What on earth is the meaning of these stupid carnivals?... We have our own culture, we have traditional masquerade festivals with different kinds of 'mmonwu' but we've thrown our culture away under the guise of religion, and now we think the most fashionable thing to do is to import carribbean culture.

Inferiority complex at its peak!
Rocha must have enjoyed Brazilian carnival.

Owerri is choking from congestion due to overpopulation. Daily sea of heads on the streets and traffic congestion.

But other Imo towns are all empty. Because Rocha refused to provide social amenities outside the state capital. He would rather duplicate or triplicate and oftentimes quadruple the same amenity in the state capital.

Worse, there's nobody who can tell Rocha that the only method to decongest the state capital is by modernizing some other towns in his state.

Owerri Carnival imported by Rocha. Young girls and boys bussed in from Imo interior to come to witness Rochas "wonder-developments" in the state capital.
Imo state outside Owerri has been dormant and abandoned by Rocha government since the governor joined the APC.

Here is a counter to the claim that Buhari met an "empty treasury." Let's read the rebuttal of the Buhari apologists:

"Buhari was handed over:
– $30 billion in our Foreign Reserves,
– $2.5 billion Sovereign Wealth Fund,
– $1.4 billion in the ECA,
– $4.65 billion back taxes from NLNG.
– Buhari met an approved budget of N4.5trillion

Buhari received within a year:
– $2.7 billion collected by Inland Revenue in his first 8 months.
– $2.1 billion world bank loan.
– $850 million Grants from UK, USA and Europe.
– 1.5 trillion saved from fuel subsidy removal
– Excluding crude oil sales, Joint Venture profits, Royalties, Income from Customs, NIMMSA, NPA, NACHO ……
– 3 trilion on STA
not to include the “recovered” looted funds.

More than a year has passed:
1] Not a kilometer of road constructed,
2] Not a watt of Electricity generated,
3] Not a ward added to any Hospital in Nigeria.
4] Not a job space created, except the CBN job he shared with his cronies.
5] Not a grain of corn or tomato seed was provided to farmers. [Fertilizer subsidy taken away and handed back to ex-military men] 6] 41 foreign companies mostly in service industry have left Nigeria
7] 4.3 Million jobs lost in 10 months – National Bureau of Statistics.
8] Food scarcity last experienced in Nigeria between 1983 to 1985 returned.
9] War on Corruption turned into war against his perceived enemies. Convictions by EFCC were cases meticulously started by previous govt(s). Buhari wins cases only on the pages of Newspapers.
10] Nigeria dropped from No.1 Investment destination in Africa to No.27 before South Sudan.
11] Africa's Biggest economy shrank from a GDP of about 7% to -0.36%, the fastest decline in the world since record began.
12] No.3 fastest growing economy in the world to No.83 in 365 days.

And I wonder why the president keeps giving the impression that the country is broke. The problem is not lack of funds, but lack of qualified individuals in the government."

By Umeh Ik Emmanuel
President Buhari had more than that on assumption office.
Issue is with Nigerians. Nigerians knew that Buhari has never piloted any business to profit level, never employed any labour in his business, despite the huge sums of money he had earned all his life from Nigeria right from his early youth when he joined the army.

See women suffering to safeguard the future of their children. But some clueless men sell out for their immediate economic gains.

For how much longer do these south southerners think they can resist these intimidations; intimidations that arise from Arewa plot to take total control of Nigeria with crude oil proceeds in the south?

Who can correct the mistakes of 1967 when some leaders from the southsouth travelled to Kaduna and begged then northern region governor, Hassan Katsina, to plead with Gowon to cut off the non Igbos of the old eastern region from Biafra?

Mistake in the sense that naturally, your closest neighbours are supposed to be your good friends, if not, you live in a miserable neighbourhood.

Immediately after the journey of the "wise??"" SS leaders to Kaduna, Gowon created Rivers and Cross River States. That scuttled Biafra. If Biafra had succeeded, development in today's Nigerdelta could have approached Dubai's development level since 1967.
These women would have been sitting in their cars listening to good music without even bothering to care who Wike or Rotimi are.

In fact, there's a lot of "cluelessness" in the south of Nigeria.

Nigeria's political structure was rigged to such that Arewa has near-absolute majority in the country's political process to direct who ever is president and what can happen in Nigeria.

Otuoke couldn't even get common running water from Jonathan's presidency. But the $1.09 standard gauge railway lines were built in the north during Jonathan's presidency.

Obasanjo as president couldn't even asphalt the road to his Ota in Ogun state. He seized Lagos state local government allocations during most of his tenure, perhaps in a bid to satisfy northern kingmakers that he was still loyal.

In Nigeria of rigged political structure that has twenty federal units in the north, resource control can't be incorporated into the constitution, as 19 northern Houses of Assembly and most Southwest Houses of Assembly can't accept to pass such amendments to the constitution.

Seriously, this is madness. It is unfortunate that we've allowed religion to take over our sense of reasoning. Issues that requires logical approach now requires spiritual interpretation. How do you motivate populace to dream, to set goals, plan, persevere when all we do is tell them to pray their way out of everything. While I am not against any religion, nor I'm I against praying. But, I believe common sense should prevail when we are crafting our laws; what kind of society we envisioned, the attitude of people towards their dreams and critical path required in the attainment of this dream. Do we want to create innovative, entrepreneurial, futuristic society or do we want to create a stagnating society where people are easily manipulated to just follow orders. The choice is ours to make. Our future will be shaped based on the policy structure, systems, culture we put in place today.

I encourage everyone to read "Start up nation, The story of Israel Economic Miracle" by Dan Senor. The story about how the culture of excellence, meritocracy, entrepreneurial spirits transformed Israel from a struggling nation to a first world country. How they became the top innovative country in the world.
Loooool, you are preaching to people whose soul, mind and body are occupied by crude oil from the Nigerdelta.

All the religious extremism in Nigeria are politically motivated. The end game is one religion of northern Nigeria dominating to take over government processes with control of proceeds from crude oil in the Nigerdelta.

Is Nigeria the only country in Sub-Saharan Africa that has large number of Muslims?

The frenzy to include Sharia Criminal codes in Nigeria's constitution is behind all these new preoccupation with religious laws in the National Assembly.

National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has denied that he’s planning to leave the party. The APC leader made the denial on Monday, December 5, via Twitter.
“In our Journey to national betterment, plans and policies will be made, then amended. Mistakes will occur and then corrected... Achievements will be had & replicated. Through it all, I, Asiwaju will remain true to the progressive ideals that fueled the creation of APC,” he wrote.

“I have devoted my political life to achieve what has been achieved. My heart is too much of the people and my mind too fixed on establishing a positive historic legacy... rather than engage in destructive pettiness.
“This government, APC, is for the betterment of the people & the national purpose is bigger and more important than any individual's desires.

“This is a party I labored with others to build. We would not abandon it for another. Millions of Nigerians who voted are watching and praying,” he added.

Rumour has it that Tinubu is planning to leave the APC to start another party because he is supposedly being ill-treated in the APC.

The supposed ill-treatment has caused Governor Ayo Fayose and Femi Fani-Kayode, who are members of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to speak up and criticize Tinubu’s protégés for betraying him.

Buyeradvertcom:
Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka has threatened to exit Nigeria as a response to the media harassment to which Nigerians have subjected him.

Speaking to reporters today at a media event held at Freedom Park on Lagos Island, Mr. Soyinka, winner of the 1986 Nobel Prize for literature, said he was embarrassed to share a country with some "imbeciles and morons."

He said, "I should not be exiting the United States but Nigeria because the people on behalf of whom one has struggled all one’s life can be so slavish in mentality as to start querying the right of their champion to free speech."

He continued, "I am embarrassed to occupy the same space as some imbeciles and morons," adding that the exit from Nigeria can be "internal" or "external".

Mr. Soyinka, a retired professor from Obafemi Awolowo University and numerous universities in the U.K. and US, also threatened to move the residency of his foundation, the Wole Soyinka Foundation, out of Nigeria and dared anybody to criticize his decision.

"If the board agrees," he said, "I will move the residency of my foundation out of the country," he said.

He added that on the inauguration of the US president-elect, Donald Trump, he would hold a private funeral wake to mourn the death of common sense in Nigeria.

The Nobel laureate expressed irritation at many Nigerians who had taken to the social media to criticize his comment to leave the United States of America and tear his green card after Mr. Trump was declared winner in the November 8, 2016 presidential election in the US.

He said, "We worked to make sure the least important person in our society enjoys freedom of expression. When I decide to take this same action [use his freedom of speech], I don’t want people whom we have fought for to enjoy freedom of expression to start all kinds of vulgar and stupid commentaries.

"Barbarians have taken over this community using the anonymity, most of the time, of the Internet to sit somewhere and start writing rubbish, questioning the right of people like me to express ourselves."

Mr. Soyinka said Nigerians have no right to question his decision to leave the US.

"What is the business of any stupid Nigerian to open his or her mouth to challenge my right? Did you get the green card for me? The arrogance of some Nigerians is overwhelming, and I don’t interfere, so how dare you interfere with me?" he said.

He asked, “Why do Nigerians wail louder than the bereaved?”

Mr. Soyinka said he never wanted the American green card, but was given one by former President Jimmy Carter, the 39th president of the United States, which caused him to christen the document "Jimmy Carter's card."

He said, "I call my green card Jimmy Carter’s card because he got it for me and, as a matter of fact, I did not ask for it."
