Former Golden Eaglets attacker, Philip Osondu, has died. He was aged 48.

Sources in the Nigeria Football Federation confirmed Osondu’s death.

Also, Osondu’s family friend, who is based in Belgium, Esther Nwachukwu, confirmed the Golden Eaglets player’s death.

“He went to work and felt unwell, went to the hospital and was confirmed dead on arrival,” she said.

While mourning the deceased, ex-Super Eagles international, Mutiu Adepoju, said he was shattered by Osondu’s death.

Former Derby and Portsmouth manager Jim Smith has died aged 79. His death was confirmed by another of his former clubs, Queen's Park Rangers.

They said: "All at QPR are deeply saddened to have learned of the passing of former R's manager Jim Smith. Our thoughts are with Jim's family at this upsetting time."

Smith spent much of his playing career in the old fourth division with Halifax, Lincoln and Colchester, but most of his appearances came for non-league side Boston United.

The State Security Service (SSS) on Thursday night released Omoyele Sowore, publisher of Sahara Reporters.

Mr Sowore was arrested on August 3 for planning a series of protests to demand good governance.

Mr Sowore first met his bail on November 6, one month ago, but he was not released. A federal judge, on Thursday morning, gave 24 hours for Mr Sowore to be released.

Inter Milan coach Antonio Conte is receiving police protection after a threatening letter containing a bullet was sent to him through the post, Italian media reported on Saturday.

According to Corriere della Sera, former Italy and Chelsea manager received the anonymous threatening letter containing a bullet in recent days.

Serie A club Inter Milan later said in a statement to Italian news agency Ansa that "the letter arrived at the club and not personally to the coach".

"In relation to the news published today, Inter Milan states that Antonio Conte did not personally receive any threatening letters and, consequently, he did not go in person to file a complaint," the club statement said.

"It was the club that received a letter and, as is the practice in this kind of situation, it contacted the competent authorities."

An investigation has now been launched while Conte is receiving police surveillance outside his home and at Inter's training ground, Gazzetta Dello Sport reported...

Justice Chioma Nwosu-Iheme of the Benin Division of the Court of Appeal has regained her freedom.

There had been reports of suspected gunmen on Wednesday last week in Benin City, capital of Edo State, abducting Justice Chioma Nwosu-Iheme of the Court of Appeal, Benin Division

The Commissioner of Police, Edo Command, Danmallam Mohammed confirmed the release of the judge

Mohammed told Channels TV that Judge Nwosu-Iheme has since been reunited with her family.

The United States Government on Wednesday said it would extend its longstanding commitment to supporting the conduct of free, fair, transparent and peaceful election in Bayelsa State on Saturday.

The U.S Consul-General in Lagos, Ms Claire Pierangelo, made the promise in Lagos while briefing some select journalists ahead of the Saturday, Nov.16 election in Bayelsa State, NAN reports.

‘’I would like to reiterate the U.S. Mission’s longstanding commitment to support free, fair, transparent and peaceful elections in Nigeria.

‘’It is our desire to see nothing less during the November 16th election in Bayelsa State,’’ she said.

According to her, the U.S. Government has assisted Nigeria with strengthening the electoral process since 1999.

Pierangelo said that since 1990, the U.S. elections-related diplomacy and programme had sought to advance three main objectives.

“First, we support a free and fair electoral process, including technical assistance to Nigeria’s election institutions and civil society in addition to our active monitoring of both general and off-cycle elections.

“Second, we consistently work to prevent and mitigate election-related violence, including peace building programmes and messaging.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State has suspended its national chairman, Adams Oshiomhole.

The State chairman, Anselm Ojezua, who made this known in a statement on a Tuesday night said
Oshiomhole‘s suspsension followed the vote of no confidence passed on him by the chairmen of the APC in the 18 local government areas (LGAs) of the state.

Recall that of the Deputy State Chairman of the APC in Edo State, Kenneth Asekomhe was earlier on Tuesday quoted as saying, “After the meeting of the State Executive Committee, in pursuant of Article 17, Section 5 of APC constitution of 2014, as amended, we the undersigned members passed a vote of no confidence on the State Secretary of the party, Mr Lawrence Okah. He is hereby removed from office.

A David Adeleke close pal contacted me with info explaining why Chioma Rowland had not posted on IG for a month in October 2018. The source said he ALLEGEDLY locked her account and in the middle of a break up. Days later the @thecableng posted something similar and David tweeted at them threatening legal action. As a reporter, I posted the allegations. What made Adeleke disgrace me in front of 20 million is what surprised me? An American citizen on US soil will never get away with that profane sexual harrassment encounter online. I was doing my job and nothing gave him the right to degrade, demean or sexually harass me. David gave his fans a license to follow suit. He later went to call me #werey cheap drug user. I asked him several times to apologise but he never did. My 3 sons were very angry. A year later October 20th one of the saddest days in my life on the same day he announced the birth of a son. I hope his daughters never have to experience what I went through. #Sexualharrasment goes beyond grades, promotion, jobs etc. It hurts EVERYONE.
