It was an embarrassing drama as the legislators who were deliberating on a Motion on Notice to congratulate Dr. Emmanuel Okwesilieze Nwodo, National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) shouted their colleague down.
they were actually debating a motion to congratulate someone? when there are millions of failing business in town
what next have a weekend 'congratulatory workshop' in Paris?

Don't blame the hotels. If there was constant power supply in this country, it would be different. For instance, imagine yourself having a 40-room hotel and you have just 2 people occupying the cheapest rooms at N5,000 per day/nite and they both checked in during the day time. You are forced to burn diesel from daytime, through the nite till day break. At the end of the day, you've spent more on diesel that what they paid to lodge. And you have a hotel to run, staff to pay and your own personal bills. It's not easy.Don't blame them.
and the days they are getting full capacity with their exorbitant price? If the management is good they will get local business to patronise them for their conference and also have long term regulars; chances are these hotels wont bring their prices down  even if there is constant power supply, they have a way of fixinf their price bringing out some other excuse, the cost of diesel is not affecting airline doing N6000 promos

----Generally speaking buildings and facilities in Lagos are not well maintained and the Moorhouse now falls in to that category. The room (suite) I stayed in is in serious need of paint, the bathroom is in a sorry state, gardens are not maintained. There are pot plants on the balconies of the rooms and on the landings in front of the rooms - well the plants are dying as they are not being watered. I watered the plants every night during my stay and what a difference a bit of water can make to a plant.

I had guests over for dinner at the Moorhouse restaurant. It took 1 hour for the starters to be served and another hour before the main course arrived. At that stage we decided to give deserts and coffee a miss.

No return to the Moorhouse for me.

----Not recommended. The hot water in the hotel has not functioned for over a month, except for one week when there was only hot water but no cold water at all. For some reason, at night there is only one person working besides security personnel, so it takes a tremendous amount of time to check in, check out, retrieve luggage or do any other reasonable thing.

review on a $410 hotel

you really cant blame the government for these 'little' things

kokoye:
I support Sauron here.

Apart fro the basic ammenities like electricity n water, how many people patronize Nigerian hotels compared to the numbers who patronize hotels in Dubai and New York?? Not a lot I am sure.

In New York, a hotel services hundereds of guests per night . . i'm sure a Nigerian hotel may not have up to half of that. So the cost will be spread over the little clients they have of course, since no company wants to run at a loss.

Also think about the extra security Nigerian companies have to pay for.

The only think I cant stand is that these hotels or companies will NOT reduce their prices even when things get better.  angry

Now dont get me started on cstomer service . . it is non-existent in my country
Thats because they are criminally over priced! they are shooting themselves in the foot by setting higher rates, even heard some only collect dollars if you want to book in advance!!!  shocked

If prices are fair many people will go away on weekend holidays, stay longer for out of state exams or training etc etc
Travel › Re: Are Nigerian Hotels And Guest Houses Over-priced? by DisGuy(mod): 1:39pm On Jun 24, 2010
They always hide under - power and water

THE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS RUBBISH FOR THE MOST PART!!

most of them think the higher their price the higher their ratings, they dont want to be looked ast as being too cheap

Even small hotels that should cater for travellers charge like crazy!!

I think this is one reason why the officers will rather drive your vehicle to the station.I really sympathize with the family of the deceased.

On the other hand, however, I often feel like running down some of these urchins especially when they surprise me on interstate roads asking for radio permits and all other nonsense. By the way, I need some education on why I am supposed to pay for a car radio permit for a state I'm just passing through. That's some diversion but I'll appreciate some education in that regards.

Politics › Re: Driver Throws Traffic Official Out Of Moving Vehicle by DisGuy: 12:21pm On Jun 24, 2010
Hopefully they will come out with a better system of fining on the spot or seizing their license for a period of time
instead of always jumping in the car asking for bribe with no receipt

The deceased man was assigned to follow the arrested vehicle and the driver to the office to process his arrest
Politics › Re: Ghana Kicks Glo Out ! <<Misleading Title>> by DisGuy: 11:20am On Jun 24, 2010
read the article very well,

is it the Ghanaian government destroying Glo billboards or competitors or disgruntled Ghanaians who don't like Nigerians?

South African companies entering Nigeria probably don't this petty complaint when their generators get stolen or their cables vandalized in Nigeria, When DSTV's license was wrestled away with the help of Nweke Junior for the benefit of a Nigerian company I'm sure we enjoyed it
Politics › Re: Only 13 People Pass Imo's 10,000 Jobs Test! by DisGuy: 11:16am On Jun 24, 2010
He said the interview for the successful ones would be conducted in the state by the Civil Service Commission in collaboration with the technical committee with detailed briefing by consultants. He expressed shock that in an examination of 19,000 graduates only 13 could scored above 80 per cent, adding that the situation on ground spoke volumes on the state of education in Imo State.
so basically the Commissioner is telling the world his government and the previous Govt have failed in terms of education

so what incentives do those 13 get for passing with the original pass mark? quota-system re-defined

@Omo alata:

Take them to the country side, and make them see more natural stuffs. Especially the villages around. They'll love it. This is because I think they'll be bored seeing what they are used to abroad.
Show them wetin they never see! Drive them around the ghetto areas like Mushin, A.J etc and tell them stories of how things got that bad. Show them people suffering and tell them why they must not neglect or abuse the privilege they have.
Take them around beaches. You can as well fly them to other parts of the country like Obudu ranch and spend some few days there, using the opportunity to tour Ancient and modern Calabar. Visit museums and tell them stories about structures. You can also take them to Abeokuta to see the "Olumo" rocks
good idea but depending on the age of the kids; might also backfire- they'll be scared for life or until they are older!!

why should they go on strike? Are there no police officers in the town
of course there are police officers in teh town, just unfortunate they were probably the ones behind these attacks, if you consider the very low amount they get from ekiti/ondo resident through roadblocks they upped the ante and went for the full monty!!

Oboma1:
I learnt there was this agreement the airline had with the state government; that the government will pick the bill for the remaining seats not paid for by passengers. The state government later reneged in the agreement based on the fact that, the airline on very many occasion, had full house (all seats paid for by passengers). The airline did not find it funny. That lead to suspension of their services to that route.

Currently, Dana air now ply that route. I want to believe, there is more to this agreement. If indeed, the state was supposed to pay for seats not paid for by passengers, why is the airline still claiming money for seats paid for? If the state agreed to be giving the airline some grants to make up for seats not paid for, and the risk of flying their latest aircrafts to this dangerous airspace (for now), why are they now reneging? Is this not jealousy on the part of the state government? Is this not greed on the part of the carrier? So many questions begging for answers!.
chei see government business sense o, taxpayers money for a private company

So how is the international airport doing traffic wise
