" "I went over to the body where there was a lady sitting there and she said he was dead. She had comforted him by putting something under his back and a jacket over his head. I took his pulse and there was none. I couldn't see the man's face but I could see no evidence that suggested someone had tried to cut off his head. I could see nothing on him to suggest that he was a soldier.
"Then a black guy with a black hat and a revolver in one hand and a cleaver in the other came over. He was very excited and he told me not to get close to the body. I didn't really feel anything. I was not scared because he was not drunk, he was not on drugs. He was normal. I could speak to him and he wanted to speak and that's what we did.
"I spoke to him for more than five minutes. I asked him why he had done what he had done. He said he had killed the man because he [the victim] was a British soldier who killed Muslim women and children in Iraq and Afghanistan. He was furious about the British army being over there. " stop watch CNN watch BBC..the yanks love exaggerating everything the reason people werent running scared was because the attackers themselves were very calm and they obviously had a target[armed forces] |

PapaBrowne: I wondered yesterday about the blood factor and the fact that there was a total absence of panic on the scene. I have never lived in UK, but I lived long enough in Europe and America to know the potential reaction in such a scenario. The other amazing thing is the time it took for the cops to get to the scene. Very unusual. Even in Nigeria, 20-30 mins is a long time. In a town like woolich, we should be talking maximum 5 mins before the cops get to the scene. I'm not easily given to conspiracy theories and dont know what to think about it, but obviously something isnt right about the whole drama. first call to the police was of assault, normal police were dispatched, susbsequent calls report weapons- thats when the firearm police were dispatched to the scene. arrived within 15mins normal uk police dont have weapons |

no amount of cashless, ebanking jargon can replace physical branch- there are cities with smaller population...
perhaps if these banks stop building huge castles in the name of banks they can cut down cost of running high street banks, they can fit everything into the size of a take away shop if they are efficient themselves, all these multi-storey buildings they are using doesnt make sense especially as they are not even accessible to everyone |

they attempted to behead him speaking to bystanders and were of course killed by the police AFTER they were in custody. they were shot when they ran towards the police and they are even alive! so come again funny world these niccas are getting treated by the nhs to stay alive smh i guess they want information from them |

Tgirl4real: GTB that is known for efficiency, innovation and promptness seems to have seriously declined in their service delivery. Recently, I have had to spend more time in a GTB banking hall than the usual before I was attended to. Same with the queue at their ATM points. It seems the Online 24/7 centers they opened isn't achieving much.
The most annoying part is the fact that I have to get to where my account is domiciled before I can pick up my ATM card. You can just imagine! After ignoring them for several months, I finally went to pick it up yesterday. When I asked them why it couldn't be transferred, I was told they don't transfer within the same state. Rubbish!
On the other hand, First Bank is doing exceptionally well. You get a replacement for your ATM card within 10mins of making a request and the long queue in the banking hall has since been dealt with. Banking with them is now very convenient and fast. Superb IMO! lost my card last year in abuja, was told it will take a week or two weeks to get a new card in lagos, but faster if i go to the 'main branch' doesnt make sense- spent two hours on a friday in one of their branches! Another thing i dont understand with all banks= even with all their efficiency why they don't ever post anything to you, whats the point of taking customers address when you will be required to be physically present when you have a problem- all banks statements are never posted, complaints will require physical presence etc etc- they should stop requesting your address then, imagine if other service providers also require proof of address like the banks do when opening an account |

AjanleKoko: LOL. At all. We are all Nigerians. All this foreign-trained, local-trained, worreva. We share a common destiny in my view.
Hopefully maybe this perspective will help people look at developing their soft skills. I do feel we have a serious problem with that. The way we communicate for one. There are actually courses that help people with business writing, speaking, and whatnot. That might well be better investment than all these PMP, CFA, worreva that everybody prefers to accumulate. in addition to what other forumite about the society in general all these training/certificate sell over the others because companies perhaps use these as part of their screening tools and the first advice most job seekers get is to do one or two courses or join some redundant institute like NIM |

AjanleKoko: My bad there. Lemme provide some small clarification, since I brought up the topic. The summation stems from various discussions I've had with foreigners who work in Nigeria, and who all seem to prefer to work with people who have had some measure of experience outside Nigeria. Be it education or work experience.
From what I have identified, soft skills seem to be the problem they have with most of us Nigerians (yes, I am one of them!) who have schooled and worked almost exclusively in Nigeria. Hence the various items I have listed. right on the money I'm all for people travelling outside their farms- afam stop dreaming about ny just go biko |
Career › Re: A Harsh Take On Locally-Trained Nigerians by DisGuy: 1:33pm On May 21, 2013 |
mediainspired: A HARSH TAKE ON FOREIGN-TRAINED NIGERIANS (my general observations).
1. Most of them are over-rated and not half as good, technical or rugged as the Nigerian-trained graduates.
2. Most of them bamboozle would-be employers with fake UK accents and those employes suffering from inferiority-complex are usually deceived and hire them with a smiling face.
3. Most of them are lazy and think top administrative work or supervisory roles over their Nigerian counterparts is their birthright.
4. They usually don't understand the business terrain in Nigerian and can run down a company quickly when handed the keys than a locally-trained Nigerian who knows his onions would.
5. Most of the training is just a waste. The real training they have is the first degree they got in Nigeria before leaving for overseas.
6. Most of them are hired as square pegs in round holes in Nigeria. No real job experience overseas, but they're quickly hired here becos of the foreign certificates (by would-be employers suffering from inferiority complex).
7. After my close relationship with some of them, one thing is clear to me: NO ONE CAN DAZZLE ME WITH A FOREIGN CERTIFICATE. U WILL NEED TO PROVE UR WORTH LIKE EVERYONE ONE ELSE! mistook you for Mr Ajanlekoko for a sec |

eGuerrilla: ^^^ This is where the real challenge lies, in my opinion. There is no easy route to success here, and Nigerians are going to have to get used to seeing troops returning home in body bags, once the theater of war is extended to urban towns. you are assuming the troops will hold fire in urban areas to avoid 'civilian' casualties the same troops that don't hold back on rioters or students during protests |
