Do they really understand what they are doing at all because anywhere in the world train is always cheaper than car or bus. The country is moving backward instead of forward.
Where? let's do real life comparison let's see if trains are always cheaper than bus grin

1. More passengers will drive the transport fare down. Compare fare of taxicab to Danfo to Lagbus.

2. More fuel economy as a result of infrequent stops. (whether diesel or charcoal powered).
3. etc

1. If this was a single track narrow gauge rail it will probably be cheaper as the cost of running it will be much lower. As the case with Abj-Kad fare- it's only covering the operational cost. Perhaps if- a big if- private sector comes in to offer more then that assumption will work, at the moment they're barely covering the cost and hoping to gain some profit with haulage

2. Cost of diesel just shot up

grin What is wrong with you folks. You shout train!, train!, we want train! eh. Now Nigeria has mortgaged the future of her children's children to give you train. Billions of dollars in debt and you want to be paying 500 naira....one miserable dollar.

How much of one dollar will buy diesel, how much will pay staff, how much will pay for maintenance....how much will start paying debt. You folks better get real. If you are all too poor to go by train then there is no hope whatsoever of development.... kai, this is serious.

Has this become a white elephant already...kai...kai....were there no economists involved in the planning...?

The economist didn't see Covid19 and $1-N500 coming...na so so theory them sabi anyway

Are you kidding me? Train that should be cheaper than road transport

Many people keep saying it should be cheaper....why should it be cheaper?

CBN and their mickey mouse economics

Economy- 2000
Business- 6000
1st Class- 7000

And this is from Apapa/Ebutte Metta- Ibadan, not more or report.

Remember the trains are still using diesel, not cheap!!

I saw this somewhere today.
I ain’t no finance person.
Please, can someone kindly explain this to me in English language please?

PS: I can understand if it explained to me in Ijebu dialect too.

Thank goodness it's not too heavy on the oyinbo repute levels very typical of Nigerian institutions

I think they want people collecting money from the obodo oyinbo to collect it in US dollars so there's more 'demand' for naira and more forex

Or so I gathered...

Edit: New CBN Circular: CBN confirms only Banks can pay IMTO dollars

ahah If I talk nah dem go gather me wan beat, I heard that you can only deposit cash payment max 300 in every 180 days and its via pay point no physical bank

But who uses cash nowadays? You can get inbound payment as much as you want and for a new immigrant who most likely want salary or day to day transactions it's a perfect start

As a confirm Gentleman that I am not cut out for down and dirty style. Any purchase I can't do with clicks of the mouse I try as much as possible to avoid

Had similar experiences with previous posters, bought land from the king/chief ( every street seems to have a king now in naija) about to start proper building we started the back and forth for several months then eventually we got offered another plot few plots away- we accepted

Half way through construction they started seizing trucks not for Omo onile levels o but new conditions-- we must buy sand from Mr A,b, or c and stones from xyz "we are promoting business from this area only" this one didn't last long

First structure complete with tenants, now to pay rent another God no go shame us levels

You want to start legal proceedings with the king over his fake ancesteral land?

Sometimes you have to give Nigeria (or people) a break, especially when it is not the standard.

That said, the writing is fine. I am sure a woman wrote that. grin

Too true @break

But they can also help themselves by making things simpler. Just email the ticket code to the passengers to print or encourage them to use the airline's app, tap your phone to board- no need for printers

And they would learn how to use birth control pills a lot.

At least in Nigeria, there are still some culture.

Worse as in

Which is worse? Two teenagers have sex or a society where young girls are being openly targeted without repercussions

Culture of corruption or respecting anyone that has money. I wonder what this our culture has really done to improve humanity

Worried as in...? Please book an appointment with your GP asap to start treatment. Surprised they didn't direct you to the appropriate clinic

Or perhaps it's just an indication not really TB? Wait for the medical experts on here abeg or seek advice from your GP

Bro say no more if anyone like vex but I stand to be corrected, its those in these categories that castigate people going to Invest in Nigeria
1 The lack the business environmental knowledge in Nigeria
2 never done any sort of business before, straight from Uni to the Uk or any abroad
3 have no money
4 have no papers
5 pretenders
6 kids
etc

Here's where the problem is, no one is castigating anyone, a general discussion about investment in the country will and should always be viewed from both side- profit making opportunities and the very realistic risk involved.

People lose the land every day in lagos even after several years some with building already almost complete! Regulators change rules in the middle of a game- Gokada, uber etc they don't have money or didn't do their nigerian research?

You didn't include those that have real life experience of losing money investment in your list...

What do I know sef? I'm just an adopted ibeju kid grin

Pay your kids school fees directly to the school, buy health insurance with a reputable firm/hospital

When you're in town take them out or take them to your base on holidays

Leave the family alone

The Kaduna-Abuja train broke down again halfway in the middle of the bush, no one explain anything to the passengers up to 2:00am. This is Chinese loan investment that is not up to 2years and has broken down twice within 8

2:00am wow that's crazy, dont the drivers have direct contact with the control centre? If they can't get another one to pull it they can at least get coaches
