Qc1: HI, I'm asking this question on behalf of my son. He will finished his HND accounting next year. Should I advise him to write ICAN and skip BSc. or should I tell him to go for MBA in Canada? (I'm not sure if this is possible without a B.sc tho.)
Thanks If you can advise him to write ACCA and accept option of Btech in Accounting from Oxford Brooke's University, UK then he may not need to enrol for Bsc again ... He should be able to proceed to Canada for MBA afterwards using his ACCA and Btech as entry requirements because HND doesn't enter MBA oo ... I doubt ! .. I know for sure HND doesn't enter MSC! |

Trojan8: Just go for economics if you feel that you can do it. I majored in accounting, I won't want to say that I regret it though but then I would have done something else. You just need an ICAN to become an accountant, so with your degree in economics it should be pretty straightforward for you. I am not saying Accounting is bad, just saying that you can still become an accountant without having a degree in it. You regret studying Accounting.... You don't even know the value of what God gives you ... you should have studied Adult Education now .... Who regrets Studying Accounting.... After Economics that's covers all aspect of Economy next best discipline is Accounting... In fact, an Economist without the knowledge of accounting is a useless economist and an Accountant can operate efficiently and effectively with a small knowledge of economics... That's why an Economist is always advice to go for ICAN or ACCA or CFA(There is accounting module in CFA) if not ordinary Economics may not take your far except you sabi road ... Ordinary economics will take you far if you advance your study via MSC and PhD in economics or any of her specialisation .... With Accounting... Just B.sc and ICAN/ACCA/CFA is enough to take you to the world or atleast Nigeria !! Who regrets such a very Discipline with a Cabal body called IFAC .... Accounting is one of the most prestigious course in the world and one of the most protected Job in the World !! |

oyeb15: Economics cover accounting. Accounting is a second grade course like Mass Communication. English Studies and Linguistics and Yoruba cover Mass Communication
Most of the men in CBN are economist. Kai, dem don waste money send this one go school .... Imagine English is a second grade course... course wey dey turn people wey sabi into Millionaire.... and Imagine saying Economics covers Accounting? Pick a secondary school economics textbook and Secondary school accounting textbook and check the two for comparison .... The only sense in your post is CBN and CBN is all about Monetary Economics.... I can also tell you that most of the men in the Office of the Accountant General and Office of the Auditor General are Accountants .... Most Companies have more Accountants than Economists .... |

mrrandomguy: Option 1 1.Go for BSc Economics, since you already have HND in Banking and Finance. 2. Write and pass the CFA exam (if you have money) Or sit for the useless ICAN where you will be told to learn a craft/trade during your induction. 3. Prepare to study Economics up to PhD level (if you fail number 2)
*Note* BSc Economics alone without additional qualifications in Nigeria is useless. YOU WILL SEE THAT MOST PEOPLE TELLING YOU TO DO BSC IN ECONOMICS ARE ALSO SAYING YOU SHOULD WRITE ICAN. WHY WASTE 4 YEARS STUDYING A COURSE THAT WILL BE USLESS TO YOU.
Option 2 1. Go for BSc Accounting. 2. Write and pass ACCA or CFA (if you have the money) 3. Go for MBA.
----------------------- Save this on a word file and print it out. See your Badagry Coconut head there ... ICAN must have done you "shege" for you to call am "useless" .... ... No vex ...!! |

I'm a pure Accountant(B.sc, M.sc, One paper to Chartered) but I will forever Cherish Economics .... Next level is Business Economics for me .... Go for B.sc Economics and start writing your ICAN immediately then your Economics skills will help buttress your accounting skills in providing Business insights and combine both knowledge will help you to be well grounded in economic indices and interrelationships (Micro and Macro) and Business view (Accounting and Management) ....... You will be a very good business manager with the knowledge of the two discipline and when you speak ... Other professional will hardly countered you .... Because you are an authority in Business world that's if you know your skillset ooo ... If you don't want to do ICAN or you are very concerned about the Market .... Pls Don't do B.sc Economics alone without 2'1 you won't go far .... B.sc Economics job market is scarce because Accountant is needed in most if not all organisations but Economist are not needed in all organisations... Accounting has better market prospects than Economics ... Pls go for B.sc Accounting jeje .... Accounting has better market than Economics ... I repeat! The only way you can be relevant as pure economics is if you top it up with Msc and PhD in Economics if not ... OYO ooo ... of course long leg can do anything !! Also with B.sc Accounting.... You are not far from Treasury (Money) .... Accountant are not far from Money ... Economists talk too much and they can even be arguing within their own brain ... Classical vs Neoclassical vs Keynesian ... In Accounting, we only have IAS/IFRS/IPSAS to abide by and once you didn't violate any of the principles ... Shikom !! |

Earthstorms: The 30% to the north should worry everyone, both southerners and northerners.
Why ?
It is being earmarked for a failed cause, decades of forced oil exploration in the north has not yielded positive result, this money is being planned to pay northern politicians and their contractor collaborators to fraudulently search something that will not be found. They will simply share the money among themselves. The north and other parts of the country has more pressing problems that can be solved with this money.
2. This is money that ordinarily should have gone to the federation account and be shared to all states and local governments in the country, if the 30% payout is not stopped every state will lose this hugh money to a few northern politicians and their contractor collaborators.
3. 30% to the north and 3% to the host communities is insulting to the host communities, how do you think the host communities will respond to the insult on the long run, this will not encourage a peaceful oil exploration activity.
4. They are planning a legal stealing of the oil wealth of the south and the revenue from the industrial activities in the south. Since they are targeting nnpc funds, even profits from petrol importation and consumption in the south will now be forwarded to the north.
5. This is Abacha's PTF version 2. Remove oil subsidy, channel the profits of the oil mostly consumed in the south to the north. Who told you the North will use the 30% for oil ... They will use it for tools to take over South .... I pray for Southern Nigeria ... My fulani name is already Bukhari and if na kanuri take over ... My name na Adamu ... If na Hausa take over .... What's left on your contacts is what they will have in their database.if u input a new contact and sync,it will update in their database,if u erase and sync,it will erase from their database. But you know it will not matter if they copy all your contacts the first time you downloaded their application and clicked allow .... Any other synchronisation will just be copied as 2, 3, 4 ... etc .... Deleting contact and sync to google as a means of hiding only works before you download the apps (First time) and give the app the permission to access your contacts ..... If I were them ... Race is defined by nature due to adaptation of a species to an environment over time ... That doesn't have to do with philosophy!!
