Christianity Etc › Re: Is There A Need For Pastors To Have A Sound Biblical And Theological Education? by donnie(m): 10:02pm On Sep 11, 2009
I remember growing up as a young christian how i devoured the scriptures and saught God with all my heart I grew quite fast (thanks to the kind of ministry i belonged to- we are taught the word raw with practical sessions). In a short while, i began to teach  the Word to pastors from other ministries whom i had as friends. They will invite me to come preach in their churches but i'll say "No sir, go see my pastor".

I said this to say that God has endowed our nation with ministry gifts  but not very many church ministries know how to partake of these various gifts given to the body.
Most of the preachers we have in our country are evangelists. Not many teachers. You do not learn this teaching gift or earn it. It is not bought and sold. It dosnt come by fineness of speach or of accent but by the Holy ghost who gives freely as He chooses. It is one of the five- fold ministries: Apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, teachers. Eph 4:11-12.

The evangelist may preach and inspire the people  but only the teaching ministry brings the people into a union or participation with the message that is preached such that the people leave the place with the mentality of victors and they overcome when faced with  challenges because now they know how to use the word by themselves.

Pastor Chris Oyakhilome is an annointed teacher of the Word. He is a gift, not just to Christ Embassy but to the body of Christ all over the world. That is why the God will do it for you message is not popular at Christ Embassy. The people are being brought into their inheritance in Christ through the teaching of God's Word. That is why i feel sorry for those who fight or speak evil against the man. Because they fight the very help they need. . . just as they did Jesus. That's why I am excited to be in church, cos its a time of fellowship with the Word and the Spirit. It's a time to hear God speak to me one on one. The pastor speaks from the outside but there is another teacher speaking on the inside at the same time.
You are motivated to put the Word to work for yourself and testimonies abound everyday to the glory of God.

I remember years ago we went on street evangelism and a young girl who joined us tried to convince a man of Christ but the man argued, refutting her claims  about Jesus, calling himslef an atheist. Then all of a sudden the girl spoke by the Holy ghost, you have a sick mum at home and mentioned the exact illness. The man was in shock at hw the girl  got to know and surrendered his heart to Christ.
This is the kind of christian upbringing i have.

We study the word and give ourselves to training as though our lives depended on our study.
We fast and pray as though our lives depended on prayer.
We evangelize as though Christ is coming today.

Reminds me of what my dad used to say about the Resecrutian order, calling it a phylosophical organization until i recieved the Holy ghost and began to walk in the power of God, making known the truths of the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ.

dem neva born the mason wey go successfully operate for where me i dey.

Even if he rejects or refuses to read the copies of Rhapsody of Realities i will send to his house,
his gateman will, his house maid or driver will. It wont be long before his children begin to question his activities and insist on the Lordship of Jesus.

You gather together but unto whom do you gather for fellowship? In whose name and under whose authority?

Supreme being? That's the lie satan told you. You do not need to build an image in satan's name to be called his. Your rejection of the gospel of Jesus qualifies you as such.

It does not matter by what means you operate or by what name they go by, the masons will only grow poorer and poorer, less and less influential in Nigeria as long as Jesus tarries just as the gospel grows and prevails. This is Nigeria, not Europe. Even in Europe, the light is shinning brighter and brighter with each passing day.

The last day of the just concluded Higher life conference with pastor Chris in Canada climaxed with an audacious confrontaion of the kingdom of darkness as many were delivered from oppression under the dominion of satan unto the liberty of Christ. Hundreds hurried to the front after each meeting to be born-again. Another conference is holding right now at the Wembley arena in London.

Halelujah Jesus conquered the world, hallelujah satan you are in trouble, the Lord reigneth in my life today.

Chai! these Americans enh.

If you like to fast religiously, why not try the catholic lenten period? Why Rammadan? What they need is the gospel preached in love and power and not all this religiousity. At least we have the UN for all such diplomacy and peace-keeping and for searching out TERRORISTS/ SUICIUDE BOMBERS.

Na wao; before you know it, he will tie turban and enter a mosque in the name of religious tolerance.

I mean, if he wants to backslide, why dosnt he do it quietly? Must he take others along with him?

Yes we love them but must we follow them to hell because we love them?
Christianity Etc › Re: Man Of God Desecrates Ogboni Shrine by donnie(m): 9:51pm On Sep 10, 2009
Well, I think his motives are kinda in the right direction, but am not too sure of the action he took.
I mean, you dont need to tear or burn the cloth or chop down the tree to send the demons packing.
That wouldnt help since they could move in to a nearby bush or animal if they choose to as they are desperate for a habitation.
All he needed  to do was just touch the tree and say in the name of Je . . . and they'll be off.

I remember a story my MOG told us of how as young guys, several years ago, himself and some friends went preaching from village to village and came to this village that had a shrine where the juju worshipers came to worship. Himself and his friends laid hands on some items and moved on. Later that day, the priest and some others came to worship and discovered the spirits were gone. They chanted and shook themselves and nothing moved them. They went after these guys, got them and asked for what they had taken out of the shrine. 'Nothing' they answered, we only laid hands. . . Well, before the angry villagers could start beating them (as they had brought out sticks), these guys took to their heels cool

Wow! good topic for junk magazines(i am aware that nairaland has become quite a good resource).
The only problem is that you might not get direct payment (except of course the payment for sin).
Why not try putting it in a small mini book. Yap, it wont cost much to print. Just a stupid picture on the front page of a man with horns, a tail, a beard, a black suit and a bible in one hand will do.

Look for some stupid fake, hungry 'pastors' (who were not sent but went) and give to them to sell in parks and bus stops.
It will even sell faster than those breaking of curses/ancestral covenants/ 666- beast/blood-sucking demon/ mammi water books.

. . . we cover the vehicle, the driver, the roads, the tires, the engine, even the police at the check points with. . . <Lord forgive them for they know not what they say>. . . . U can give god an offering now. . .  nothing too small. . . oya driver, carry go!

you little rascal.

Both men cannot be right, one must be an agent of the "devil". But somehow you think both were called in the same way. . . . Are you okay?[/quote]These issues have been in the church since bible days. At some point when these questions arose about Paul and his minisry and there were misunderstandings, he was given the opportunity to defend his apostleship and his ministry before the church council who judged according to the Spirit and not according to tales from others outside.

I pray that the church in Nigeria will grow to that level of maturity in Jesus' name.
Christianity Etc › Re: The Poison Called Prosperity by donnie(m): 9:15pm On Aug 28, 2009
The problem is not the pastors. The problem is you. How come you are always falling into the hands of thieves and robbers. Don't you have the Holy ghost leading and guiding you?
Any pastor that will ask members to give for the furtherance of the gospel and then convert the money for personal use is digging his own grave. It will not be long before he dies.
There is a Spirit that sanctifies offerings brought into the house of God. I don't know about u but where I worship, the pastors are the first and manytimes, the biggest givers.
Christianity Etc › Re: Saint Dikeji Miyerijesu Nigeria's First Saint Ordained By God! by donnie(m): 11:19pm On Aug 27, 2009
Before I comment on the topic of the thread, let me first sound a note of warning to those who prefer to speak against or insult anyone who comes in the name of the Lord. To come in the name of the Lord means that they function in the Lord's stead and in His authority so be careful because the Lord himself sent them and will not forgive acts of blasphemy against the Spirit.
I have watched the man a couple of times on local TV in Delta state. I see him and his calling in the same way as those of William Branham, T.B. Josuah, and the founder of RCCG. They were called having the least qualifications, humanly speaking but were mightily used of God. They trusted and relied solely on the Power of The Holy Spirit.
For Branham, the hand of God was upon him from childhood, ever before he read the bible. God spoke to him audibly. T.B. Josuah, and saint Dikeji had the Anglican background while the RCCG founder had the Cherubim and seraphim background. They did not fit into the acceptable religious norm of their day and could easily been called cultists or strange because of the call of God on their lives which they surrendered to.
It's usually after they had lived and gone that the church realizes what they had in their midst but did not take advantage of.
However, I do not agree with Spirit of the topic as it is not according to revelation. I can understand anyway, looking at his background as Anglican where just like catholics, men are only recognized as saints after they might have died. A saint according to scripture is one who is a friend of God, just, sanctified and righteous. In Christ Jesus we are consecrated, sanctified, justified and righteous. WE (believers) ARE SAINTS! The early church addressed believers as saints while they were alive and not after death. Paul in his many letters addressed believers as saints.

As for the needy and provision for them, we don't just have one feeding campaign, that's a regular affair. I heard d pastor of CEC in Calabar spent no less than 3 days celebrating his birthday this August with widows orphans and the less privileged all over the city(including the no less than 30 kids housed, fed, clothed, educated and empowered by the church right in the premises) to whom he also gave gifts of money, food, clothing. All he had for his bday was given out. I quickly sent money down there to be part of such a great blessing.
I remember throughout the month of Dec last yr, CEC Lagos fed no less than 3000 kids every blessed day during the 'send portions campaign'.
So its our nature ok. We don't need to be taught that, at least not on nairaland.
This is reach out Nigeria where we fulfil our calling and responsibility as the salt of the earth and preserver of our nation as we disciple millions through the Rhapsody, teaching them to serve others and not wait to be served. To love their nation and its people and how not to tear down anyone who seems to be Making positive impact on the nation and its people.

The annointing of the Holy spirit will teach, guide and prosper anyone that yields himself to it. Get into the word and declare it under the annointing day and night over your life. @Sir John

Wow! for the first time, i think i agree with you.

I also had some of those books and materials.

But donsn't that tell of what God is doing to His church in these last days?

Not only that, i also know of some other things which the church has made deliberate efforts to correct.

For instance, i remember a time when we could have cell meetings or outreaches at the beach or poolside. That too was stopped.

As bad as ignorance is, it is not as bad as knowing what is right to do and refusing to do it. That is what grieves the Holy Spirit.

In the time of ignorance God overlooks, but now commands all men everywhere to repent.

Funny enough, those with whom he is said to be friends with or walking is same manner as,

by that same message, seem to have something to address or change.

Benny Hinn's ministry popularised the use of the dove symbol more than any other that i know of.

T. B. Josuah at some time even had doves flying around the church auditorium and perching here and there.

The church is not yet perfect, but we're getting there and that's why Jesus still tarries.

It is really not a topic for heated arguements, it's a call to repentance

for this is the time of the manifestation of the sons of God who are led of the Spirit.

Therefore, the Holy Spirit should be known for who He really is and not represented by objects, or animals.

No doubt Pastor Chris Oyakhilome is an apostle of God. He delivers the messsage he is given unreservedly.

What about a preacher devoting a complete teaching series to the topic: The Mystery of the annointing oil. Is that okay by you?

What is special about this oil that we cannot get from water or any other substance. Water is purer, less expensive, a cleanser and equally capable of carrying a rubb-off of the power of God . Why oil?!

Abraham gave tithes as an act of faith and not according to the law for he lived before the old testament. We are children of Abraham.

The law included tithing as a commandment because there was a blessing attached. Remember that the law came by Moses.

In the same way, love always existed for God is love. But there was a commandment to love.

Abel gave his firstfruiits, not in obedience to the law but as an act of faith.

We, by the same Spirit of faith do the same.

God honours faith, not obediennce to the law of Moses.
