Hello everybody
I am a  beginner in stock. How do i invest in stock. please i need your advice. Hope to hear from you. email: senkelvin@gmail.com
Even if it is the last 20 pages you read, you will get good answers!

There is a guy who has been asking about AFRO OIL since whether to sell now, can't trace him again. Based on the candles (excl today's prices), it suggest the bear run i.e. downward trend is not over yet. CAVEAT EMPTY, EMPTRESS, EMPTOR, ETC.

The Decision is yours, are you long term or short term, do you believe the company has potential or you bought it at a whim, did you buy with borrowed money e.t.c?

@Dolly, Unity never reach 12 Naira kehuh its still 9 Naira.

They have to release some sort of result to stimulate interest in the impending PO, so your guess is as good as mine.
@Yodi, I Know.
I  was just simply sharing my opinion with aim of sentising holders of Unity not to be too greedy else T.S may catch up. At the same time was wondering if others had a different opinion.

Hi All,

I really appreciate your contributions towards educating people on Financial (Stock) world.

I gave a cheque of about N60,000 to my stock broker to buy equity assurance shares for me from the current market this was when it was still at N3.90k but he didn't do that until two/three weeks later when the price rose up to N5.28k.  I have noticed that my stock brokers always buy higher than the price in the newspapers anytime I gave him money to buy stocks for me.

I just want to know if this is right or is he cheating me or something by buying at higher price
He is not necessarily cheating you.

Always put a cap (i.e. maximum price you want to pay) when you tell your broker to buy and it is also good to sometimes put time limit.

Call you broker often as well to keep a rapport going on.

Sorry I know you did not ask me but why do you think first Inland is discount @N12  shocked
Uptil now they are yet to release their result (abi I missed the news ni).

I think the shares will fall immediately after T.S except they pull a big rabbit out of the hat.

You see say the reverse fit don cool down from the margin of yesterdays drop compared to today's drop.

This one no even matter. The real action go start when them drop the interim results. Q-1 and Q-2 are outstanding right now and if they are doing PO, these must comot. Na that one suppose do d magic.

I estimate they need to deliver Q-2 PAT of around N3.5B-N4B to make the stock head north. For a bank that did only N1.37B FY 06, this is a very tall order. Just my thoughts.
Was gisting with a friend who thinks Unity can get up to N15.

My stance was compare Unity with Fidelity as in what price was Fidelity when it went on T.S
And especially this days that many folks are getting wise with price manipulation and T.S shenanigan, most folks are buying on dips and quickly dumping on highs

Common, why will I buy Unity at N12 and risk T.S when Fidelity is looking at my eye korokoro.

If I had it I will bail at N10.50-N11 max

Let them bring their big mops to mop o because Unity must struggle enter N12.

Just my own observation.

Funny enough i was actually reading about ABC taking up the railway network franchise. The governmenti is in the process of ceding the railway monopoly and inviting private operators to partner with them  to run the system and guess what? when i use the word 'partner' it means the government will actually give the private operators money to run the network that will be making them profit and ABC is in pole-position!

Can u imagine?

Hmm. Just assume this is medium term and wait for GTB's full year results. Since you have waited so long, just wait it out.

There is a good chance of price rally if GTB performs as they have always done. The Q-4 is usually the key for GTB so I advice you wait for it. End of year is Feb ending and once insiders start to get wind of results and it is very good, movement go begin.

You may not even have to wait for the results to be announced. In a couple of weeks you should know where you stand. Good luck sha.
GTB
I concur with Pumping hold at least for their result.
My broker reckons a bonus is in the offing, if that is the case then your wait will pay off.

ABC
Can't really say what is pushing the price ABC Transport because full year is not due till May/June but I am not complaining on my small loot

Possible sentimentalist reasons:
It is enjoying the BULL run of the NSE
It is one of the few companies left on 1st tier which is actually in business and priced under N5 and hence potential for more yield, maybe some inurance money for fear of T.S is being diverted into it.
The stock is medium term for me

@ELDER NAPOLEON, WHY DID ABC MAKE YOUR LIST. I HAVE MY OWN REASONS FOR OWNING THE STOCK BUT WILL LIKE TO HEAR FROM AWON AGBA.

@ ABC flight is up 20% already abi I am seeing double ni?
What is driving the price I am not complaining o it's a medium to long term anyway.
Come to think of it most of my stocks are long term (except when I pulled some 2 months stunts with Diamond)

I think Risky is also on board.

Bull Market is a random market movement causing an investor to mistake himself for a financial genius.

Bear Market is a 6 to 18 month period when the kids get no allowance, the wife gets no jewelry and the husband gets no sex.

A long term investment is a short term investment that failed. e.g the Nascon 1-day sale last year

Economics is an extremely useful method of employment for economists.

The market is weird. Every time one guy sells, another one buys, and they both think they're smart.

The best time to buy anything is last year

Technical analysis is the art of drawing a crooked line from an unproved assumption to a foregone conclusion.

A technical analyst is a person who thinks that nine women can produce a child in one month.

Spend at least as much time researching a stock as you would choosing a refrigerator.

Remember the First Law of Technical Analysis: For every analysis, there is an equal and opposite analysis--so for every bullish analysis, there is a bearish one. The Second Law of Technical Analysis: They are both likely to be wrong!

We have two classes of forecasters: Those who don't know--and those who don't know they don't know!

February is one of the peculiarly dangerous months to speculate in stocks. The others are July, January, September, April, November, May, March, June, December, August and October!

A market analyst is an expert who will know tomorrow why the things he predicted yesterday didn't happen today!

Have a bullish week!

Discussion of this development takes place on The Money Show of This Morning on AIT (local and BSkyB - Europe).
********************************

In the first of apparent moves to re-instill public confidence in financial reporting, SEC has ordered the freezing of accounts of the sacked management of Cadbury Nigeria Plc.

This is coming on the heels of recent disclosures about the financial reporting of firms such as Union Dicon, NAMPAK and lately Wema Bank Plc.

In its statement yesterday, The Securities & Exchange Commission noted with dismay that while the company's accounts and the affected officials were still being investigated, some of the directors had made moves to dematerialise their shares probably to sell same.

Though SEC said the intention of the people was not known, it, however directed the freezing of CSCS accounts of persons so identified to prevent a pre-emptive sale of those shares.

To ensure that the officers’ shares remained intact, SEC advised the NSE, CSCS and all stockbrokers to be cautious in matters relating to the share accounts of the executives or officers of the company.

Two years ago, the accounts of Cadbury were discovered to have been overstated to the tune of over N5 billion.

In the wake of the company’s mis-statement, the managing director and the financial director of the company, Mr. Bummi Oni and Mr. Ayo Akadiri, respectively, were relieved of their positions so as to allow for unhindered investigation into the matter.

The commission's Statement said:
"It has been observed that some directors and senior officers of Cadbury Nigeria Plc, whose roles in misstatement of accounts are under investigation are now dematerialising their shares and lodging same with the Central Securities and Clearing System (CSCS).

The intention of this is not known. Consequently, SEC hereby directs the freezing of CSCS accounts of persons so identified to prevent a pre-emptive sale of those shares”.

The Nigerian Stock Exchange, CSCS and all stockbrokers are advised to deal with caution in share accounts of the executives or officers of Cadbury."

WATCH THE MONEY SHOW today on AIT with Boason Omofaye as we discuss this developments and more, Time: 10am to 12 noon.

but with a caveat, u see, even on green days, if there's a long or short candle wick it is still worth looking at how the intra day struggle between the bulls and bears went
Red may signal the beginning of bear market for the stock but you need to compare with previous pattern i.e. is it an engulfing one in which case you wait for a day or two to confirm.

Candles however are more for short term markets and also signals good entry point for a stock you want to go into for a long term.

@Akptogun mark my answer paper cheesy
