Education / Re: UNILAG Student Rusticated For Twerking With The Statue Of Former VC by diddy11(m): 7:31am On Oct 09, 2017
The action of the management of UNILAG begs th following questions: 1) what section of/ regulation in the UNILAG students handbook did the student breach? 2) does the punishment fit the crime? . Seems the School Management has gone ahead to equate Morality for Law, it is true that an act may be morally wrong however, thiis does not mean it's a breach of the law.

Yes you can certainly travel with both passport as long as your visa is valid and you have a valid passport even if the valid passport does not carry the valid visa.

What you cannot do is travel on an expired passport with a valid visa
. Thanks for your response.

Hi guys, I need the gurus in house to help with a situation. I just renewed my Nigerian passport, but my expired/cancelled passport is currently carrying a valid uk visa. Now my question is this, can I travel with the valid visa by attaching my new passport to the expired/ cancelled passport which is carrying the valid visa? Looking forward to your speedy responses.

@frontpagelawyer further to your last mail. I Called paga customer care line to seek clarification on how to go about paying the general 2 years UK visa fee but the customer care agent informed me that their limit per transaction is 100k (this is considering that the payment for the visa is $509). When I asked him how I would make the payment once he seemed confused and didn't give me any concrete answer. How do I go about this issue. Thanks for your speedy response

I wouldn't know why you having this problem. Hope your account has online access?

If the problem persists, you can try PAGA.

@front page lawyer thanks so much for your response, just left my bank now only to find out that the reason why I couldn't make said payment was because of the 300 dollar limit per transaction per day imposed by can even though I had been to the bank and sought approval to have the dollar limit increased. Anyways I will take your hint and try paga....only in Nigeria do we make absurd policies to frustrate people.

@frontpagelawyer. Thanks so much for your response. I filled the online uk form as adviced albeit, when it came to paying online, my transaction was declined despite the fact that I went to my bank to seek approval to make online payment for said transaction. Can you please advice me on what to do as per payment. Thanks

Calling on justwise, vicjustice and all nairaland gurus. My six months visa to the uk expired last year December 2014 to be precise( I made a trip to the uk just once before the expiration of my visa). Now I intend to apply for a 2 years uk visa with the relevant supporting documents. However, I am confused on certain issues and need clarification from the house. 1. When I made my last application I did so with my wife who was given a 2 years visa because she ha been travelling before we got married. Now we have a baby and want to travel with her, my wife has a good paying job and will be paying for her ticket, while I intend to pay for I and my daughter. So for the portion of the online form which reads' what is the cost to you personally of your trip in GBP' I wish to state 7oo pounds ( this will money will be for shopping for myself, daughter and wife for our 7 days trip to the uk) is this figure quoted realistic for the ECO of the British Embassy. 2. Also, for the portion of the online form which reads' the cost of the Aeroplane, Boat or train ticket' like I said I will be paying for I and my daughter and the price quoted by one of the airlines for an adult and an infant is less than 2oo, ooo can I quote t in the form? 3. Who can please tell the dollar rate which the uk embassy is using at the moment as well the pound rate? Thanks for your prompt response.

Good day to all the in house gurus on the subject matter. I must say that after going through various write ups on delivery of kids in the states, I felt really confident that this was the right place to unburden my feelings on certain things that have got me worried on this issue, it is my sincere hope that at the end of this mail, the good people in-house would have proferred me with a solution. My wife and I decided to have our baby in the states, to this end, we got an appointment date with the us embassy, new as we are at applying for a us visa, we claimed that we were visiting the state and even made reservations with a hotel over there. Our thinking at the time was that since her pregnancy wasn't so visible we would go for the interview, get our visas and head off to the states when she is due to have the baby. However, my wife came home yesterday from the office and said that her colleague who had also put to bed in the states said we should have applied for a medical visa which would give us the right to give birth in the states. Her colleague also said that the visa officers seeing a couple applying for a visa would must definitely ask ; a. If she was pregnant, b. why didn't she ask for a medical visa ; c. Whether we were trying to conceal the fact that she was pregnant from the us embassy. Listening to all this questions got me so unsettled and that is why I am begging the gurus in-house to kindly give me answers to these questions: 1. In this situation, do we have to inform the us embassy that my wife is actually going to the states to give birth; 2. If the answer to question 1 is in the affirmative, how do we go about this; 3. Should we tender an online appointment with a doctor in the states. Answers on the issue will most gratefully be appreciated.

My brother works as an administrator in a tertiary institution and the conference he's going for has to do with tertiary administrators in the u.s, what would be your answer posed to how such a conference would impact on your career. Thanks ever so much for your prompt response.

I need the lawyers in the house 2 kindly advice me on this issue. A student at the tertiary institution where I work upon entry into the institution claimed that she was frm lagos state, now in her final year she wrote to inform the institution that following recent developments and disclosure from her parents she is from oyo state and would now want her documents to reflect same. Although I am quite aware that there exists a procedure for change of name, is there such a thing for change of state?

@ vicjustice, i must state that I have no reason to lie about any thing. I made the mistake of quoting 8ook as supposed to 1.2million. i quiet appreciate all your comments though and have decided not to use my uncle as a sponsor, however, I mentioned that I would be taking 7oopounds with me as spending money for a 7days trip(ie 6nites). Do you think the amount I quoted is reasonable. Thanks

Salsera thks a lot, really didn't think of it that way. So are you saying I should discard the idea of my uncle sponsoring me? Thankfully, my account is a whole lot stronger than last time and I have gotten a leta of introduction from the office. What do u tink are my chances if I apply using only my account?

Calling on justwise, vicjustice and the rest of the gurus in house. I applied for a tourist visa about this time last year and was denied cuz the ECO officer felt: a)I didn't have strong ties in nigeria. B)that my savings of 8ook wasn't enuf. C) sorry but the 3rd reason eludes me at the moment. (Although, I was given the option to appeal I decided not to). So now I am in the process of re-applying and I havve been able to get a leta of sponsorhip frm an uncle as well as his bank statement. Now my questions goes thus: 1) 2 d question that states' if someone is paying for you, how much will they give you?please state why they are paying for you? My ansa is:' 35o for airfare and hotel accomodation for 6nites, then because am his ward.' 2)under additional information asides from listing all the documents I would be submitting with my application what other thing can I say without sounding desperate for the visa. Callin on the Visa gurus in house to kindly come to my aid. Thanks guys

Travel / Uk Visa Refusal And Re-application by diddy11(m): 8:28am On May 01, 2012
Hello house. I seek the help of all those knowledgeable in this area for their advice: I applied for a visitors visa to the uk last year. I submitted all relevant documents such as: my payslip of about 115, ooo, letter of introduction from my employer, letter of appointment, my staff id card ,evidence of current payment to my professional body, nepa bill, evidence of hotel reservation and bank statement of about 1.2 million. However, I was refused on the following grounds: You state that you are an administrative officer and earn 115,ooo per month. I must take into account your personal and economic circumstance in Nigeria when coming to my decision. You have submitted no evidence of assets, savings or property in Nigeria. You have submitted no evidence of strong or financial ties in Nigeria. There4, I am not satisfied that you are seeking a genuine visit or that you intend to leave the UK at the end of your visit. 41(i) and (ii) . You have stated that in your visa application form that you will be financing yourself in the UK at a cost of 1500pounds. This is equivalent to 3months salary. You state you know no one in the UK. I am not satified that this amount is genuiely available for your trip or that you intend to spend this amount on a 6 day holiday. There4, I am not satified that you will be genuiely maintained in the UK or that yoy are able to meet the cost of the onward journey. 41(vi) and (vii). I have there4 refused your application because I am not satisfied on the balance of probabilities that you meet all of the requirements of the releveant Parargraph of the UK immigration Rules. Your right of appeal is limited to the grounds referred to in section 84(1)(c) of the nationality immigration and asylum act 2002 (www.legislation.gov.uk). I must say that after going through the ECO decision I was dumbfounded as I felt he was biased in coming to his conclusion, furthermore, I felt a bank statement of 1.2 million was evidence that I could support my trip to the uk, I have no intention to appeal, instead, I want to re-apply, what can I do right this time around? House I am at your mercy.
