post which I quoted was talking about.Don't try to wriggle out of it by throwing up shiny objects.

So did the NASS make and amend any act, or did they arrange a sequence.
The NASS is going beyond their jurisdiction by trying to do an executive work.
Only INEC has that responsibility, if they are not comfortable let them amend the electoral act not set sequences.
The NASS just amended the Electoral Act to capture election sequence.
This your post shows you didn't read nor comprehend the topic of discuss before jumping in to comment.

Lebanon is buying 6 Tucanos and they are paying exactly what we are paying for 12 Tucanos.

Do you know what's included in the package that we are getting and what's included in our Tucano package.?

1. It is very ignorant to generalize and make wild and inaccurate claims about what you know nothing about. These purchases and costs are made based on so many factors per your needs and requirements, nit just the base price.

2. The going price for Tucanos is $18 million, but it's easy to end up paying $50-80 million for each Tucanos after adding options like training package, bombs, avionics systems, sensors, radar systems, bombs, rockets and missiles, spare parts and so on.

3. People are not laughing at Nigeria, they are of course laughing at you and the ignorant people in this thread.
h
Did you even read the article you quoted or you're comprehension-challenged?.
Lebanon is getting 6 Super Tucanos,AS PART OF A DEAL,that include other weapons and systems.
The whole $462 million package a DONATION by the US govt.
Politics / Re: Nigeria Needs Electoral College System by Dhugal: 9:26pm On Jan 26, 2018
We already have a form of electoral college in our electoral system. To win presidential election in Nigeria, a candidate must not only win highest majority of votes, but must also win 25% of valid votes cast in 24 states and the FCT,to be declared winner.Otherwise, the election goes to a runoff between the winner and the candidate with the largest spread,I.e 25% in most number of states.
Same is applicable to gubernatorial elections too,viz a viz 25% in 2/3 of the local government areas constituting the state.
This is to ensure that populous states/LGs alone do not determine who wins election for an executive position under the constitution.

Politics / Nigeria And The Spirit Of Biafra - Emeka Maduewesi by Dhugal: 9:21pm On Jan 15, 2018
Nigeria and the spirit of Biafra
.
Last week, the Nigeria Army took delivery of five MFI-15 Safari trainer aircrafts from Pakistan. The MFI-15 were made by Saab of Sweden. If I tell you the story of MFI-15 aircraft you will either laugh or be in shock.
.
In May 1969, the Biafran Airforce engineers, with the help of a Swedish mercenary called Carl Gustaf von Rosen, converted Swedish built Malmő MFI-9 civilian trainer aircrafts into what they called MiniCOINS - Miniature Counter Insurgency. They were popularly called Biafran Babies, with capacity to carry significant loads of ordinance.
.
The converted airplanes were effective. They were uaed by the Biafran Airforce to strike Nigerian airfield at Port Harcourt, Enugu, Benin and even Lagos, destroying some number of Nigeriia's expensive MiG-17s and Ilyushin II-28s. The first MFI-15, developed from the Biafran design, had its first flight on the 26th of February, 1971.
The success of the Biafran Babes evoked the interest of the original manufacturers. That was how MFI-15, the aircraft that Nigeria imported from Pakistan last week, was born. The Swedish made CDK are assembled in Pakistan as the Mushshak.
.
The first picture is Carl von Rosen about to take off in the Biafran Baby. The second picture is one the MFI-15 Nigeria imported from Pakistan. The third picture shows the five MFI-9 of the Biafran Air Force at Uli, 1969, while the fourth picture is the five MFI-15 of the Nigerian Airforce 2018.
.
What Biafra made in 1969 under war conditions, Nigeria is importing from Pakistan in peace time, 2018.
.
Now you may laugh or be in shock.

If what you said is true and verifiable, then I rest my case.
But why will the bank want to fight back after he won them in the court?
Because this is Nigeria where anything goes.
Where you can do,undo and redo,so far as you have friends in high places.

The first judgement debt from a Federal High Court in Ibadan is valued at 2.4b.The Court of Appeal upheld that, and the Supreme court threw out GTB's appeal on grounds that the case was won suspiciously.
The second, but more important one was adjudicated on by FHC,Awka awarding Innoson 4.5b against GTB,with 22% interest per month. The Court of Appeal also upheld that.Case is now at the Supreme Court.
Cumulatively, GTB is owing Innoson about #10b now,and they want to come for the man thru the backdoor

Reactor Omokri, why not seek and get information on the issue before reacting. undecided

If Innoson owes a bank, he has to pay them back or atleast agree to pay back after all the bank is doing its own business. You can't hold one down while getting up yourself.

I have an uncle who got a huge loan from one of the defunct banks and never paid back. An area manager of that bank was fired and later died of heart attack in the process.

I don't mix business with sentiments.
Innoson is not owing the bank, rather the bank is owing him, after several court cases and two Appeal Court judgements upholding his claims against GTB.
They're now trying to fraudulently frame him for forgery of documents with which he took the loans in the first place.Loans he'd already repaid and been overdeducted, which gave rise to the cases in the first place.

There's something this girl and her supporters don't seem to understand, freedom of religion and religious expression also have the corollary of freedom from religion and religious expression. Nigeria is a constitutional secular state, and the judiciary being the guardian of that constitutionalism, should not only be neutral, but be seen as neutral at all times. That Lady Justice,is not only blind to status, circumstance of birth and whatnot, but is also very blind to religion or the lack of it.
Also note, constitutional provisions on rights are not absolute.Same Constitution approves of situations or circumstances where national or institutional laws, rules and regulations may regulate the application of those rights,as is this case,or even abridge/breach them temporarily for the good of the larger society.
If special provisions is now made for hijab,as Muslims and AB Mahmoud, are pushing, then consequential provisions would be made for the traditional religion practitioners, nuns, priests and monks too.
The end result would be the chaos which the current rules already prevent.

And you don't know that an election nullified by a court order remains nullified, unless overturned by a superior court.

The election has already been nullified by a standing superior court order as of now. The order is still in effect and very much alive.

This judgment of a lower court, which is still open to appeal is inconsequential to that nullification.
globemoney:

I think the election will go on as planned so no cause for alarm. The court of appeal is superior to FHC and the elction has been nullified
Pre-election court cases take precedence over post election matters, that's already settled law in Nigeria.
