I'll let you in on why I did what i did. I'll use a business as an analogy
Imagine I wanted to start a business and had limited resources, to make the most of my resources and be profitable it would require me to pick a niche and operate in that niche (It could be selling my products/services to a certain group of people or making products/services for only a certain group of people). It would be easier and cost-effective to just take a small cluster of people and serve them, that way I can grow in paces I can handle (not too fast not too slow).

For me to serve everyone I would need to have products for everyone or offer my products to everyone which in turn would mean I would need lots of operating costs, and possibly more hands.

In this case, resources here refer to my time.

Notwithstanding if you have questions you can always put them up, If I don't have answers someone else might.

for Background, I studied Business Administration. I have worked in the Real Estate, media and Manufacturing industry. I worked in sales.
While in the University i loved statistics i always enjoyed the classes and did very well at it and i did wonder if i was in the wrong department and I think it's beginning to add up. Either way I see my sales background as a big plus it's brought me to this very point and given me life skills I would not trade.

Data science is multi-disciplinary your background whatever it is will always be an advantage and can be the thing that sets you apart.

Follow your heart and do it the way you want. There is nothing like discrimination in wanting to focus on your gender. It is true your gender is intimidated by men. So, do not let them bully you. Thank God it is happening now. Lol. Imagine you have these ones in your group, imagine how they will be talking to you or addressing you. They will even want to make your audience start having doubt in you. Na so dem dey do. Very nasty set of people. I know them well. And I always say it to their faces. However, there are still some cool guys. They will even help your feminine team. They will even come to your meetings to teach you and assist all gals. And they will be the ones who will even start introducing your girls to other cool headed boys. So, I know it's not about discrimination.

God will assist you and push you forward to achieve your heart desire in Jesus' name.

There is nothing like discrimination of gender. She knows how her gender finds it intimidating going into this area. So, she wants to concentrate on them. She knows what she endured with males to get help. I keep saying it that these kids are nasty. Most are. I know the attitudes she would have gotten to discourage her from those nasty boys during the time she needed help. Now that she is talking sense, the same nasty gender is attacking and bullying her to force download what she has learned in their own format. Leave her alone, let her speak to her gender the way to attract them. Must it be your ways? She is narrating her story in a simple but detailed way. It must not be the way you boys always do it. Must it be? The approach she is using actually appeals to women. If she goes by with the way that idiotaa up there wants, she will not get the attention of her gender, all nasty empty idiotaaa brains will come just like how you sre trying to bully her to accept you. Learn to have a good way to talk. Be humble. You cannot bully her to accept your gender too. Ask politely.

Let me tell you one thing, you are as exactly as the other idiooota up. If you are humble and you ask her questions, with the way she has been responding, she will answer you. I see her style wanting mainly women as a way to get only cool headed and avoid nasty people (you better be polite). Na you go teach her who to accept and who not to? Nothing is wrong there. So, do not bring your bullying attitude to frustrate the lady. What you all cannot do, she took the boldness to. Read her sacrifices.

And them, one useless idiotaaa up there said she gave half info which is the dangerous. M.umu somebody. As soon as I read that, I know the guy is empty. How can one read the things this lady put down and not add one plus one to get something, and come up with a decent question for her to give more I sights here? Na that person wan solve problems? No innovative brain. This is why I keep saying it, the attitude of these trashy programmers is something serious.

But even at that data analyst, business analyst or financial analyst role, the main objective is master all the skills in that niche (sql, tableau, advance excel, power bi, python etc) and be at the top of the food chain.

So I'm getting connection request mails and people trying to reach me for mentoring and networking.

Well, I would like to say that I'm not in a position to mentor anyone, I actually feel awkward about it because I honestly don't know how that is done and if I am in a position to do so, however, I understand the importance of having a community of like minds with people working together to make themselves and the next person better, So I am considering a Facebook or Telegram group (Not yet decided - Still thinking of the best medium)

And maybe some conditions/rules etc. to give the group some purpose

1. It would most likely be a female thing only (No offense to the men in this thread but I think it's much easier for men to navigate the Tech world than women)
2. It would be for Data Analysts/ Scientists who have actually started their journey or currently in the industry. (There's no point having people with just intentions).
3. There would be active participation and contribution from everyone (Look at it like you are coming to build the community not just take from it- It would be a joint effort.)
4. The group would be about starting a career in Data Science, Finding Project partners, Finding career opportunities for Data Scientists Inside and Outside Nigeria.

Let me know if this is something you want, I'm open to your opinions.

You're new and just testing the waters, You're most probably still pumped from all the motivational talk and from seeing how much Data scientists earn. This way you get to be sure that you want to go all the way before putting time and resources into it.
