Baba40 erred by not bringing up the issue within warranty period.

Except if he did, but could not access to gazzuzz workshop due to other engagement.(from the story I can't say if he did)

I don't know if there were other informal discussion between gazzuzz and this client that made the issue to degenerate like this (to the point of coming to nairaland to start this brohaha) but the other guy who never came out that had similar complaint made me had a rethink

There must be a reason why gazzuzz usually insist on taking back engines and do a refund. I don't know and I'm not an auto mech but I think diagnosing the cause of the oil burn might be a better option unless his knowledge states that it is a severe problem.

But then, there is a reason.

I think gazzuzz is straight , I just have some problem with attitude if I am to be honest.

Matters like this are better handled offline and when the issue is still at infantry stage.

Well someone has already suggested his gets a customer relations personnel.
This might help greatly but there still have to be some form of empathy from gazzuzz to the customer for this to work else the personnel so hired will be between the devil and deep blue sea.

Radautoworks has no hand in this matter whatsoever as insinuated by some.

Lastly, I see some particular "set of folks" always coming to gazzuzz side no matter the customer complaint. It's not bad but the manner you guys do it , you always try to make the customer feel stupid with memes and side stuff.
I understand a customer may not be that learned in such area but I think what you guys should do is to try and mediate and appeal to both the customer and gazzuzz.

In all, I plead with gazzuzz to help resolve this matter offline.

Sir, no matter how you look at it I and every other average customer , if we were to purchase a tikunbo engine will feel bad if it starts shorting out within just 4 months. It's just natural. Our manner of approach for resolution might be different.
A lot will depend on how much we have left after expending such huge amount.
In this case baba40 may be dried of cash hence this outburst

to understand my point you need to check all post i did you will understand why that ended up coming, Gazzuzz couldnt mention the work he did on the engine to offer the warrant, which roughly means he had faith on the engine like all used imported engines he sold before.

May i ask what test do you do on an engine thats is sitting out from car body to verifty its perfect and it will run fine once installed into the car ? Those engines dont even get run tested for 5mins

unfortunately for this one based on the customer it gave an issue soon after the warranty expired, so i was saying its too risky to give a warranty on an engine that you have no history with and 90 percent of are high mileage to me its way too risky to offer and warrant. But it has worked for Gazzuzz for many times

the truth here is the that these two might have more infor to share but they dont want to because i might discredit both of them

The option can look good to us but not to the buyer, because we dont know what was agreed on the transaction, there are reasons which make sense to the buyer to refuse the offer, those reason should make sense to us but himself because it was his money

Am not saying the customer is right but for Gazzuzz set himself up by gauranting a engine from a abroad which you have no history with, yes it has worked for him all this time but this transaction has shown him the otherside.

Most engines that are sent to Africa are high mileage due to mainly two reason

1 by age of the car eg a 2006 car is 16 years old on average that car should have 182000miles

So these engines are cheap to buy from scrap yards due to high mileage

Most engines from low mileage accident engines are not cheap there are almost as the same price as reconditioned engine

So what were you going on and on about the bolded part of your statements. Why is it that most Nigerians go about with very bad behavior and try to cover it up with these "customer is king" bullshit. If you went insultive and rude on a biz owner, you expect him to swallow up all your nonsense after all "customer is king".

Even here, over 95% of the criticisms leveled against GAZZUZZ is about his perceived personal character and not about his incompetence or dishonesty or fraudulent acts. That' said, being that the guy has never pretended to be a model character when it comes to your standard of good morals and behavior, why do you guys keep forcing your beliefs on him.

The guy is arrogant, fine, when next you're looking to appoint a pastor or moral leader, ignore him, but when it comes to his profession which is what he markets himself on, is he competent?

NB : Before you go on with the "customer is king" stuff, have you asked yourself if you fall into the category of what a biz owner will refer to as "customer". Not everyone who comes to your shop is a customer. If a biz owner says he wants to 'de-customer' you, then why not go and return his goods, collect your money and walk? Is it by force to be his customer?

This same issue played out with me and gazzuzz. Same july. Bought a tokunbor corolla engine and it was already shorting oil in 3 days. I complained to him and he gave me same ultimatum of removing the engine within 24hrs. I was like calm down it hasn’t gotten to that, is there nothing else that can be done and he was like no and that if I take the car out of his garage with the faulty engine, I should never bother him about it anymore.

I spent over 300k to get an engine replacement because you’re supposedly a pro and all I get is this kind of treatment? No courtesy, no customer service, no empathy. You stress me, you stress my car, stress my bank balance and you’re still being proud about it? You think it is easy to fork out over 300k on a car in this perilous times. Hell no, I told him to replace my old engine.

I knew about his arrogance and pride but still opted to work with him because I thought I was dealing with a professional.

He made me lose valuable time and also some money. I really hated my experience with him. With baba40’s experience, I’ve concluded that it’s either he doesn’t know what he’s doing or he’s doing it on purpose. I mean you can’t repeatedly collect faulty engines from your suppliers after claiming to having all these years experience.

1. I entered into a contract to replace the engine, fluids and radiator for Baba40

2. The vehicle was recently purchased by baba40 prior to meeting me and was massively abused.

3. A Foreign used engine was procured and installed with a 3month warranty or 3000km which ever comes first.

4. I did not receive any complaints from Baba40 until after the expirations of his warranty.

5. The procured engine in the market where it was sourced comes with a 1 week warranty and not a money back guarantee. (They will fix and not replace in the event of failure).

6. As a responsible entity we stick our necks out for our clients because we stand by what we sell.
We give long warranties so in the case of failure the client is covered.

7. I was contacted on the 4th month and after over 3,340km that engine installed on baba40's vehicle suffered oil burn.

8. As a responsible entity I offered him a window of full refund for expense made on engine procurement and installation . The window was 24hrs.

9. Baba40 Did not respond to my offer, but rather insulted me further.

10. 3weeks after the offer elapsed he opened the thread above.




I have sold and installed hundreds of engines to nairalanders on this platform. Over 99per of the time it turns out well without issues. There are times it does not. This is possibly one of those cases.

In the past i have fully refunded aggrived clients for all funds expended as written in the invoice (fluids, labour , logistics, and parts) and also installed their old parts back, I can call out 2 nairalanders that have received this gesture this year. Business is not all about money but about having a good name and brand.

I will never visit a workshop that fixed a Tokunbo engine that only lasted 3 months. You knew that engine had a bad piston. You fixed the piston knowing it would only last a few months before it spoils again.

If you reported to LG after few months that the TV is bad and LG agreed to a refund and you have evidence, and for some reason you weren't able to come within the the warranty period, for the mere fact that LG has certified your claims and has agreed evidence for a refund means you are still entitled to it.
