I'm glad to know you supported the removal in 2012 and support it now! I'm convinced it's the right thing to do! Market forces will bring the price down eventually!
theoldpretender:
I can confidently tell you that while I was a PDP opponent in 2012...I was no subsidy removal opponent.

It was a sensible thing then...and it was a sensible thing now.

But we don't have to wait till oil reaches $100.

GSM was introduced into this country at a time when most Nigerians could not afford it. People paid high prices , but the money was invested in better equipment and prices came down

As for why many Nigerians protested...the reason is simple. People in 2012 only saw that price of fuel goes up from N65 to N140. Not any long term benefits.

Was it not a Northern head of state that annulled the election after wasting resources to conduct it? Why did Shonekan not hand over power to Abiola immediately the interim govt was formed? Yeye dey smell!
BuhariAdvocate:
Hausa people and Yoruba people have been in cohabited before the amalgamation of Nigeria ,no wonder a Yoruba man won north with landslide in 1993 presidential election. Even in 1963 awolowo won 5states in the North. Also a real born Edo man will not vote against Yoruba ahead of Igbo man or Hausa.

I know we cannot sustain subsidy but why did you guys protest when it was removed in 2012? Oil was over a $100 so the government was bleeding with subsidy payments coupled with the corruption therein but because they hated GEJ, they couldn't see the wisdom in its removal but now the chicken is coming home to roost!
theoldpretender:
The cold reality is that we cannot sustain fuel subsidy.

And that is true under this admin. Oil has been between $30-80 since 2015. Meanwhile, Fitch says we need oil at $140 per barrel.

Meaning...there isn't enough money for subsidy.

So, either subsidy goes....and investment flows in....or we keep on taking loans.

Let's face the cold reality
Politics › Re: The Timeline Of Petrol Price Increments In Nigeria by DMerciful(m): 12:58pm On Mar 13, 2019
See how you justifying incompetence!
theoldpretender:
Here are the reasons why

1.The number of vehicular traffic has increased

2.Power supply has gotten worse...due to a host of factors (main one being that the laws governing DISCO setting up prevent them from raising prices of power which leaves them chronically underfunded...and which means no funds for power improvement)

3.Due to decades of subsidy, there has been no investment in things like pipelines, refineries, etc...because SUBSIDY forces oil companies to sell at a loss

4.Oil prices crashed in 2014...making it difficult to fund subsidy.Infact, this is the main reason why

AutoJosh wants you to see how the price of a litre of petrol has increased in the space of 50 years -from the military era to this present time - and why we should start thinking of other alternatives in order to reduce our dependence on the readily available but costly motor fuel.

This is not a supremacy contest as a man holds the cards in a relationship! You think this is the only issue, of course there will be others but he can cope with those, this particular indecent dressing he cannot cope with. Why will a man be with a woman he cannot lead? If she cannot listen eventually he might leave and she can continue her indecent dressing but know that the headship of the family will never be in contention!
Katier00:
you don't seem to get me. The op didn't complain any other aspect of his wife's behavior except for her sudden change in dressing. You can't tag that act as been disrespectful. From the paintings of the op, we can't even tell if the woman is his wife or baby mama or you can't tell tell me she ran out of her husband's house because he scolded her about her dressing. All I'm saying is that the op's manner of approach was wrong, you can't give away your relationship because of this issue. He saw a picture on WhatsApp and that is it, she is shameless. Everyone here or most people here are clamoring he leaves her, haba. I have seen people that trys to control other people's lives because they feel they own them. he said because of this, he has refused her money. Understand where I am coming from, I might be wrong but most times, issues like this are borne out of mere insecurity. He went to get a girl from a so called Christian background thinking that is were he will get a "yes sir woman"

MajorJeffery:
She is already getting attention from someone for her to be dressing like that and has now gotten the reason she has been looking for to make a move. Wait, you guys have a daughter? Is she your wife?
Never you dictate for someone especially in the area of dress code, it's rude.

You can see that your experience has made you sentimental. The Op said he repeatedly corrected her and after a little improvement she goes back. You need to understand there's a difference btw bf and husband. I myself do tell my wife few times to change her clothes while going out if I'm not comfortable with it, thank God my wife is quite respectful. A man said his wife wears clothes that are uncomfortably short, you a stranger is saying how short is short! Are you saying he doesn't know what he is saying. If a woman is not looking for market why the advertisement?
Katier00:
I didn't say so. The op should define short, how on earth do you know that she is dressing up for another man? There are thousands and one way, he could have corrected her without using those demeaning words. From experience jealous men don't like women to look good because in their tiny mind, the lady is doing it for a man. My ex told me that I should stop wearing trousers because it reveals my contours and attract men to me, so he won't take it. How can somebody think like that? I don't support bad thing but when you see a control insecured freak, you won't need a magician to tell you that. No offense to the op

Why are you supporting a bad thing? So you will disrespect your husband because you want to please other men literally? Or what does a married woman get from advertisement?
Op, there are many women looking for husband, look for one who will respect you!
Katier00:
Op make I kukuma follow ask, is that all? You need to grow up. Is she disrespecting you? Is she wasteful or lazy or is she cheating on you or neglecting her duties as a mother and wife? Why are you creating problem were there is none. How short is the gown sef. How can you tell a woman you love that you are ashamed of her? I don't know for you ooo but my late father would say, as you makee your bed so you lie on it. No use your hand destroy the beautiful thing you have

Travel › Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 15 by DMerciful(m): 7:45pm On Mar 12, 2019
Thanks for your response
Frankrobbn1:
The Canadian visa officer is particularly checking for travel history outside of your home country in developed countries like the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Schengen/Europe. If the applicant has shown short travels for tourism to those areas, that is one factor that adds a plus in the visa officer assessment that the applicant will likely depart Canada after authorized stay.

It's also important to note that travel history is a generic reason for a visa refusal. It’s very possible to be granted a TRV without a travel history. However, the applicant must demonstrate adequate ties through other factors like ownership of properties/cash in fixed deposit, spouse, kids etc.. that can compel their return back home.

Travelling to Canada for a post degree isn't enough reason to ascertain your purpose of visit to Canada. Purpose of Visit can be from the correlation between your intended program with your previous studies and job role. Periodically, poorly written and vague SOP can also constitute to the reason for a visa refusal as it also falls under this category.
Travel › Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 15 by DMerciful(m): 6:30pm On Mar 12, 2019
Are they checking for substantial travel history? Purpose of visit? Post degree studying should be enough purpose right?
Frankrobbn1:
Majority of them were refused with insubstantial reasons based on their
1)TRAVEL HISTORY &
2)PURPOSE OF VISIT.
Travel › Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 15 by DMerciful(m): 6:20pm On Mar 12, 2019
Please what were the reasons?
Frankrobbn1:
Yes I have seen over five (5) applicants in and outside of this window from last year ending until now that was instructed to undertake a medical exam and was refused after been updated as passed.
Travel › Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 15 by DMerciful(m): 6:15pm On Mar 12, 2019
Have you seen an applicant that was refused after medicals that was based on medical request and not upfront medical?
Frankrobbn1:
Have you received a biometrics validity letter? Once you receive this letter via your MyCIC account after medicals has been completed, you should expect an approval within 2-48hrs. Although, it's never certain as some applicants get refusal after passing their medical exam and receiving the above letter.
