Hey, my uncle finally made it into the under 17 group after failing 3 times to join the Super Eagles. Always told him to shave his 'bear bear' with coke bottle. ![]() *dancing azonto* |

Woged2005: . Igbo language is in dialects, and differ in what they call things. But the treatment u described looks very much like a popular treatment for 'convulsion' in most Igbo communities. They claim the baby sees scary images that make her convulse violently, cry persistently usually closing her eyes and locking her mouth. The baby is rubbed with 'Nzu' (white chalk) and given concoctions presumably to scare away the scary monster when it comes back againSorry dear, but it is not convulsion (aka 'ose' in Igbo language). 'Nnta' is more like an open skull condition. The 'nzu serves as a plaster/cement which holds the skull together while also preventing inflow of air. |
I can't categorically tell you the English/medical name of this rare condition but I can assure of it's existence. From your description of the traditional medical care provided, I'm certain the baby will be alright in no distant time. There's certainly no need for your friend to go the extremes in his panic. He should know that not every word or condition in Igbo language has an english meaning or interpretation. Traditional medicine still provides potent cure and treatment to certain illnesses and conditions. |
jude33084: You have actually earn yourself some likes bro Firstus du commentusGod bless you for sowing a seed in my life. I just logged in to see 147 likes and still counting. ![]() |
kaeto: you won't get even 1 'like' because you typed this long gabbage for 'likes'. I might even steal the show..Please, go back and count my 'LIKES'. You need to learn to have FAITH... ![]() |
Good The environment we live in Nigeria has trained us to be uncertified detectives. The mentality of the 'next person is a suspect' has been programmed into our subconscious. Little wonder Onazi, even while eating (relaxing) still kept monitoring movements around him which enabled him to identify the mugger-boy. God bless Detective Onazi... PS: Frontpage Material ![]() *Firstus Tu Commentus*![]() ![]() I'll be back to count my 'LIKES'. ![]() . . NINE HOURS LATER: Thank you all for sowing a seed (LIKE) into my life. You can imagine the feeling of shock and ecstasy when I logged in only to meet the picture below: https://www.freeimagehosting.net/t/3w6x3.jpg Today has been a good day. The most memorable day of my stay in Nairaland. The highest number of likes I've ever received in one post was 91. But look at me today, the story has changed (wipes tears). With only 8 days left to my NYSC POP, my hardcore Tiv principal shocked me today by giving me 93% on my Form 2B assessment sheet. Oh, I'm so overjoyed. Please, lets continue sowing the seed (LIKE). Just maybe it might turn to some figures in my bank account. Thank you all once again... ![]() |
Billyonaire: This is not a protest, this is just an alliance of disgruntled elements who have been banned again and again by a disciplinarian Moderator. This protest does not represent the views of the important nairalanders but a bunch of people who are afraid to fall in line with rules and norms.Billy, please can you elaborate more on the above bolded? Monicker citations/quotations are necessary as well... |
Wey my phone charger? *runs around in search* In Nigeria, time na electricity (no be money). |

lari03: Nice to see fear appeared in this episode, this is why a true story beats fiction anytime, any day.You come across as one in the social science field. Good point there. Those are the major thought pattern of an average choleric. |
At this moment that I reaaally needed to say something, I find my hands tied and so is my mouth. I wish am not a sexuality writer. Wish am just a regular reader whose views on the controversial chapter will not be misconcepted, misjudged and mis-quoted. I have no doubt Zubby will understand my position from the above. ![]() Laws 4, 25 and 46 |
iukpe: My concern is not about my kid's school but rather at my kid's interest in learning. He is 3 yrs and 5 months old, and has no interest in identifying numbers or alphabets. However he can recite rhymes, say the numbers a bit above 1-10, he is very good with people's names but will not do anything when u ask him to. He will not concentrate when your trying to show him, he will shut his eyes and if you try to get him focus, he will cry. He also will not trace lines or connect dots or make meaningful progress to learning.Hmmm, such erratic behaviour does have a relationship with >>>schizophrenia or its elder brother >>>autism but I pray it ain't any of them. Might just be normal child behavioural trait gotten from the parents. |
@OP, Sorry to say this but they (mostly private schools) are turning your sweet son into a ROBOT (programmed machine) with little or no basic social traits which is even what is greatly required of a person to survive in this present environment of survival of the fittest. Go to Madona, Caritas, Renaissance etc and there you will find intelligent dummies that behave little kids still feeding from bottles. |
