AgricultureRe: Kebbi Surpasses One Million Tonnes Of Rice by Dimaya: 11:47pm On Nov 10, 2016
The rice farming is not done by individuals but mechanical. The harvesting is also mechanical. The bagging is also mechanical.

And yes Kebbi state's harvest can feed 20% of Nigerians. By 2018, their rice yield will feed the whole Nigeria.

Please remember the rice project is actually a joint venture between Kebbi State and Lagos State.

If Dangote can bag over 100million cement bags in a year, why can't the whole kebbo state bag 20million in a year. That is at the rate of 1000 bags daily at 60 bagging facilities

@op

Why buy when renting is cheaper?

Look at this as an investment decision. You are already getting the freebies of marriage: sex. So why commit when you obviously know that in your absence, she will sleep with someone else?

If you do go ahead, there's always the fear that she can hookup with a stranger just for greater sex. Think about it.

CareerRe: Diamond Bank Sacking Staff This Morning by Dimaya: 1:27pm On May 28, 2016
You are the ones who cook the food, so why complain about the quality. If you don't like the pay, leave the job and start farming. But don't come here and badmouth a company that feeds you.

Do you think it is easy to run a business in Nigeria. Things are getting tough and yet you still get wages. I have friends who work in ekiti and have not been paid for 6months

charger025:
Ministry of Labour should look into this issue:

Recently, Genesis Group Nigeria, the company that owns the Genesis Restaurant and Deluxe Cinemas chain cut workers’ salaries by various percentages, with some workers even getting a 50% pay cut and some getting sacked for no reason but “the situation of the economy”.

Yes, we all know the economy is bad but as insiders, we know how much the company makes monthly and how much of our blood and sweat is put into making those billions for them.

Sometimes we are slaved tirelessly, even till late hours without getting paid overtime (company policy) all in the name of meeting “a quota”. Note: The economy doesn’t affect the company, they increased prices of their food et al to match the situation, yet they’re cutting salaries. Even if they didn’t increase prices, they would still be making profits of over 70% on most items.

Drivers and Kitchen Staff that previously earned a meagre N30,000 now earn between N15000 – N20000 and most of them can barely afford to feed their families, not to even talk about fees, rent and other bills.

A widow who works as a staff here said one of her 2 children has to stay at home next term because she can’t afford his school fees and she’s hardly employable anywhere else. The rate at which people are being laid off is unfair & inhumane not to talk about the way staff are treated.

I’ve worked in this company for years and each day I pray to God that I find a better job at a company that values its workers. Honestly, over 95% of staff here are only here because they haven’t gotten anything better and would gladly leave at the slightest opportunity.

The company owns several restaurants but can’t feed its workers properly, the food we are given is what prisoners would reject, most times its half-cooked, excessively salty, no maggi and the worst of all, no meat and they can’t even provide water for us to drink.

I am pained, I am angry, how do I explain to my children that they can no longer have 3 square meals because “my oga at the top” is a heartless and inconsiderate man who only cares about how much he makes while neglecting the large number of families he’s destroying.

If you go to any Genesis Fast food, you’d never know of our plight because the staff are forced to put on fake smiles and pretend to customers, while suffering inside. There’s no point for people to patronize Genesis anymore when despite all the money you spend, it’s all going to the pocket of one person while we the “money generators” are treated like slaves.

We have nobody to fight for us. Anybody that opposes, gets fired instantly and their terminal benefits forfeited. We know that even if the economy gets better tomorrow, our salaries will not be restored because we work for greedy sets of human beings.

We live in a country where employers get away with all sorts of things because the system doesn’t work. A company where your boss can walk in and slap you for no reason or maybe because someone annoyed him at home, is that one company?

To all of you bringing your CVs, we here are struggling to leave. God help us all. Shalom.

I am so shocked that people are so quick to believe this girls story without proof.

She is a prostitute just trying to drum up attention so that clients will notice her and try to contact her

Last year, she accused oritsefemi of stealing her phone.

NYSCRe: Ebonyi State Slashes Monthly Allowance Of Corper Doctors From N130k To N15k by Dimaya: 8:12am On Nov 11, 2015
rhymz:
Which General Hospital in cross River were you in charge of, I am very curious not that I doubt you but it is very interesting to know that a corper doctor can head a whole general Hospital and be allowed to perform CS operation on pregnant women, it is either there is no standard and ethics in the way medicine is practised in Nigeria or someone is telling a terrible lie here.
Then you have no idea how bad rural Medicine is in nigeria. I didnt ask to be in charge of a general hospital. But when i got to general hospital ugep town, cross river, and found out that the only medical officer had resigned over unpaid wages for an ngo job with stable income, what would you expect me to do.?

When a pregnant woman with breech presentation in obstructed labour shows up at 3am in a village 3hours away from calabar and there's no ambulance to transport to a tertiary hospital, you have to do something. Rather than let her die, you sef go ope rate oh. Yes, i also managed all the wards and out Patient clinics during youth service. I saw almost 100patients daily and i was woken up most nights to attend to emergencies. And guess what, the state took my sweat, wages and didnt pay. For 5months, nothing. My family couldnt believe. I still cant. 15k for 5months and nothing. Someone ate it, and nothing happened. Whereas, if i had stayed back in my previous job before service, i would have had 750k for those 5months.

So, the pain you hear on this Forum is from the heart of medical workers who feel cheated because most people take advantage of the humanitarian nature of their work to deprive them of pay.

What i realise is this, most people would condemn a doctor who just wants his wages Whereas they would do far worse if they were the ones in the same shoes not getting paid.
NYSCRe: Ebonyi State Slashes Monthly Allowance Of Corper Doctors From N130k To N15k by Dimaya: 7:50am On Nov 11, 2015
Bros, you need to understand something about human behaviour . Just be cause your circumstances are different doesnt mean you should not try to understand.

Money matters. Basic economics dictates that if you pay peanuts, you should expect monkeys . Most doctors are already working and shouldering responsibilities before nysc year. After my house job, i worked a year on 150k per month. It was a 9 to 5 job. I was paying school fees and giving allowances to younger ones. When nysc came, i lost a years income (about 1.8million) just because i was serving. To make matters worse , for 5months, no wages and i was working from7am to 3 midnight on several cases for 15k . Under those circumstances, you can not expect anybody to be excited about service. If you had to give up a midpaying job to earn nothing, then you would probably understand. Only corpers earning that much before service would understand the frustrations of slashed salaries.

So bros, were you working before youth service?
rhymz:
So what will corpers that are not in the medical field do or say? I served in sokoto myself, besides the federal government stipend from NYSC I didn't get a dime anywhere but I survived even though I was far away in sokoto. NYSC is a service not an employment, many of you complaining always forget that fact.....wait until you get a job then you can talk about remuneration, that's my point... You can't be serving and expecting that you must earn like a gainfully employed Doctor, them no hire you and are not in any position to negotiate salary with you except for the one they can afford to pay you. Ebonyi state government obviously does not have the finance to pay you that much and you have two options either take it as part of service or you redeploy to states that can pay you that much....
NYSCRe: Ebonyi State Slashes Monthly Allowance Of Corper Doctors From N130k To N15k by Dimaya: 7:29am On Nov 11, 2015
Bros, i was in charge of a general hospital. Even the indigenes of the town knew that. Out of 27 doctors who were posted to cross river state, only 4 of us stayed and we were owed 5months wages. For almost 3months during service year , i was the only doctor in the hospital, attend ing to almost 100villagers monthly and i was doing caesaerian sections successfully. Unlike most other corpers, we already had jobs. I had a job in a private hospital paying me 150k before going to serve.
rhymz:
Are you serious? Corper Doctors in charge of hospitals? Abeg can you please name the hospital? The one in NYSC camp I guess. And yes, don't kid yourself, they work under serious supervision, that you interned for a year does not give you the experience to manage people's lives unsupervised? I don't know the kind of doctors you are referring to but when I go to Hospitals, I am very particular about the kind of doctors that treat me, I will be the last person to let an interning doctor handle my case unless it is just to diagnose and maybe offer drugs, for serious cases I won't dare, that's how much experience that I see in them.
NYSCRe: Ebonyi State Slashes Monthly Allowance Of Corper Doctors From N130k To N15k by Dimaya: 11:36pm On Nov 10, 2015
People need to understand Simple economics

A doctor has more options than several other professions. :

I served in cross river state and was paid 15 per month. By the end of service year, i had depleted my savings and cross river state owed me 5months salary. If they pay, it will be tomorrow. My professions exams for that year cost me 100k. So, i spent all my nysc money to pay for professional exams. For one year, i was broke, despite knowing that a single cs i did in lagos would pay all i earlier during one year of service.

My parents advised me to reported. My fiancee almost broke up with me be cause of the low income and i was constantly told to use the economic options i had.

I feel we are not being rational here. If your brother had to choose between an offer of performing a surgery in lagos and earning 100k at once, and serving in ebonyi for 11months and not earning up to that in the entire 11months, what would you advice?

To all the medical doctors in the house, i have just one piece of advice to offer :

Never ever argue with idiots (especially online). They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

sir,
you should also include the problems of security, burglary and non protection against fire outbreaks. Very few Nigerians have insurance cover and for businesses, its just worse. So if there is a hazard, they can't get back on track.

I follow your blog day to day sir. Its awesome. Anyone who wants to get ahead in Nigeria should read your blog.

Dear friend,
think about these stats: 247,509 members, 146,474 topics as at 12:06 pm wed 8 oct 2008. Now hold that thought and imagine this growth:
25 million members across the African continent and all posts possible in all langauages, that is the nairaland we see. From start up to getting more members is an extremely lenghthy process and our clients will not saddle themseves with that unnecesary difficulty. The startegic way of business growth is buying out key components: a production facility here, a marketing company there, a magazine publication her and the likes, in the case of nairaland, what we are buying is a the audience and the track record, especially since our most likely projections of online nigeria community is due to hit a critical mass of 10 million nigerians by 31st december 2009. If this explanations do not convince you , then nothing will. Nairaland fits into our clients core business since they are buying an audience, NOT the forum. The forum exists as just the meeting point. DMA

In the intellectual propery market, trust does not exist. What exists is offer and acceptance and the ability to enforce contracts with the right parties involved. An offer will be made to purchase this forum and also to overhaul it. Our clients have the media resources to promote this forum with outdoor and out of home advertising which means they literarily can give a face to this forum outside the internet. For any individual to label their offer in improper terms shows an inadequate understanding of the nature and potential of what this forum can become under a new visioneer. The new nairaland will exist, this post appears as a matter of formality. Thanks DMA

hello fellow nairalanders,
One of our firm's clients wants to buy Nairaland and we need information to make the management buyout possible. The entire nairaland forum fits into their existing business . If you are in charge of making the management decisions about possible sales and acquisitions, we need you to write our firm in utmost secrecy at dma_recruiting@yahoo.com. please do not send enquiries if you are not in charge of such decisions. A bid would be put together and forwarded to the management personnel in charge of such decisions and it would be seen as a contravention of federal laws if you make an offer for sale especially if you do not possess the legal powers to make an acceptance of our clients prospective offer. Fraudulent responses and acceptance would be tracked, monitored and litgation could ensue. It is dangerous to respond to this offer without the proper legal and constitutional powers to back up such an acceptance. Please be warned.
