I was just wondering if it's ideal for a grown up guy to be working in his father's company as well as living in his father's house together with them, how do you think he would be respected enough to make his own decisions despite the fact that he is the only son of the family in terms of getting married, this is currently happening to a good friend of mine and he's not finding it funny at all.Nlanders what do you think!!!!!!
If he cant make the decision to move out of the house then he cant be trusted to make decisions being the only son has nothing to do with it

Are they stopping him or he is just doesn't  know what to do?

is he finding the free rent, feeding, free job funny tongue

With all due respect,I respect Dapo's courage to come on nairaland and face vicious attack from nairalanders.if not anything,it shows that he is Internet-age conscious. In recent past we have seen over-bloated lawmakers who has no knowledge of the yearnings of their people because they were rigged in by the powers in Abuja.
Its funny u reside in the USA see how things work, but advocate the worst policies for Nigeria

GOVT mandates do not provide better services. . .

The thing that will drop prices is more competition. . .

The MAIN ONE cable provider will not only sell bandwidth to MTN,but to all other Communication companys in Nigeria, like GLO,ETISALAT,ZAIN and so on

I am guessing that if MTN jacks up its prices, the rest will lower them to steal customers from MTN
Please watch the video i posted above

Its funny that u want a GOVT that failed woefully in NITEL to now dictate to Private companies how much they should charge for their service
Its like u dont see how badly that policy is stunting the growth of Private sector providers of electricity in Nigeria

Competition alone is not a guarantee prices will drop with all the competition in nigeria we are still paying through the nose for using mobile phone when compared to many parts of africa, these providers can easily hide under govt infrastructural problems, these guy re-coup their investment in about 2years instead of the projected 5years
In Europe

The European Commission's today brought into force new limits on roaming mobile data charges, aiming to prevent users from running up large mobile bills while travelling abroad.

The new rules will mean that users will be automatically cut off when their data charges reach to €50 (£41).
With all the competiton
The European Commission, frustrated by lack of competition, started regulating roaming prices in 2007. In July 2009, further cuts were approved that will reduce roaming prices in stages until July 2011, when maximum roaming prices will be capped at 35 cents a minute for calls made and 11 cents for calls received.

These rules will remain in place until the end of June 2012, when the commission will reassess its roaming policy.

"I am determined to make the EU's telecoms markets more competitive," Kroes added.

To think thought they do be the first to lunch this sub-marine cable!

Nevertheless, i expect two things, faster internet access and cheaper rates!
I can't be paying 15k for 250hrs with Starcomms Izap!!
or they'll just gang up and start price fixing blaming the govt for security, vandalism and lack of infrastructure cheesy
Sports › Re: Time For Lulu To Prove His Love For Nigerian Football and resign! by DisGuy: 12:18pm On Jul 02, 2010
Seconded!! but i dont agree with this part

If he resigns PTF can now organise a new election for NFF, widen the field, involve all ex-players of recognised football leagues (home or away), current players of recognised football leagues, home or away, all stakeholders i.e. managers and administrators of all football clubs in Nigeria
.

PTF are bloody politicians who cant manage their state league, trusting them to 'organise' an election will be a distater the ycan just put 'popular' ex players there that dont know what they are doing

Management consultants should organise an interview opening up the field to people with private sector management experience

Industry watchers say that the system would also contribute to an immediate 50 percent drop in the price of bandwidth in Nigeria and Ghana, and
Exaggerated lies  cheesy

I think GLO 1s Landing last yr was a publicity stunt as they still had some work to do. . .
but i think its either up and running skeletal services or is about to
publicity stunt? this will also be described as a stunt as well because tehy will have to set things up now

Glo landed last year and this same experts said the price will crash within months.   .    .   .
the country doesnt have the infrastructure yet for immediate roll out

Good thing all the same

Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Don't Take A Job At Dangote If You Have A Choice by DisGuy: 10:14pm On Jul 01, 2010
NaijaNaWaa:
You guys should note that Dangote is not a businessman in the real sense of it. He is someone who uses his closeness to the corridors of power to make a kill: oil blocks, import waivers/evassion, contracts, tax waivers/evasion, and what have you. His likes are called RENT SEEKERS. Therefore Dangote does not really depend on his workforce to be rich. Moreover, it is possible that the sudden exit of Yar'Adua has affected his share of the Abuja largesse. Notice that Femi Otedola, his rival and enemy has just been given a prominent position by Jonathan. Generally, one man businesses are a big risk for employees. Accept the offer if u have no choice but reject if you can afford to.
So because some people were sacked we should now start blaming the individual?
You are acting as if Dangote is the only business man in nigeria that benefited from govt policies
when the going was good all these years nobody bat an eyelid when teh economy turns people take it personal
people lost their job during the consolidation period, people lost their jobs when nigerian airways went bust
and so on its the way it is stop making it personal

So this is already on Nairaland! Heard about it too.

I would have been a victim! But I thank God for His direction. I was tempted with almost 3 times my pay! The most painful aspect is the director that was sacked. He was a director in a rival company, lured to work with Dangote and asked to go after less than 14months in service. Even Management Trainees were not spared. All were sacked.

Please be careful and ask good questions before taking that job. Not all that glitters are gold.
Why are you pitying the Director, He will get a job within weeks, and he was not lured he was headhunted and he would have agreed some severance payment into his ocntract so you should pity the smaller guys and nigerian labour laws

The economy is bad

SUKKIE:
Dude, the highlighted bit above is so rude and absolutely unnecessary.
Well, you dont have to infringe on the intellectual capability of the next dude regardless of the disparity in your views.

Back to the post, even the virtually impaired can see that I stated and I still reiterate the need to curtail immigration so long as it is fit for purpose.
At the moment,it seems rather oppressive. Take an indian on Highly Skilled Visa who earns 24grand with NetworkRail;with this policy he needs to earn close to 40grand to renew is HSW visa, otherwise he's gonna be kicked out.Where on earth is he goona get that from? That sounds draconian to me thou.By stating that the Brits aignt that hardworking ,contextually I only meant a sizeable no of them are lazy vis-a-vis there enabling system.
The UK unfortunately does not owe him a living, there is India, Middle East, USA,Canada and Australia

it is funny how people call their policies draconian and their people lazy yet they dont compare these policies with other countries like Australia, USA, France etc

Its not a coincidence that the UK has the highest number of EU and non EU immigrants entering its country

Most have no real power though they take advantage to collect money from people for services

They should be given small powers like being in charge of the LG environment-cleaning, drainage and residential parking and Education within their District

at the moment they dont do anything on their own just wait for governor to give them capaign funds to paste posters
