But I am not crying for joy like this Attah. No be today we begin see Aboiki leaders promising to do good in the Nigerdelta. If this one is for real, let him institutionalize true and fiscal federalism in Nigeria.
Jonathan was very fearful of Abokiii, that's why Jonathan did not dare return to fiscal federalism. Jonathan loves life life like...

Jonathan grew up during the era Abokii ruled by military force, so he was groomed to fear Abokiii.

Take away tribalism and a bit of corruption, there are lots of Nigerian politicians/administrators who would do the job and do it well.

Nigerian police force is rubbish at home but they always win accolades when they go on international peace corps. Okonjo iweala was a success at the world bank but messed up at home. Arumma Oteh was disgraced out of office but she would surely do well at the world stage. I can go on and on.

Their problem is not knowing what to do but the Nigerian political environment is a different ball game. These guys would perform at the world stage. I would bet my money on Mr Kalu to do well if he ever get there and I mean and believe everything I wrote here.

Being a governor in Nigeria is much more difficult than that FIFA presidency office.
You can't take away tribalism from Nigeria. Tribalism has nearly killed Nigeria. What is keeping Nigeria still breathing is crude oil from the Niger delta area.

Tribalism in Nigeria is worse than Apartheid in South Africa. Imagine some sections of South Africa kick against hosting of the World Cup in Africa for the first time.

Kano state government under Kwankwaso routinely sent police to confiscate alcohol products in Kano and burn them in public with fanfare. Month end, Kano state government officials will come to Abuja to collect federal allocations partly earned from VAT from sales of alcohol products.

Through too many local government councils proliferated in Kano state, the state collects hugest sums of money from local government allocations.

akinzeb:
In keeping with his avowed commitment to working for the development and well-being of all Nigerians, President Muhammadu Buhari Wednesday in Abuja approved several actions to fast-track the long delayed implementation of the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) Report on the environmental restoration of Ogoniland.

The actions approved by President Buhari, based on recommendations to him by the Executive Director of UNEP, the UNEP Special Representative for Ogoniland, Permanent Secretaries of the Federal Ministries of Environment and Petroleum Resources, and other stakeholders, include the amendment of the Official Gazette establishing the Hydrocarbon Pollution Restoration Project (HYPREP) to reflect a new governance framework comprising a Governing Council, a Board of Trustees and Project Management.

The President further approved that the HYPREP Governing Council should be composed as follows:

Ministry of Petroleum Resources – One Representative
Federal Ministry of Environment – One Representative
Impacted States (Rivers) – One Representative
Oil Companies & NNPC – 4 Representatives
Ogoniland – 2 Representatives
United Nations System – One Representative
Secretariat – Headed by Project Manager

He also approved the composition of a Board of Trustees for the HYPREP Trust Fund as follows:

Federal Government – One Representative
NNPC – One Representative
International Oil Companies – One Representative
Ogoniland – One Representative
United Nations System – One Representative

Following a meeting held on the directive of President Buhari, it was also agreed that a contribution deposit of 10 million United States dollars will be made by stakeholders within 30 days of the appointment of members of the Board of Trustees for the Trust Fund who will be responsible for collecting and managing funds from contributors and donors.

A new implementation template has also been evolved at the instance of President Buhari, and the environmental clean-up of Ogoniland will commence in earnest with the President’s inauguration of the HYPREP Governing Council and the Board of Trustees for the Trust Fund.

Buhari was a key decision maker in Abacha regime.
Buhari cannot deny that he did not give Abacha a tacit approval for the hanging of Ken Saro Wiwa and the other Ogoni 8.

Lol. Only a few Nigerdeltans can be moved by this story of Ogoni clean-up. About 65% of proceeds from oil and gas goes to north of Nigeria through allocations to states and local government councils. The number of local government councils proliferated in only three northern states may be coming close to the number of local government councils in the whole of nine or ten states in NIGERDELTA region.

Ogoni land and rest of NIGERDELTA areas are supposed to look like Dubai of today after decades of billions of dollars crude oil and gas extraction from the area.

Instead, we see too many more modern cities emerged in the north of Nigeria deriving from the myriad number of states and local government councils proliferated in the north by northern soldiers to suck back oil revenues to north.
No federal country in the world had its federating units (states, provinces, regions)) derived using land mass as criterion - as it is in Nigeria.

Clean-up is good but not enough. Return fiscal federalism to Nigeria is the answer.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Just in from NLNG:
Go to the link to read the PUBLIC STATEMENT ON DRY DOCK: NLNG NOT OWNER OF DRY DOCK
http://www.nigerialng.com/Media-Center/Pages/Press-Release.aspx

PUBLIC STATEMENT
Nigeria LNG is not owner of Dry Dock

The attention of Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) has been drawn to recent media reports on the proposed Badagry Dry Dock Project which purport that Nigeria LNG is the owner of the project.

This is not true as Nigeria LNG is NOT the owner and is not investing in the building of any dry dock.

Nigeria LNG has a singular business focus, namely processing and exporting LNG. It has no interest in investing in a dry dock anywhere in the world.

The owner of the proposed dry dock in Badagry is a consortium of other Nigerian companies under the name of Badagry Ship Repair and Maritime Engineering Company (BSMEC) and which NLNG is NOT a part of.

NLNG’s only interest was and still remains, encouraging investors to consider building dry docks in the country to save the nation’s foreign exchange and save local ship owners, like ourselves, the trouble of having to go overseas for dry dock services.

Nigeria LNG would thus be pleased to see more dry dock projects emerge in different parts of the country, but will not be investing in any. It is thus fair to add that not being an investor in dry dock, NLNG cannot dictate to investors where to site their projects.

Nigeria LNG therefore appeals to those who are issuing threats based on wrong information, to review their position in the light of this clarification. Besides, threats can only discourage other investors from coming to the region.

Please be assured that NLNG remains a good and valuable corporate citizen helping to build a better Nigeria.

Thank you for your kind attention.

Signed
Dr Kudo Eresia-Eke
General Manager (External Relations),
For NLNG.

END.
This belated rebuttal serves little or no use.

Does that explain why the most profitable oil and gas sector investments in Nigeria are not in the NIGERDELTA area, not headquartered in the NIGERDELTA area where oil and gas are found?

That is one of the things that happens when a government is very flexible in negociating with terrorists. I'm sure there must hav been deliberations as to the best possible site before choosing Lagos. They should go ahead. Those guys are too bent on holding Nigeria to ransom so I think such sensitive projects are better off in the most secured part of the country-the south west. That makes Lag a perfect candidate
And when you build in Lagos with proceeds from oil from the east, you call non-Yoruba in Lagos guests. Sometimes you threaten non-Yoruba in Lagos with pushing them into the Lagos lagoon to drown. You say it is Yoruba culture .

Only people with a most backward culture can call citizens of the same country guests in any city or area of the same country. Unimaginable an American or British regarding any American or British citizen as guest in any city or area of USA or Britain.

For how many more decades would you want Nigerdelta to seek for alliances and negotiate for more from oil and gas in NIGERDELTA? NIGERDELTA has allied with north for years before now, voted for northern presidential candidates before Jonathan. Did the north presidents and Heads of State change Niger delta for better?

Obasanjo wanted Third Term and selected and assembled soutthern politicians headed by Anenih in Enugu. At the end of their meeting, their communique was that Nigeria remained underdeveloped because it had been led for decades by people who came from outside of areas where oil that sustained Nigeria came from.
But Obasanjo piloted APC/Buhari against Jonathan.

If Senate wants Naira value fixed against other currencies, it has to ask PMB to order for that. After all, Buhari has already started to fix Naira/Dollar value for Muslim pilgrims.

Nigeria has since starved the chicken that lays the golden egg in order to feed the barren chicken.

You spoke like a Yoruba. Yoruba make economic gains from oil and gas more than the old southeast region where oil and gas are mostly found.

Difident Yoruba now employ all sorts of threats and blackmail to keep one Nigeria, a country where the chicken that lays the golden egg is starved to feed the barren chicken.

When ever people talk about new Biafra, Yoruba is the first in line to insult the people talking about Biafra. Because Yoruba believe that if Biafra goes, other south south groups may either form new country or countries or even join Biafra.

In any discourse about Biafra, Yoruba must be the first to comment that Biafra is landlocked, that Biafra must not contain the south south, Yoruba can even tell that others in the south south love Fulani more than the Igbo. All in divide-and-rule efforts.

Islam now reigns in Nigeria. Christianity is being nearly wiped out in the northernmost parts of Nigeria. Gradually, the Jihadists must move southward.
Politicians from the south who do not practice Islam yet are waiting to be converted by force, since they appear to have sworn allegiance to one Nigeria before northern politicians, instead of detaching their people and territories from Nigeria earlier.
Politics › Re: Buhari Wants Islamic Books Included In Federal Schools' Curriculum by discusant: 6:09pm On Aug 03, 2015
From the same Kaduna in 2001, Buhari preached that sharia criminal justice system must be implemented in all of Nigeria.

Politicians from the south of Nigeria are only waiting for the day all of Nigeria shall be proclaimed an Islamic Republic of Nigeria, and every body in Nigeria being forced to convert to Islam or... by then it shall be too late.

Split Nigeria now and let the twelve northern sharia states have their country governed by sharia criminal laws.

The rest of Nigeria must not continue to be held hostage in one Nigeria.
Politics › Re: 30 Boko Haram Sponsors Arrested - Daily Post by discusant:
Millions of Nigerians in the north of the country share the same aspirations with Boko Haram. The common aspiration is for a Islamic Nigeria governed with sharia criminal justice system.

Twelve northern Nigeria states adopted use of sharia criminal justice system beginning 2000, after which Boko Haram emerged and says it is fighting for a country governed with sharia criminal justice system.

Nigeria may spend fortune and eternity fighting Boko Haram but no armed forces ever wins a religious movement whose objective is supported by millions of adherents of the religion.

Split Nigeria to end Boko Haram violence. Let the twelve northern sharia states have their sharia governed country which they indirectly asked for when they adopted unconstitutional sharia criminal laws.
