PhonesRe: The All New Blackberry Passport Smartphone by donhils: 1:10am On Jul 17, 2014
romoruyi: BlackBerry is fighting a battle to remain relevant in the smartphone space, and it has two new products in the pipeline that it hopes will reverse its fortunes. While the company has shown off both the new Classic and the Passport, it’s the latter that has garnered the most attention.

Until now, we didn’t know much about the Passport other than the fact that it featured a wide QWERTY keyboard and an unusual 4.5” 1440x1440 display. For the BlackBerry fans out there that cling on to any new release from the Canadian company, CrackBerry has posted a user-written, pre-release review of the Passport.

On the “square” screen:

The screen is one of such elegance, that it even made the most diehard iPhone user smile. It's got one of the sharpest screens out there and the UI that felt cramped on the Q10 now is unleashed in a fashion that renders you hopelessly in love…

The screen is everything on the BlackBerry Passport. They finally figured it out. It's the focus here and also takes over a large amount of the duties of the keyboard. At a whopping 1440x1440 pixels, the screen is pleasantly bright and gives everything more space.

Processors specs are unavailable at this point, but other hardware features were revealed:

This model has 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of on-board memory, though I did add a 64 GB SD card myself. Finally, there is an easily accessible nano SIM slot to allow for easy SIM switching without the battery interfering. With it having an internal battery which lasts forever, BlackBerry put the SD card slot and SIM slot on the top of the phone inside of a removable panel.

About that new keyboard:

So how does this work? It works in a fashion never witnessed before. The symbols, characters, numbers and everything else is on screen and intuitively changes depending on where you are. If you are on the compose panels contact list, you will get the numeric buttons on the screen and if on the body portion, the symbols and character can be invoked.

This was of course a prototype device and not every feature was functioning properly. It was also running an older version of BlackBerry’s flagship operating system (10.3.0.428), so performance and software features should be further fleshed out by the time it is officially released.

Is the Passport enough to get folks out of their Apple iPhones and Samsung Galaxies? Probably not. But it’s at least nice to see BlackBerry looking to differentiate itself in the market with the Passport.

MarkMiwerds: Amos 3:3 asks the question, "Can two walk together, except they be agreed?".

An interesting question indeed. A question today could be asked why so many who claim to be walking with God disagree with His Word? Are they truly walking with God?

God said in Leviticus 27:30-33 that His holy tithe is agricultural. Are you in agreement with God? Are you walking with Him?

God said in Numbers 18:21,24,26,28 that He gave His tithe to the Levitic tribe of the children of Israel. Are you in agreement with God? Are you walking with Him?

God said in Deuteronomy 14:22-27 that a second tithe was to be taken to a Jewish Feast and eaten by the tither before the LORD God. Are you in agreement with God? Are you walking with Him?

God said in Deuteronomy 14:28-29 that a third tithe was to be given every three years to feed the widows, the orphans, the Levites and foreigners in Israel. Are you in agreement with God? Are you walking with Him?

God said in Nehemiah 10:37-38 that the firstfruits were to be taken to the Temple storehouse in Jerusalem, and the tithes were to be taken to the Levites. Are you in agreement with God? Are you walking with Him?

God said in Psalm 147:19-20 that His statutes and judgments were given to Israel and Israel alone. Are you in agreement with God? Are you walking with Him?

God's Word tells us in Acts 15:10 that it is tempting God to tell Gentile Believers that they are to keep the Mosaic Law. Are you in agreement with God? Are you walking with Him?

In the last chapter that tithing is mentioned in God's Holy Word, we are told that the commanded tithe is the same agricultural tithe commanded in the Penteteuch more than 1500 years earlier. Are you in agreement with God? Are you walking with Him?

Are you in agreement and walking with God? or have you rejected His decree and chosen your own path?

Proverbs 14:12 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
listen, quoting so many bible verses is not what will convince us that you actually know what you are saying. when you read all these places, do you actually read in context? or you just pick one verse and read? do yourself a favour when they (pastors) quote these verses for you, try reading some verses above and below it so you'll understand very well. Running a church needs money so pastors look for a way to take it From members. suddenly everybody starts quoting old testament.

PhonesRe: How To Stop Spam Texts And Calls From Telecom (GSM) Service Providers by donhils: 12:45am On Jul 10, 2014
miracle4: This already seems to be the new trend in town, GSM Operators have assumed the position of spammers and marketing experts. Hardly can one have a peaceful 24hrs without getting those unwanted, unsolicited and extremely annoying text messages and calls from Telecom Service Providers.
As the yeah draws closer to a halt, we have figured out some really helpful insight to help you put this silly trend under control.

What seems to work already with “MTN Nigeria” Subscribers

Prior to this time, we have discussed in details (link here) what seems to be a solution to Nigerian subscribers using the MTN services.

What works for every other Mobile Telecom Service Providers

This set of solutions should work for you irrespective of your mobile telecommunication services provider. It takes into account; apps, tips and tricks to put this annoying marketing campaigns under control.

Using Nigerian based telecom services providers for example, you should already be familiar with these frequent occurring numbers; 4100 (usually from mtn), 4040, 8888 (usually from glo) and 8181 (usually from airtel).

These numbers don’t matter much, all you need do is to take note of the numbers that is frequently used by the telecom services providers as you will be making use of it in the proceeding step below .

Now that you have identified the numbers?

Now that you have figured out the regular culprits, blocking them completely will no longer be an issue. In this part of our tutorial, we are going to list out 3 proven methods to blocking this numbers from calling or texting your line.

1. By Using Apps

This method will only work with smartphones, tabs and phablets. It is achieved by installing recommended mobile apps based on your mobile phone operating system.

For Symbian – There is NetQin Mobile Security 5.0
For Android – There is call control
For iOS – There is iBlacklist
For Blackberry – There is call blocker pro & Call Control Too

Now that you have installed the proper apps based on your mobile operating system, you need launch and locate the blacklist options, then add all the offending numbers to the blacklist and save.

2. By Using Apps with support for Auto-blacklisting and Community Blacklist features

If you aren’t using your number for bank related activities, installing and activating this kinda apps should be the best option for you as it will block all private text messages, anonymous calls and SMS or calls from short code numbers and/or unknown sources.

Calls and Messages from Spammers, telemarketers, debt collectors, marketers, politicians, advertisers and other unsolicited calls’ offenders will be automatically blocked when this feature is turned on.

There are fewer apps with support for this feature for most mobile phone OS except for android that has a handful of such already including call blocker and Mr Number.

3. By Using the in-built phone Functions

Most phones including features phones has the feature to manually add numbers to your blacklist or “do not disturb” category. For smaller Samsung Java, Chinese Phones, Most Nokia and other feature phones that comes with this option, the settings can be found under settings ==> phone ==>Calls ==> blacklist, screen list or “do not disturb”.

For Samsung Smartphones, Tecno Android , Gionee Android, HTC and other brands that comes with this feature, the settings can be easily located by going to ==> contacts ==> click on the number you wanna block (or manually create a group containing this disturbing numbers)==> click for more options and locate reject list or similar. For most android smartphones with this feature, you can also ==> tap and hold the number you wanna block from your call log list ==> select add to reject list or similar.

MarvellousGod: Pls, is it true that airtel bis is now unlimited? ? That once I exhaust my 6gig or 2gig, I can still have access to net till the expiry date?
Nonsense
PhonesRe: Airtel Bb Plan On Android by donhils: 5:54am On Jan 09, 2014
cotzywitzy: This will show you how to get 4GB of data for
just 1500 Naira on Airtel Nigeria for 2 months,
Note again, it is not unlimited but 4GB and
works well on Computer PC, iPhone, iPad,
Android, Nokia and pretty much every internet
devices.
Steps:
1. Load 1500 Naira Airtel credit
2. Now dial *440*161#
(If it tells you that you are not eligible or
the code didnt work then your SIM will
not work for this you can dial *440*16#
and you will be given 2GB instead for
N1500 )
Yes! That’s all, you now have 4GB To check your
data balance , dial *141*712*0#
NOTE:
The plan might not work yet on your device, so
load an extra N100 naira airtel credit then
activate 10MB plan by dialing *141*11*1#.
It works well with airtel’s default internet
settings:
APN: internet.ng.airtel.com
username: internet
password: internet

And also if you want 80MB for 100naira simply follow this step... load 100naira and send bbud to 440.

Enjoy
I bet you don't use this 4gig thing cos it was stopped on 31st Dec together with all the 2+1 offers. All the offers have been stopped so you can now only access 2gigs at 1500.

Obviously you are not in this world or have never subscribed to any data plan b4.

PhonesRe: Why You Should Buy A Samsung Device Instead Of Tecno by donhils: 11:30pm On Dec 30, 2013
indigold2010: I just ran into this topic. And if with all my years of working on the Android platform and I don't comment then I have left most Nigerians mislead. The name is techno the other is Samsung. And for those of u even comparing that name to techno to the name Samsung, I guess u have been paid by techno to help promote their cheap hardware. Now let's start with hardware.

Samsung hardware is far too superior for techno, techno have to sell their phones cheap so they don't have to spend too much money on making a hardware to compare with the likes of Apple Nokia Sony or HTC. But that's the category Samsung belongs, the competitive zone. Samsung has to build their hardware to meet the standards of other oem's but techno don't have to cos they believe Nigerians are dummies that will use anything sold for a price that equals a waste product. Samsung uses some of the best chips in the mobile industry, the exynos chip and the snapdragon, what those tecno use? Some worthless chip with bad processing power. Samsung uses some of the best display technology in the super amoled display, what those tecno use? Some screen looking like a phone of the early 2000. And for the battery Samsung phones pack very powerful chipset which requires good energy to process data at a fast pace so the battery has to be at his best. Techno phones don't really need powerful batteries cos they already have a chip of no value and display is like a wrist watch. As for the cameras, Samsung packs some very good cameras that can compete with Apple Sony and other oem. But tecno 5mp equals the 3mp on a Nokia Asha phone, what a shame!.

Now let's look at their software, the only reason why apple(crapple) keeps taking Samsung to court in my own thinking is cos they can't cope with the kind of innovation Samsung brings to software design. Smart stay, smart pause, smart scroll, air gestures, smart commands, multiwindow, pop-up play, spen innovations and many others. My friend tecno phones lacks innovation all they do is pack an unbacked Android os into some cheap hardware.

Now let's talk about updates. When u buy a Samsung device at a high price it is because u are paying for other services as well which includes updates. Tecno doesn't care about updates. If u buy a Tecno device on Android 4.2 that's the end of the life of the Android os.

So my fellow nairalanders am not pushing Tecno of the way totally, if u can't afford a Samsung device then buy a tecno device to get a taste of Android but when u decide to compare Samsung to Tecno that's were u been very ignorant and very biased.

The Nigeria market isn't wanna of Samsung strong hold so Tecno innovation doesn't really bother them as a company.

I conclude by saying buy Tecno if u can't afford Samsung but by Samsung if u can afford it and stop been mislead.
Tecno vs Samsung I guess. But have you considered my darling LG that there's none like it? Lest I forget, Samsung abi samdung packs all the claimed software and processors yet they lag and hang a lot. Some of them get so hot that u can just pour a lil oil and fry egg on it. Again the body build is very cheap and plasticy. The worst body build among its competitors.
