PoliticsRe: Tragedy Of An Unthinking Agitation: The Case Of The Niger-delta Militants by donborg(m): 9:53am On Dec 02, 2016
Abagworo:
Niger Deltans fight development. It's amazing but true if you must be frank. The problem is deeply rooted in psychological trauma which I suspect has a lot to do with unfounded distrust against Igbos who happen to be a very industrious neighbour. I once told my relatives in Nembe that God put us on the same area with them to use our human resources to develop their natural resources while we share the profit. Over the years that distrust has extended to everyone thereby leading to hostility. If a company wants to site a project like road or bridge some politicians will go and tell the youths that there is alterior motive driving the project which in many cases lead to resistance by youths against development. Rivers State enjoyed better relationship with companies than hostile Delta and the difference is quite visible.
They know that the youths need jobs and money hence they can be easilyswayed and deceived.Very clever of them

the wonders were there, that's what the OP was trying to tell you. Warri was once the USA of Nigeria. I remeber having school mates whose parents worked in warri, we could tell the difference. This thing is not even about FG. Lagos is lagos not just because of FG. USA is USA not because of FG. It is because the people have chosen to be sane. Is shoprite FG's investment or oil investment? All these FG rants goes to prove the laziness we have been talking. These militants are not really ready to work.
How many jobs have you provided for them.
I know you will start mentioning jobs like cooking, doing laundry, and washing plates for the white expatriates as 'good well paying jobs' mtcheeew

Who is the "them" you are referring to? Is it El Rufai? Why don't you encourage him to run for the governor of your state so that he can perform the same "magic".
You are just being clever by half. Federal fiscal lopsided allocation(in favour of abuja against the Niger delta) aside how much is the allocation to delta state compared to abuja. mtcheew

I don't no why some of us could decide to be so myopic in reasoning.... Nothing is complicated in this...If PMB is not satisfied with the nominated CJN he can reject and ask the council to forward another name...That is why he is commander in chief
He is the commander in chief today because he was elected by majority of Nigerians. The CJN that swore him in did so because of that fact. Likewise the justice onnoghen was recommended by the NJC BECAUSE he is their most senior justice. The NJC have a tradition of appointing their most senior justices for over 50 years so your commander in chief have no other choice than to confirm his appointment becos even if he rejects justice onnoghen 1000 times the NJC will still recommend him again likewise if The CJN refuse to swear in the president elect 1000 times the electorate will still elect him again.

Says who. The president can actually reject their nomination and ask for another. He can't just appoint without the NJC..
But the NJC can only recommend the most senior justice in the judiciary and that has been their tradition for over 50 years....... and justice onnoghen is the most senior justice available.
Buhari's hands are tied. The only way for him is to blackmail justice onnoghen with corruption in order to make him resign or to approve him. cest fini

Things wouldn't be this bad if the people who left power made any attempt to increase power generation

Instead they sold to Family and friends under privatization, What scares me is the brazen act of fraud , If NEPA was privatized / Sold , Why is FG having to pay them ?? Scam 1

Same thing Applies to our refineries, Instead of increasing production capability , repairing or even building new refineries, El Fortunado and PDP Inc increased less than 40 Importers of Crude to 120 Importers which comprised mainly of family and friends and partners

Some people now have the audacity to blame other people , abi ? Even Professor Peller had his limits
FG does not use power, they use lightning, bolt and thunder for their day to day activities.

I'm very sure those ipob youths will like this not knowing this is another step backward for them. I couldn't imagine how hatred for someone who never wish them bad will be this way. Even the one and only who sold their life and yet unborn is their hero. We all witness how he developed their entire region to new dubai and new York. I pity them, lagos is developing when all they know is to destroy their region. We shall see who will lose at the end.

First of all, Abuja is a city. The Niger Delta is an entire region. Big difference.

Secondly, the administration of the F.C.T did wonders with the city of Abuja. Why can't any city administrator or local govt chairman do the same with with at least one city in the Niger Delta region?

Thirdly, you still have not answered my initial question? Why aren't you holding your local and state govt officials accountable for embezzling the allocation they get.
the administration of FCT did wonders indeed. Let them do d same WONDERS in warri naa abi Warri naNiger delta region.mtcheeew.

PoliticsRe: Amaechi's Ministerial Nomination: Buhari Government Has Failed The Moral Test by donborg(m): 10:50pm On Oct 10, 2015
TonyeBarcanista:
Should Amaechi be cleared as minister of the federal republic of Nigeria? Just like the 8th Senate did for Saraki, Buhari's decision to nominate Amaechi was influenced by political consideration without regard for his integrity/antecedent.

Buhari Elevates Politics Over Principle:
While I recognise the prerogative of President Buhari to appoint men and women that he considers worthy enough to form his cabinet, I beg to ask whether the President was in a trance when he pledged to appoint only people of credible character when elected. His recent nomination of messrs Rotimi Amaechi and Raji Fashola betrays his pre-electoral position on appointing "only" credible characters into his administration. Though Amaechi and Fashola are yet to be charged before a court nor convicted, morality demands that they be allowed to FIRST clear all allegations against them either through being certified 'Innocent' by the investigators or through the courts(if they are indeed innocent) before given new political responsibilities. Buhari's nomination of these men (and others) despite the allegations against them is a testament that he upholds politics over principle.

Who Is The 8th Senate Trying To Impress?
I burst into laughter when Senate spokesman Otunba Dino Malaye was reading out conditions for screening. I laughed more when he mentioned 'Asset Declaration' and 'thorough scrutiny'. What does the 8th Senate want to do with the asset declaration of ministerian nominees when they (senators) are yet to publicly declare there own asset before the public? Are they not the same people that are led by a man that is currently undergoing criminal trial before the Code of Conduct Tribunal for declaring false asset before CCB? What thorough scrutiny will the 8th Senate subject the ministerial nominees to when only two weeks ago they passed vote of confidence on a man that is undergoing criminal trial? What question will SP Saraki ask would-be ministers? What moral legitimacy does the 8th Senate have to reject a nominee on account of alleged corruption when only recently they passed vote of confidence on their President that is an alleged criminal? Who are they trying to impress?

Kudos To Senator Sekibo But...:
My position on Amaechi is very clear, he's morally unfit to represent Rivers state in the Federal Executive Council until he is cleared of all allegations against him. I sincerely commend my very own senator, George Sekibo for submitting petitions to the Senate on behalf of the ever loving people of Rivers state. But I have to admit that I don't see the petition scaling through for two reasons; One, the President is well aware of these allegations but he has shown that he doesn't care; Two, the 8th Senate is led by an alleged corrupt official that is presently under trial before a tribunal. There is the burden of moral legitimacy hanging on their neck. However, Amaechi's confirmation or otherwise cannot invalidate the allegations against him.

Nigerians Must Decide Where They Stand:
Nigerians are a special set of people. The people that went on protest in solidarity of Tinubu when he was being tried before the CCT, are the same group that were mocking a certain group that were protesting and showing Solidarity for the alleged corrupt Bukola Saraki. The group of people that were insisting that Saraki should not be tried for corruption is the same group that is crying that Amaechi and co should not be cleared due to the corruption allegation on their neck. The group that was calling for the head of Princess Oduah when she spent N260million on TWO cars in 2013 is the same group that defended Fashola for spending N78million on personal website. The group that defended Oduah then is the same group that has been calling for Fashola's head. Are both groups not confused and contradicting themselves? Is it proper to support misconduct when it suits us and oppose same when it doesn't? It is time for us as a people to define what we want and what we stand for.

Finally, by nominating Rotimi Amaechi and other people of questionable characters to serve as ministers of his government, President Buhari has betrayed the public confidence that was reposed on him on March 28. Like his predecessors, he has shown that he is ever ready to 'suspend' his principles in order to reward political allies. Indeed, President Muhammadu Buhari belongs to some people, he doesn't belong to everybody.

May God Bless Us All

LivingDiamond:
Politics is a very deep game, sometimes you have to bend your personal principles and roll along with the situation @ stake. I think that's exactly what happened in Amaechi's nomination issue. PMB on a good day wont go for Amaechi but He just have to do it just for the issue hanging on it. Amaechi's role in bringing Buhari to the throne can't be overemphasized, but what I'm very sure of is that any of the ministers appointed either devil or saint will dare not try sh*t under Pmb's supervision. So lets be optimistic and believe our country Nigeria is on its path to greatness..
