A 17-year-old secondary school drop-out, Felix Obus, has been arrested for beating his 65-year-old grandmother, Alice Onome, till she passed out, after she accused him of stealing her N20,000. According to reports, Obus was drunk before he pounced on his grandmother. Onome had accused Obus of stealing her money which she had allegedly set aside to prepare for another of her grandchild’s naming ceremony and vowed to report him to the village elders for proper punishment. This, reports say, did not go down well with Obus, as he reportedly left the grandmother and went to drink some liquor and upon his return, confronted the grandmother and the altercation degenerated into a physical confrontation. The teenager allegedly attacked his grandmother and beat her untill she lost consciousness. A neighbor, who spoke on anonymity, said: “As he was beating her, the woman fell down and started foaming in the mouth before she slipped into unconsciousness. She was then taken to a nearby hospital where she was resuscitated. “The culprit was later arrested by police officers from the Abraka Police Division, as he tried to escape.” During interrogation, Obus reportedly confessed to committing the crime, but claimed he reacted out of anger and was under the influence of alcohol. http://dailypost.ng/2015/09/07/police-arrest-teenager-for-beating-grandmother-to-stupor/

A former governor of Kaduna State, Alhaji Balarabe Musa, has said that it was clear from the assets listed by President Muhammadu Buhari in his public declaration of assets that he is a multi-billionaire, who also wields enormous power and influence and cannot therefore be seen as a peasant committed to the well being of the less privileged. Though the Second Republic governor noted that the declaration was better late than never, he said he doubts what the President declared, adding that it was at variance with the low profile and ‘poor man’ posture the president had wanted to foist on Nigerians. He said: “Before the last election, Buhari had given us the erroneous impression that he was a poor man, requiring bank loans to buy nomination form and run his campaigns, but now he has shown that he has cash of N30 million, huge investments in companies and banks and farm assets. “By this declaration, it is clear that Buhari is one of the wealthy and influential Nigerians, who wield enormous power. He can therefore, no longer pretend to be among the poor masses and I doubt if he can still effect the change he promised the poor. We are therefore, waiting and watching to see the expected change.” http://dailypost.ng/2015/09/07/buhari-is-not-the-poor-man-he-pretends-to-be-balarabe-musa/

The South African High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mr. Lulu Mnguni, on Friday commended President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration efforts at fighting corruption. Mnguni stated this in Lagos, adding that the president’s efforts would not only enhance the country’s overall development, but also positively reposition the image of Africa globally. According to him, it was imperative for Nigerians to support Buhari’s administration’s ongoing effort at fighting corruption. Mnguni said: “We strongly appreciate the role President Buhari in trying to play in creating an environment that is corruption-free in Nigeria. “Obviously, Buhari’s commitment to fighting corruption in the country will attract more investors and development to Nigeria. “We all need to know that it is no longer for self-serving but that the time has come for politicians to serve the people. “We all must know that Africa as a continent is always being condemned for our inability to fight corruption.” The South African envoy expressed optimism that Nigeria’s ability to fight corruption would also reduce corrupt practices in other African countries. The High Commissioner also restated his government’s resolve to strengthening its, “strategic partnership” with Nigeria in the years ahead. “We strongly believe that when things work in Nigeria, they will also work in our own South Africa. “South Africa will always see Nigeria as her strategic partner,” he said. http://dailypost.ng/2015/09/04/south-africa-commends-buharis-anti-corruption-war/

Legislative aides to Senators and members of the House of Representatives have concluded plans to paralyse activities at the National Assembly on Monday. The officers are taking action due to the "non payment of their severance gratuity and Duty Tour Allowances,DTA”, amounting to about N9bn. The protest is directed at some of the Directors in the Finance Department of the National Aseembly. They are kicking against the unconditional delay in the payment of staff salaries. As a result, they have threatened to expose the discrepancies and lack of transparency at the National assembly if their demands are not met. When contacted, a member of the 7th National Assembly Severance Committee while defending the rot in the system put the blame for none payment of the money to the inability of President Muhammad Buhari’s to form his cabinet , “we have no authorized signature to pull out the money for payment. It is only a Minister of Finance that can sign such amount and release fund for such payment.” http://www.nigerianbulletin.com/threads/nigeria-nass-complex-might-be-closed-down-on-monday-over-aides-n9bn-allowance.117036/

A commercial vehicle driver, identified as Ekpe Okpo Ekpeyong, who stripped naked in an attempt to evade arrest by officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Cross River State, has been arrested. The road safety agency disclosed that the driver would be made to undergo a psychiatric test before being prosecuted. Ekpeyong, who was stopped by the corps on Tuesday, had alighted from the vehicle, stripped himself naked and started behaving funny to the amusement of the FRSC officials and those around. While reacting to the arrest, the state Sector Commander of FRSC, Ikechukwu Igwe, said the command had gone through its database and discovered that Ekpeyong’s driver’s licence and vehicle particulars were not genuine. Igwe further stated that Ekpeyong would be taken to the Psychiatric Hospital, Calabar to ascertain his mental state before been prosecuted. http://dailypost.ng/2015/09/03/frsc-officials-arrest-naked-driver-take-him-to-psychiatric-hospital-in-cross-river/

Sen. Lekan Balogun, a PDP stalwart and Osi Olubadan of Ibadan, has predicted that a new party would emerge from the PDP ahead of the 2019 general elections. Balogun disclosed this on Thursday during the monthly Guest Forum of Oodua Newspapers held at Ijikodo, Ibadan. “I foresee a new party emerging out of the fall of PDP from power after the 2015 elections and not that the All Progressives Congress has taken over. “Some members of the party have gotten to a point of no return and I think they could break away,” he said. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the PDP, which came to power in 1999, ruled the country for 16 years. Balogun said that the party failed in its re-election bid because its leadership refused to listen to the advice of elders. The former lawmaker, who took a cursory look at the collapse of the PDP in Oyo State, warned APC not to make the same mistake. “The fall of PDP in Oyo State and at the federal level is dialetic. “ Former President Goodluck Jonathan was good, but some of his ministers and party men did not help matters,” he said. Balogun, who claimed to have sent several text messages to PDP leaders in Abuja advising them without any response, said he predicted what happened to the party. He said that the extent of the damage to the party’s fortunes was more obvious after the elections. Balogun also said Nigerians should be patient with President Muhammadu Buhari over allegations of lopsided appointments. “Appointments are made based on principles of intellect, character and national spread. “ President Buhari is a very disciplined leader and I know he would address the issue in subsequent appointments,” he said. He, however, called on the National Assembly and the executive to work together to promote good governance. On creation of Ibadan State, Balogun said this was desirable but negated by the prevailing paucity of funds. He said: “Take Oyo State for instance where government cannot pay workers and teachers salaries. “ Would any sane person be talking of creation of Ibadan State again?” He also said the late Premier, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, was noted for his Free Education Programme, wondering why Gov. Abiola Ajimobi’s administration would stop payment of SSCE fees and also impose N3,000 education development levy. Balogun also expressed reservations at the failure of the state government to conduct local government elections after four years. He said this was not only against the tenets of democracy, but contradicted the principle of rule of law. (NAN) http://dailypost.ng/2015/09/03/new-party-to-emerge-from-pdp-senator-balogun/

A 57-year-old pastor from Brazil, Sobrini Valdeci Picanto, has revealed that Jesus Christ blessed his manhood and consecrated him with heavenly semen of the Holy Spirit. According to Inbraziltoday.com, he allegedly urged his church members at Faithful Apore Assembly to always practice MouthAction with him, saying that his semen was sacred, referring to it as divine milk of the Holy Spirit. Picanto was reportedly arrested in Apore, Goiás, Brazil for raping several women attending his church, with the notion that his penis had been consecrated with divine semen of the Holy Spirit. One of his followers, unnamed, said: “He convinced us that only God could come into our lives through the mouth. Picanto, usually after church service, asked us to do MouthAction on him until the Holy Spirit came through ejaculation and delivered funds to the church.” The follower further disclosed, saying, “Picanto claims to have had an encounter with Jesus in a brothel and gave him the mission of spreading the sacred semen throughout the state, beginning with the Faithful Apore Assembly which he is overseeing.” A delegate of the Apore region, Denise Pinheiro, said: “Valdecir was caught red-handed while rubbing his manhood in the face of a local merchant, which promised to make more sales in her business due to the divine liquid.” http://dailypost.ng/2015/09/03/pastor-carries-out-oral-sex-with-members-says-his-manhood-is-blessed-with-sacred-semen/
