NYSC / Re: How To Succeed As A Vet During NYSC by docyomex(m): 8:14pm On Dec 18, 2021
drgbaks:
I was sorely tempted to name this post, "How to make a N100,000 during NYSC" but that would have been a click-bait title. Although in all fairness that's majorly what this post is about.

I’m aware that there has been a lot of campaign for the government to get rid of the NYSC programme but while that hasn't happened yet, I felt, it would be a good idea to share my successful NYSC experience for the benefit of younger vets out there. Some who are yet to serve and others undergoing the experience now.

I understand that success means various things to different people but for this post, I'll be referring to success here in mostly monetary terms.

I was drafted off to serve my country, Nigeria, in 2013 after 6 years and some months of studying veterinary medicine at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria. Without meaning to sound cheeky, this is how I made 100,000 naira while serving without the N19,800 allowee:

1. Read "The Richest Man in Babylon"

I was once asked to mention the top ten books that have changed my life and after the Bible, my next is "The Richest Man in Babylon" by George S. Clason. I was recommended this book by a friend of mine who had read it during her service year and it had helped her save a ton of money. Unfortunately, I couldn’t get it before going to Bayelsa but imagine my joy when I found it on one of the booksellers stands in Camp. I hurriedly got a copy for 500 naira and put my service number details on it. I read it during camp and I encourage every vet to do so, better still before service year. It's a great book that teaches fundamental principles of money, saving and investing in a parable sort of way. IT LITERALITY CHANGED MY LIFE and will do yours once you read it and APPLY what you read like I did.

It changed my mentality about making and keeping money and this mental change helped me to save a lot of money during NYSC.

2. Invest in Your First Medicine Kit: Be Prepared for Opportunities

A good friend and classmate of mine, Dr. Wole Adekola, advised me to invest in a few veterinary medical supplies to start ambulatory services with. So, after the 3 weeks in camp, I took out 5000 naira from my allowee and armed with the essential medical drug list he gave me I went to get those supplies. That was one of the best decisions I made in service year. It wasn’t much, just barely filling a duffel bag, but it gave me confidence as a new doctor. Two, these same drugs were being sold for more than thrice the prices in Bayelsa. So that was a big bargain as well. (I got the medical supplies from Ibadan).

So, this is my next tip, if you are going to serve far away or in a relatively expensive area, try to get your medical supplies handy (even if you do not think you will practise-you can never say as I will explain in my next point).

I didn't intend to insult you don't be offended. Take a look at what you said."if he is not tackled, people will think he is telling the truth". What does the statement signify bro? I am not here to discourage anybody from medicine. It is the best in the world infact I have been saved by a doctor and nearly killed by one but the harm done these days are alarming.
I know of a guy in uniport who died of Leukaemia and he had been treated for malaria for 3years. Late Gani Fawehmi was being treated for Pneumonia for years and he died of cancer. The Lists are endless.
You have done well by saying the right and somewhat fair things. Is it that the NMA are letting things slide? There's a hospital at the back of my house that gives "Nurse Elizas" TESTIMONIAL for completion of Nursing apprenticeship.
Thank you for changing my opinion. No harm intended.
You've done a lot of research, you seem to know a lot....
I like the energy in your communication too
Keep it up bro,b don't be like Saul before he became Paul, don't persecute people ooo and you're sure for success.
You're a great man

someone can have 100000 beats and it wont be obvious..you have to feel the pulse rate and count it or take your time to interpret it on an ECG..brother medicine is beyong internet and google stuffs cos u sound like someone who is really spending time on google..
hmmm you call reading of ElectroCardioGraphy , radiographs and some test results simple? bros there some ECG tracings, radiographs and test results that can only be interpreted by cardiologist, radiologist and pathologist respectively only and those specialties take minimum of 4 years to attain after 6years of MBBS..
so you want to finish veterinary medicine and start law for the purpose of hunting medical doctors, write another WAEC, jamb all over again for law..so u will be practicing law during the day and vet at night..just look at what a Nigerian youth is spewing abeg..
av gone through ur previous posts and topics about doctors and i can say your hatred for medical students and doctors is palpable, it has weight and is occupying alot of space in your heart..the medicine u once loved and opted for in jamb is what u now loathe..zeeknow u dont have to feel that way ok, its bad energy..vet medicine is also a nice and lucrative course, its a proffesional course..it tedious, cumbersome and they withdraw students alot. pls channel your energy towards achieving great feets in your vet, its high time you started appreciating what you have now or else u gonna loose it too..vet cannot be used a second choice..it needs your passion, all of it or else u will be withrawn..thanks
To be sincere, I've also noticed it in zeeknow , I've just kept mute.
Anger, hatred or jealousy will eventually wear one who keeps it at heart.
Meanwhile, you can achieve anything in life if you want, don't just run a race because of anger, please.
May God comfort and help you.
Best wishes bro

People often assume that because a video of a young inventor is amazing, it has informed someone, but majority of these end up being just entertainment.
A group of undergraduates, past and current members of Jets club in Nigeria have decided to work on adding that educative touch to videos meant for entertainment, particularly ones relating to activities of Jets club, innovation and STEM in Nigeria.
Check our channel for amazing works we've been up to:

I came back home. It was closed to Christmas. I didn't report to my Ppa in Nasarawa. I had to call the Man to post me to Abuja again, but he said it was a gradual process. I had to boycott him and I followed another process. Abuja was bouncing back each time they try to put it. I guess more than one person was on my matter. It was already January and nothing was done yet. I got a call and was told to choose any other state, that Abuja was bouncing. I had no choice than to choose Lagos. That's how I found myself in Lagos..... And my Ppa was in Lekki and my local government Eti-Osa 3. I had 2 ppa. You want to know how?? don't touch that dial.....
Thanks for your time.
All gratitude to God and to those who made it a success. I love you.

See my guy, everything in this life is risk, make sure you score nothing less than 80 in the putme or you're a Gunner.
The putme is not hard, practice well, be conversant with decimal calculations without calculator.
know how to solve questions, read questions with speed and also with accuracy.
It's basic ssce stuff they'll ask, but you must not make mistakes.
Know how to solve without calculator, there is a way...it's important for the 25 questions in physics and also chemistry

UI putme is more of confidence than the exam itself...

Education / Re: JAMB: How A Lost Sim Has Put My Brother In Jeopardy by docyomex(m): 1:22pm On Sep 14, 2020
itzzkhaliii:
Greetings to elders, I have so much respect for this forum as person they struggle with one isissue I say ma carryam come elders forum.

It all began last 2- weeks when my brother wanted to apply for his P-UTME exam. But to do so the school he applied for required him to change his course as his cut off mark for the course he applied before hasn't reached. This is necessary for him to be considered among those that will be shortlisted to Sit for exam.

We went to Jamb CBT to change his course and go ahead with the P-UTME registration. This is where The problems started unfolding. We Came to realize that he used my mum's number to open his jamb profile, and the sad thing is that they had stolen my mum's phone with that sim in it last two months. She lived for some weeks without phone before going ahead to buy a phone and a new sim.

So when the CBT guy told us that we will need that sim for change of course to be possible. We went to jamb office here in Kaduna and they confirmed the CBT guy statement. We went for the sim swap last monday but Mtn told us that since the sim pack wasn't available she will have to do a court affidavit. We got the affidavit instantly but there was a lot of que when we go back to the Mtn office.

We have to leave it till Tuesday, we went early morning when it was her turn for the swap she went ahead but one surprising thing is that the same sim that she bought and registered by herself 5- years ago turned out to be displaying a different person pix with details.

That's where real wahala start ooo, the Mtn agent told her that there is no way that sim swap will be done because it wasn't her pix in the profile. He told her that what actually happens was that the people she bought the sim from where just business men disguising themselves as Mtn agent, they are just after to sale their sim card in order to gain profit. They will offer you a registered sim as unregistered and take you through the process of registering as if that was the exact Time the registering is taking place.

At the end we trird other Mtn offices but the same answer was given to us the only way out was to look for the person whose pix is displaying to come by himself and do the swapping. This is a person my mum has never met in her entire life she don't even know him.

Remember that she was just a victim of a circumstance that's beyond her control and anybody can fall for it. I can't even comprehend how an innocent student will waste another year at home as result of a missing sim or number.

Pls I am begging on fellow elders in the house or anyone that has been in similar situation like this or know someone that has come across a similar problem and was able to solve it to pls help my brother out he has already wasted a year at home.

Pls help me out

Well first of all, which CBT guy is saying that you need number, I still did one change of institution Last year and one change of course 2018...
They can derive the profile code using his Gmail (only in the CBT center), visit another CBT center please.
He will pay for the change of course online or generate remita and go to bank for payment then, proceed with the change of course and print the slip out.

Except ifh has done change of course more than once this year.. (just one correction is possible each year).

And for the Sim number retrieval issue, that scenario is the norm here in Lagos, they will just ask for identification number... Go to another agent, I Know MTN is my aware of this but they'll help you do it....

Please don't panic, this is a small issue

Please I need you guys to advise me.

I'm a DE candidate (used my first degree) in UNILORIN. The program I applied for was Medicine & Surgery and I wasn't admitted but I got a transfer offer to physiology on JAMB CAPS. I will ACCEPT the physiology only if I'm sure I can be demoted by the school to 100level instead of starting from 200level as per DE (there's a tradition in UNILORIN in which the 10 best 100level students in each of anatomy and physiology will cross to 200level Medicine which is not applicable if I begin from 200level). Also, I learnt that if I should REJECT the offer to physiology on JAMB CAPS, I'll be placed on the MarketPlace offers in which other universities might offer me Medicine & Surgery but it might be state or private universities which I can't afford monetarily.
Please what do you think I should do?

The market place Will only be admission from a new private university
And it might not be MBBS
Go for physiology, study hard...
Apply for DE again
