We also know that there's power above behind this. But our gallant senator doesn't move a bit because she knows the majority is with her.

When the dust is settled, they will vomit everything and name the losers that sent them.

INEC has come out to deny having knowledge of this shameful act. I wonder how it's going to stand in the eyes of the law!

Exactly! Since 2021 the FG has passed a law which states host communities in the Oil and Gas Free Zone are entitled to 60% of all jobs in the area.

They also have the right of first refusal for contracting as long as their competence is proven.

Anambra kicked out other Igbos from its civil service more than 7 years ago.

You expect state governments whose IGRs are shared by the FG to employ people from other states when their taxes go to the Centre? Just because Lagos is magnanimous doesn't make it a right.

My concern socio-politico-economically really is the implementation of the the PIA and Host Community Development Trust, and the stipulations of the Oil and Gas Freelance Zone, all formed/created in 2021.
Those would employ multiple times what the state government ever can directly and indirectly. And that's just employment-wise.

Did you read my first comment quoting Ibime? Maybe you missed it but it began with a "Maybe". Then I went on to oppose his assertion that Nigerians don't write in such a tone.
Plenteous evidence on the internet suggests there have been several letters of apology by Nigerians pre-ChatGPT so crafted.

Was the letter's content overly-patronising and pretentiously grovelling? Yes, it was; but that's not the point. The point is, Nigerians don't have a one-track mind and there's no definitive cast-in-mortar way we all write.

I state this because too many people on the internet these days try to downplay the penmanship of writers and the articulation of other social media users as "AI.".

semid4lyfe:
This issue dey rage for office platform and some people don post the same thing wey you post so make I chip in

For me, the giveaway that the letter was written by AI is not so much the flowery and wordy tone but

1. The Title of the letter.

He wrote,

Dear Chidera,
LETTER OF APOLOGY TO MR CHIDERA

This is AI being used without proof reading, proper editing and correction.

It should have been

Dear Chidera,
LETTER OF APOLOGY

2. The overly patronizing tone and almost beggarly nature of the letter. The lecturer threw all his pride away. and was grovelling at the feet of the student. This is very uncharacteristic of a Nigerian lecturer.

3. The content of that letter went far and beyond the subject matter.

Look at the lines below:

I understand that my apology cannot erase the past, but I hope it can be a step towards healing and moving forward.

Erase past? healing? moving forward? kilode? on top a singular incident! When no be long term broken relationship?

Please know that I am committed to changing my behavior and ensuring that all my students feel safe, respected, and supported in the classroom. I will do everything in my power to prevent similar incidents from happening in the future.

How did a simple personal apology letter, expand in scope to ensuring all his students are respected, supported and feel safe in class?

If you are willing, I would like to meet with you to discuss how I can make amends and support you in any way possible. Please let me know if this is something you would be open to, and we can arrange a time and place that works for you.

Support? Did the student break some bones and land in hospital as a result of that clearance?

Again, this is overboard and uncharacteristic of a Nigerian lecturer, especially the one in question.

Even if I wan run this kain parole with the student, na to obtain hin digits, control am. give him a nice time and press small change for hin aza. Finish.

The letter is AI being used without human oversight and proof that AI sef dey gba.

Summarily, I can bet my March salary that the apology letter was generated by AI.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by DissTroy(m): 12:25pm On Mar 16, 2025
Ibime:
It's not about the grammar, it's about the tone of the letter.

Nigerians are more forceful in their tone even when apologising. They don't write that meekly. Even the best Nigerian writers have a bit of "bite" and pride in their words even whilst apologising.

The tone used in that letter was specifically from a feminine or gãy British HR advisor, and one of total surrender, and was mined from ChatGPT. The thug that raked that guy doesn't have that in him.
There's PR-speak and it comes with a lot bullshitting and posturing. Maybe he outsourced it to a communications firm to word his apology. Maybe. The internet is rife with apologies by Nigerians using similar tones before ChatGPT became a thing.

Attributing any piece of writing which seems so delicately crafted devoid of what we expect to AI is ultimately saying Nigerians are monolithic in our verbal or lexical expressions. People write in millions of ways.

Nigerians will use stories and proverbs to apologise - "our people say the sun should not go down on your anger", "to err is human" etc to conceal their pride at apologising, they just don't start licking mud straight away and throughout the whole apology.
There goes the sweeping generalized assertions again based simply on personal anecdotes.
You've probably seen too many Pete Edochie and Amaechi Munagor movies. Not all of us are chiefs munching on kolanuts at the village square.

ChatGPT wrote the lecturers apology letter. Nigerians don't write in this tone.
Maybe ChatGPT did for this lecturer, but don't generalize. I've been writing and speaking in very formal wordy tones (even in the course of regular WhatsApp exchanges) for years before OpenAI got its $1 billion funding in 2015, and certainly before the first iteration of ChatGPT in 2022; Including here on Nairaland. My friends and acquaintances write and speak in similar tones too.

I don't know what demography of Nigerians you've been acquiesced with, but a very sizeable number of Nigerians are reputed for having a very rich vocabulary stock; and even more so those in the academia whom this Nekede lecturer is a part of.

Soyinka, Hon. Patrick Obahiaghon and others famous for using seemingly grandiosely formal words aren't outliers or exemptions as I interact with such people everyday.

I am talking about the governorship aspirants in apc.

What you are basically saying is that Tinubu is planning to leave them in the cold to suffer.

That's the plan?
No. I'm saying political self-preservation comes first. If cutting deals with incumbent governors on the platform of any party would guarantee his return in 2027, it's a more convenient than the political turmoil of trying to upstage the incumbents to get his party members in.

If cutting deals with the President ensures return for the State Governors, it's better than banking on the gamble of their parties cliching the central and fighting an FG-funded opposition in their terrains.

After all, isn't party allegiance a means to and end, and the end being winning elections and the juicy benefits? It's always been about partnerships of convenience.

Ensuring your party wins all positions is secondary as long as it doesn't affect your own re-election.

It's basically every man for himself. If you can campaign hard with ground soldiers to win votes, good for you. But the FG wouldn't move mountains for you.

You think Abia's OUK who is the de facto leader of Abia APC wouldn't cut deals with Otti if it ensures Abia delivers significantly for Tinubu and OUK returns to the Senate while he lets Otti have a field day?

- When was the last time you heard Niger Delta Governors criticize the FG?
- Did you see our Governors publicly wade in when the FG stopped allocation to Fubara after the Supreme Court ruling recently?
- Did you see any PDP ND Governor wade into the recent PDP South South Conference or oppose what Wike thinks is the resolution?

"Campaign based on our achievements as a party in the state. Campaign based on what you will do. Do not attack the APC or the federal government or other political parties. No insults to them. Campaign only on what we have done and what you will do when elected. "

In return, Akpabio weakened the APC so they couldn't field LG candidates in most places, and he didn't campaign for them.

........GloriousG analysis gets k-leg cos it was Okowa that funded Atiku the most in the last Election. Though I agree with him Wike held the party, financed it well until 2023 but he did all these not because he genuinely love the party, rather for his own ambition.

Northern Governors ain't gonna spend shishi on the party in the next presidential election, rather gonna focus mainly on local politics - cos Atiku is leaving the party to join El Rufai in SDP.

I heard Peter Obi is on his way to SDP too.
Erm, Tinubu and the Akwa Ibom Governor are chummies. Akpabio has decimated opposition attempts for the Akwa Ibom Governor as he's also pals with Akpabio so in 2027, if everything remains the same, here's how it would go:

- Governorship: All support for the PDP Governor.
- Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District: PDP fields a weak candidate so Akpabio carries the day.
- Presidential election: I don't see the Governor throwing his weight behind a PDP candidate. It'd a free-for-all. Obi, the PDP, and Tinubu would slug it out.

I don't think PDP can bank on Akwa Ibom for the Presidential. And I don't think the State Governor is pumping as much money to PDP national body like Udom Emmanuel or Akpabio did.

You still don't get it, do you? I don't care about their politics or partisan wranglings. I'm more of an ideological voter who cares little about party.

Saraki is a politician on the fringes whose influence has whittled faster than an ice cube in a hot bathtub. Atiku would say just about anything for the optics while they both kept mute about the slain Deborah by extremists. Akpabio would say same about them if the roles were reversed too.

I don't care about the partisan ping pong they are playing even though the Senate has made it clear Natasha's suspension has nothing to do with her war-of-words with Akpabio but procedural misconduct to the seat reallocation.
What I care about is a broader issue of pyromaniacs looking to torch any man accused without evidence by a woman. I haven't deviated from my point.

Godswill Akpabio isn't the best Governor Akwa Ibom has had. Arc. Victor Attah (1999 - 2007) is the best Akwa Ibom has had and the father of the modern Akwa Ibom.
He's the one who drafted the 30-year Akwa Ibom development blueprint which successive governors must follow. That's why regardless of who is governor, development must follow a particular plan. And spread in a particular direction to all LGAs.

Akpabio only seems like the best because he had access to humogous amounts. Akwa Ibom was earning $1.7 billion from the FAAC yearly under him.
He also enjoyed monies Attah didn't have access to after the 13% derivative formula and collecting all 76 oil wells from Cross River State in 2009.

In 2013, Dr. NOI, Minster of Finance then, said if Akwa Ibom used only 50% of the monies accrued to use for development purposes, we'd be the mini Dubai of Nigeria. And she's right. You don't want to get me started on the monies Akpabio wasted.
Heck! Ibom Tropicana project was #100 billion paid in full by him yet he didn't complete it until Udom revitalized it with the PPP that it currently is.

You've shown a poor grasp of the specifics of her accusation (she never said she was raped, or sexually assaulted), but it hasn't stopped you from calling her harlot , jezebel and other such names...so much energy for someone claiming he doesn't want to be in a position where he's defending Akpabio grin
I'd deactivate my account this minute if you show any post of mine calling Natasha a harlot this year or any other year. smiley

I don't give a tuppence about Akpabio. But what I have been consistently doing since the first day I registered on Nairaland is campaigning against believing women without evidence or crucifying men without evidence. I can link old threads and posts by me on dormant accounts doing same.

I can screenshot same from an influential WhatsApp group peopled by powerful women who hate me for speaking up on the same issue two days ago. Those same women know I flay Akpabio every other day for corruption.

Now show me where I tagged Natasha a harlöt. smiley
