The sitting of the Ondo State House of Assembly ended abruptly on Thursday following the invasion of snakes during the plenary session of House.
It was gathered that the snakes fell from the ceiling of the hollow chamber on Wednesday and Thursday.

According to a source, the one that fell during the Thursday sitting, almost fell on the Speaker, Mr. Bamidele Oloyeloogun while presiding over the session.

The Assembly had therefore adjourned its sitting sine die until certain repairs were carried out on the Assembly complex.

Mr Femi Falana, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, has made it clear that his chambers is not holding brief for singer Mr Timi and photographer wife, Mrs Busola Dakolo.
The human rights lawyer noted that he only intervened when the family expressed fear over their petition.

Falana clarified his position in the matter in a text message to The PUNCH on Tuesday.

Our correspondent had reported that the lawyer said the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, had ordered the transfer of the case between the Senior Pastor of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly, Biodun Fatoyinbo, and the Dakokos to Lagos.

He said this was because the Dakolos were the first to submit a petition to the police over the rape allegation against Fatoyinbo.

Lawyer to the Dakolos, Mr Femi Falana, made the revelation during a telephone conversation with The PUNCH on Monday.

Falana, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, told our correspondent that the IG had assured that justice would be done in the matter.

While denying that the police authorities had refused to act on the Dakolos’ petition, the human rights lawyer said the case would be brought to Lagos because the family were the first to petition the police.

The biggest of them all is that according to the app’s privacy policy, it can use your photos and data for commercial purposes. You wouldn’t want to give your data away just to see what you’ll look like with a few wrinkles, right?

In a recent clarification, FaceApp’s founder, Yaroslav Goncharov, said the company doesn’t share any data with any third parties. Goncharov also added that users can request to get their data wiped from FaceApp’s servers.

Here’s how you can do it:

*Open FaceApp on your phone.
*Go to Settings > Support > Report a bug.
*And report a bug with ‘Privacy’ as the subject line, and description to request the data removal.

The data removal might take some time as Goncharov said, “our support team is currently overloaded, but these requests have our priority.” He added that the team is working on a better interface to make this process easy.

Italian police said Thursday they have arrested 19 suspected members of a Nigerian mob, including the leaders of a clan, called MAPHITE, which forged alliances with other mafias and violently punished anyone who rebelled.

In an operation dubbed “Burning Flame”, coordinated by police in Bologna and Turin, over 300 officers carried out arrests and searches in nine cities across northern Italy from Bergamo to Modena, Parma and Ravenna.

A two-year probe — aided significantly by a man on the inside who fed details to investigators — “has allowed us to destroy much of what, within the Nigerian community, is known as the ‘MAPHITE’ cult,” police said in a statement.

It said the acronym stood for Maximum Academic Performance Highly Intellectuals Train Executioner.

“Among those arrested were those who held a leading role within the criminal organisation.

“Those who decided on the new initiations, who ran the prostitution rings, who dominated by force the other criminal organisations, who ran the drug trade in the city squares,” it said.

Fifty other suspects were under investigation, it added.

Anti-immigrant Interior Minister Matteo Salvini hailed the bust.

The now viral FaceApp, which allows people to make themselves look old, could be a national security risk and the FBI must open an investigation into the app, according to a senior leader in the US Congress.

Investigators should work to understand the privacy and safety risks posed by the viral app, said US Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer.

The app could have put millions of citizens at risk, he said. He suggested that the fact the app is owned by a company based in Russia might mean that it being used for nefarious geopolitical ends.

“As FBI Director Wray himself pointed out earlier this year, Russia remains a significant counterintelligence threat," he wrote in the letter. "It would be deeply troubling if the sensitive personal information of US citizens was provided to a hostile foreign power actively engaged in cyber hostilities against the United States.”

The strange FaceApp photo filter, which uses AI to digitally age your face, has gone viral, with millions on social media sharing their sagging simulacrum, including celebs such as Drake, the Jonas Brothers and Kevin Hart.

However, experts warn that the free “old age filter,” created in 2017 by developers at Wireless Lab in St. Petersburg, Russia, poses security concerns that may give them access to your personal information and identity.

The Russian app is one of the most downloaded across the globe, with fans on social media using the hashtag #faceappchallenge to share their results. The tool augments your face to look double or triple your current age — with wrinkles, sagging and yellowed teeth — and also allows you to look younger, swap genders and try out a beard.

But be warned: FaceApp, which you grant permission to access your photo gallery, also includes in their Terms and Conditions that they have the right to modify, reproduce and publish any of the images you process through its AI.

That means that your face could end up being commercialized — or worse.

UK-based Digitas strategist James Whatley said on Twitter, “You grant FaceApp a perpetual, irrevocable… royalty-free… license to use, adapt, publish, distribute your user content… in all media formats… when you post or otherwise share.”

That means they can also use your real name, your username or “any likeness provided” in any format without notifying, much less paying, you. They can retain that material as long as they want, even after you delete the app, and you won’t be able to stop them. Even those who set their Apple iOS photo permissions to “never,” as Tech Crunch points out, are not protected against the terms.

Security expert Ariel Hochstadt told Daily Mail that hackers, who are not infrequently agents of the Russian government, can log the websites visited and “the activities they perform in those websites,” though they might not know the identity of the person being tracked.
But when we also give them access to our phone’s camera, they can “secretly record” someone — who could be a targeted or prosecuted member of society, says Hochstadt, such as “a young gay person.” Now the hackers (and Russian government by proxy) can cross-reference your face and phone information with the websites you’re using.

Derrick Addai, a 48-year-old man, has been released from prison in Ogun State after spending 14 years in custody due to an alleged typographical error on the list of pardoned inmates.
Reporters gathered that it took the intervention of the Osile of Oke-Ona, Oba Adedapo Tejuoso, and the Director General of the Prison Rehabilitation Mission International, Bishop Kayode Williams before he was let off the hook.

It was learnt that Addai was convicted of drug peddling in Thailand, but was repatriated to Nigeria in 2005 following the intervention of the then President Olusegun Obasanjo.

Thirty convicts, who were later pardoned by the Federal Government, had spent five years and six months in Thai prison before Obasanjo intervened.

Addai was, however, unlucky as a typographical error led to the omission of his name from the list of pardoned inmates approved by the Presidency.

Our correspondent gathered that the name of one of the inmates appeared twice on the list and that was responsible for the omission of Addai’s name.

Gambian referee Bakary Papa Gassama will be the man in the middle when the Super Eagles of Nigeria take on the Desert Foxes of Algeria in their 2019 Africa Cup of Nations semifinal fixture at the Cairo International Stadium.
Gassama will be assisted by Senegalese referee El Hadji Malick Samba and Seydou Tiama from Burkina Faso, while South Africa’s Victor Gomes will be the fourth official.

The Federal Government has collected over N10 trillion from the implementation of the Treasury Single Account (TSA) from 1,674 MDAs.
Office of the Account General of the Federation (OAGF) made this disclosure on Thursday at Peer Review Mechanism of Ministries Departments and Agencies (MDAs) 2019 in Abuja to the Head of Civil Service of the Federation.

The OAGF while making its presentation stated that under TSA, the government has been able to save over N45 billion monthly in interest on Ways and Means that it used to pay before the full implementation of the TSA.

It was also disclosed that N50 billion revenue from funds have so far been mopped from commercial banks as a result of TSA implementation.

Other achievements recorded since TSA became fully operational include the: Elimination of cash handling costs; ability to determine consolidated Federal Government cash...

Hawaii has become the 26th state in the nation to decriminalize possession of small amounts of marijuana -- but its governor cautioned it does not mean the state is ready to say aloha to legalizing recreational use of cannabis.

While Hawaii Gov. David Ige declined to sign the decriminalization legislation, the change in law will take effect in January because he took no action by Tuesday's veto deadline.

Under the new law, people caught with small amounts of marijuana will no longer face a misdemeanor charge that had been punishable by up to 30 days in jail and a $1,000 fine. Now people caught with 3 ounces or less of weed can still be hit with a citation carrying a $130 fine, but no jail term.

Ige did not put the bill on his notice of legislation he was considering for veto, but said during a news conference last month that there are things about the bill "I don't like."

"That was a very tough call. I did go back and forth on decriminalization," he said.

The U.K. ambassador to the United States has quit in the midst of a scandal caused by comments he made about President Donald Trump that was leaked to the British media.

In the leaked cables, Kim Darroch allegedly called Trump "inept" and "uniquely dysfunctional," according to a report from the Daily Mail published Sunday.

Ambassador Darroch announced his resignation after Trump dialed up his criticism of the diplomat on Tuesday, calling him "wacky" and "a very stupid guy."

In a letter to the U.K. Foreign Office announcing his resignation, Darroch said that the "current situation is making it impossible for me to carry out my role."

"Since the leak of official documents from this Embassy there has been a great deal of speculation surrounding my position and the duration of my remaining term as ambassador," he wrote. "I want to put an end to that speculation. The current situation is making it impossible for me to carry out my role as I would like. Although my posting is not due to end until the end of this year, I believe in the current circumstances the responsible course is to allow the appointment of a new ambassador."

President Donald Trump in a tweet on Monday said that the United States "will no longer deal with" U.K. Ambassador to the U.S. Kim Darroch after his blunt criticism of the president and administration in diplomatic cables was leaked.
In the trove of leaked memos published on Saturday in the Daily Mail, Darroch called Trump "inept" and "incompetent" and described the White House as wildly dysfunctional.

Darroch was disinvited from a dinner Monday night with the president at the Treasury Department in honor of the amir of Qatar, according to a U.S. official. White House officials said this is an example of the kind of treatment Darroch will likely receive in the aftermath of this leak.

On Sunday, Trump said Darroch "has not served the U.K. well, I can tell you that."

"We are not big fans of that man," he added.
