Congratulation to Chidi okoro ,all Nigerians ,all the blacks and mankind.Nigerians especially should see the positive side of this development.Firstly, there is this psychological/motivational advantage here as this will challenge all of us to be our best in all that we do and let the best be acceptable to the organisation /endeavour we find ourselves.

Secondly,I believe that the new MD will be very sensitive to responding to the demand of the local market especially in the area of price reduction and improving the quality of their products considering that he was born and bred in Nigeria.

Employment of Nigerians into the various important positions are most likely to increase.

And many more advantages.

Please lets show love to everyone.

I love you all!!!!!!!

Politics › Re: Aviation Fuel - Rising Cost Amid Unavailability by DisGuy: 2:50am On May 24, 2011
The un-abating scarcity of aviation fuel, known as JET-A1, which is an essential commodity in flight operations is hitting airlines harder by the day, as many of them are now cutting their flight schedules, out-rightly canceling them or delaying flights to enable them take full advantage of the meager supply from marketers.

The airlines are said to have lost in two weeks N7.2 billion to aviation fuel scarcity.

The product sells for N160 per litre from N98 which it hitherto sold for.

As a result of the scarcity, oil marketers are unable to supply enough JET-A1 to airlines. The price of the commodity in Nigeria is regarded as the highest in the world, leaving operators to groan under heavy operational costs, of which aviation fuel alone, accounts for over 50 percent.
Currently, some of the major airlines like Arik Air, Aero and Air Nigeria are finding it difficult to cope with the situation which has refused to abate.

Two weeks ago, when the scarcity again became noticeable, Arik Air and Air Nigeria’s flights that were scheduled to depart Enugu at 10.30a.m could not do so until 5.30p.m, leading to protests from passengers.

By the following Tuesday, an Aero flight scheduled to depart Lagos for Abuja at 9.50p.m did not depart the airport until well past midnight. The passengers only arrived at their destinations at 2a.m the next day.

One of the passengers on the flight said the flight was originally scheduled to depart at 5.55pm, but was asked to reschedule for 9.50p.m.
According to an Arik Air passenger, “The excuse they gave us was that they have not been able to get fuel from oil marketers due to its scarcity, but they have kept us in the dark since morning. The only thing I want from them now is the refund of my money.”

Another passenger of the airline to Port Harcourt who refused to disclose her identity said she was billed to sit for an exam in Port Harcourt penultimate Tuesday at 2p.m, but as at 5:30p.m, she was still stranded at the Lagos airport.

This development has put virtually all the airlines in a tight corner, leading to massive cut on their scheduled routes, amid serious competition for the few available seats offered to travellers.

Arik for instance, does an estimated 120 flights per day, but could only do 80 flights leading to a loss of 40 flights as a result of delays and cancellations, thus losing N269 million a day. Arik spends N400 million on fuel every week.

As for Aero Contractors which is second largest domestic carrier, and ordinarily operates about 80 flights per day, it has been operating between 40 and 45 flights per day leaving it with a short fall of about 15 to 20 flights per day. The airline by calculation has been losing close to N119 million per day.

Also lamenting the loss which his airline has had to endure, a senior official with IRS said the airline operates 15 flights daily, but has had to scale down flight operations. The airline operates with Fokker 100 which carries at least 100 passengers at once. For having to slow down on its operations, it is losing well over N25 million a day to the biting cost of aviation fuel.

And for Air Nigeria, the third largest airline, BusinessDay investigations show that the airline is losing about N100 million a day. “We have had to cope with the crippling effect of this aviation gas for operations. You can see we can’t fly as well as we should and have had to ration our routes,” an official of the airline said.

As a result of the high cost of the commodity in the country, both local and international airlines say they prefer to refuel their aircraft in neighbouring countries like Ghana, Togo and elsewhere, thereby depriving the country from milking from the huge businesses that abound.
Lamenting the situation, Harold Demuren, director general, Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), said while marketers have raised the price of their product over time, the carriers have only marginally increased air fares and thus stressed: “We cannot operate this way.”

Demuren noted that, “The price of aviation fuel in Nigeria is ridiculously too high. We need to knock this down. We are working on it and I believe we will be able to do this. We can’t continue this way.”

AjanleKoko:
They've already completed drainage and pavement for the finished sections of the road.
Paint the road ke? In areas where the bus lane is functional, like Ikorodu Road, what they did was to fence off the bus lane, and post LASTMA chaps to monitor the lane. Okadas and Danfo drivers no sabi read signs o grin

They did paint the lane on Western Avenue and 3rd Mainland Bridge. But they never tried to enforce the law on those roads, probably cos of the very heavy traffic experienced on those routes at peak hours.
By the time they see kondo olopa and about 80 okadas by the side with no owner they will understand lastma is not smiling- or actually just allow okadas, they dont take much space, motorcycles should be allowed on the BRT lane as long as they are not stop or picking/dropping passengers-and if they want to get rid of okadas they should allow only tricycles

When they enforce the law, people will be forced to use the BRT

AjanleKoko:
Unlikely, because of the sheer volume of people in Lagos. When you look at that and try to scale, the funds required to run and support a mass transportation service in Lagos to rival the City of London would be mind-boggling.

You know, lots of things have been tried in Lagos with little success. BRT is even enjoying moderate success.

How are you doing though? We haven't spoken in a while.
The sheer volume will make it work, the services will be introduced in phases, BRT is only about 5years old and not comprehensively linked yet but still making money, in the long run it will recover the cost

In V.I almost everyone park in front of their banks its absurd, they drive to work drive home, too much vehicle moving around. they don't even do car-share, its me and my motor

Absolutely not, it was a just a question

But I think you are trying to encourage someone that has a particular path with some information that might not really cut it in the hard nose world of Finance.

No school will admit a fresh graduate with Zero work experience into an MBA programme, even those graduates with relevance work experience say 2-3 years doing real work in finance will need some extraordinary talent to be admitted, that like 2% infact most of them will just wait considering the cost and time off work required. this wont be that much different other MBA pathways

I know you are trying to be nice but to be honest, where will a fresh graduate with MBA qualification fit in? he will most likely get a job but he will also be chosen along with others with just a Bachelors degree, earning the same thing going through the same entry level training
so you spend £12,000 for an MBA to get a N100,000-£400/month job doing same stuff with the dude with just a bachelors

Getting admissions for a Finance masters will be challenging but possible if you're coming from a numerate background. It will also help if you have some work experience or at least some certifications-you can actually just do this along with your Masters

Chambers, Finance is INTERNATIONAL so the trends in UK/US/ASIA is almost always applicable to local industry with regards to career entry and pathways

@sir george have you visited the career section of your university library?

he is not the easiest person to blame, he is the only person to blame, on several occasions Yaradua cut budgets or bills citing the very obvious- ridiculous shameless overprice these dude come up with, I remember he cut the Nigeria 09 budget and told them to cancel the damn tournament if they cant manage that amount!

What do you really think will happen if Jonathan decide to have this inauguration in house? you think the stock market will crash? or you think African leaders wont ask us for peace keeping soldiers again?

Just because something is this way dont mean you just have to nod your head to it, cancel the damn thing, nothing in the constituion says it has to be done with 'new uniforms and 3 million naira flowers from kenya'

Didn't they have a business model perhaps the congregation is drying up for some especially seeing as some big wigs are in jail or awaiting trial

These private institutions should be leading the way sourcing funds/grant for research from international organisations they are playing below par

Most of them got land for free from state government, access roads, electricity etc etc

Politics › Re: Foreign Investors Taking Position In Nigeria After Successful Elections by DisGuy: 8:48am On May 23, 2011
Any good entrepreneur would do anything to be in a market like this.
A market where you can dump anything and the people would buy is definitely a good place to stake your investment.

Investors think differently. Where the common man sees problems, they see opportunities.
Yes a good entrepreneur will set aside huge amount to bribe, bulldoze and cut the silly locals who just complain
they'll even ignore those costly health and safety issues that eat away funds in developed markets- i mean the people wont mind $300 compensation
The labourers can be paid below minimum wage and when they complain just get one of the local politician to take a picture with your brown oyinbo partner; providing jobs for his constituency and giving him mileage and if still dont ocmply just sack them for 'protesting'

Certainly you fake drugs, fake electrical cables, fake hair, fake baby milk, international cement

You'll make a killing i tell you, forget the problems- see the profits you can even hire pastor to buy your sins smiley
