tascoray:
Please fellow Nairalanders, Why do we have more Foreigners expert in the Niger-Delta than their Nigerian counterparts?
Also, Why should our Engineers be sent abroad for further acquisition of knowledge on Engineering? Are Nigerian engineers not competent? If yes what are the reasons?

experts, that's what they are, they(those not being used to siphon money by governors) usually have portfolios of COMPLETED PROJECT, they know how to package their work, they have very good experience in winning contracts and they also have financial backing from banks

kayzed:
wots your beef with nigerian engineers ishmael, agreed nigerian engineers might be slightly incompetent 4 obvious reasons such as been taught outdated courses and not going to the field to practice. check stats when nigerian engineers go abroad they always trounce their counterparts from elsewhere. the way forward is reviewing engineering syllabus with what is obtainable globally and field involvement should also be emphasized.
where is this stats? hmm no wonder Nigerians are in high demand home and abroad grin

I was shocked that in this age and time an educated man could be so beastily.

Politics › Re: Lagos Is An Evil State. Let's Send Jobless Migrants Back To Their States by DisGuy: 1:20pm On Jan 22, 2008
Germannig:
More reason why development should be evenly spread throught Nigeria, and not concentrated in one place. By so doing, unemployed (and therefore potentially bad), bad Igbos, bad Edos, bad Hausas, bad Tivs bad Niger Deltans, and of course, bad Yorubas) from states other than Lagos will remain in their states with some measure of gainfull employment. Nigerian leaders (actually misleaders) never learn anything. What dafts in power.
agree with you, BUT the state government should do their bits as well instead of looting their people dry, others are busy inviting foreign investors the rest are buying properties in London,Dubai and LAGOS; funding local cult member to unleash mayhem in their own states
Politics › Re: Goodbye To Molue! by DisGuy: 5:19am On Jan 22, 2008
denuda:
so if okada and molue are banned, what do u want the common man to use.u cannot put the horse before the cart,make provisions for those who depend on molue,the constitution states the primary aim of a govt is welfare and security, not beautification on lagos,welfare first.
I don't think it's a good idea to introduce new vehicles with those molues around, as those molues are phased out new buses should be introduced gradually or else they'll be more congestion/pollution
it's part of their job, enforcing the law- removing unlicensed vehicles and dangerous drivers from the road!

tayo4me:
I don't know why people like complaining. People complain when the government does good or bad.
I have always heard people say politicians go to other countries and see how things are done there, but refuse to do similar things in Nigeria.
We have seen someone that wants to do something similar, yet we are still complaining.
I don't how true the story is, but I support the move if it is true.
I seriously think the time has come for changes in this State. The transport system is one thing that needs urgent attention, so banning molue is a great step indeed!
thank you, we want so much change in that country but when change comes we can't recognise it

If/When lagosians are committed to change, the process will be faster and less inconvenient

Sent an email to that a Bank draft be issued to my Stock Brokers. Diamond Reach Account product manager called me on my mobile to inform me there was abetter way; they are able to transfer the funds to the Broker Account in GTB. I sent an email requesting the transfer and providing the details of the GTB account. The next time I logged in about an hour later it had been done. Now is that 5 star customer services or what?

NB: Please note no money has been collected to say this.!!!!!!

why don't you list the outstanding players that were left out especially those in the local league since some of us have never seen them play and the asst coach that has couldn't recommend them

dayokanu:
I beleive those glorious Enyinmba boys 2 years ago are better than some pro players like Etuhu, Shitu, Olofinjana,

Those North African teams are better than some European side paticularly those div 2 players. Amuneke as at 1994 was playing in Zamalek. Ahly players are better than a lot of foreign based players. See how Ahly performs in Intercontinental competitions Take Watford, Sunderland or Wolves there and you would see Blood.

To put it bluntly, the girl needs to realise that he is no longer interested in being her boyfriend. Otherwise, why would he stupidly allow another girl to pick his phone. It's not a case of cheating on the girl any more, it's a case of not caring.
there's nothing wrong with someone else picking your phone to be honest, esp when you are lumped together in a camp

Nairaland General › Re: Effective Online Forum Usage by DisGuy: 3:07pm On Jan 17, 2008
Here are some potential negative effects of excessive forum usage:

* Reduced concentration and focus
* Reduced productivity
* Chronic procrastination
* Increased pessimism and/or apathy
* Being distracted by endless debates and idle gossip
* Gradually substituting tribal group think for your own intelligence
* Impaired social skills, neglected relationships, and a weakened social circle (a consequence of substituting online socialization for face-to-face conversations)
* Reduced energy (forum participation is sedentary compared to more active social outlets)
* Reduced self-esteem
* Career and income may suffer (including loss of employment)
* Forum addiction
on point!

4pm deadline today. i'm still here shocked shocked

I heard the commissioner for environment is also trying to do something about noise pollution
hopefully call to prayer will be restricted to Fridays only and church speakers to Sundays/Saturdays only

Risky but I will look for one low nominal priced stock (compared to others in the same industry) that I can ride on during the next bull run whenever that is.

It must of course trade adequate volumes and have fair fundamentals. It's not as easy as it sounds though but I am digging in.

wickedness?
90% of those molue will fail an MOT test, 99% of them don't have insurance
some vehicles with no MOT and insurance are crushed on the spot in the UK- 4000 cars crushed
its funny how there a post titled -will nigeria ever get better yet you dismiss solutions to some of our problem

get ready for congestion charges too road levies

It will clean up Lagos no doubt in the long run but jeez how hard can it be to get a public system going.
ask ken Livingstone wink
will over 12+million people living in an unplanned island what do you expect
