80% of people that speak in tongues are speaking under their own control,,, I dont just know why most people force this gift upon themselves.....everybody can not have the same gift, some are not supposed to speak in tongues but teach, sing, etc.....moreover st Paul stressed that if you speak in tongues and they is no one to interpret it then its better you don't and shut up.....see Christians of this time the vex me o

Seeing People celebrate getting MBBS is so depressing for me right now!!
Not that I don't wish anyone well right now

please I need your advice , I'm currently a 200L student at adeniran ogunsaya college of education.. a part time student (lectures are only on fri-sun) I teach in a primary school during the week with an average salary of 12k... I'm thinking of dropping out because I think I've made a terrible choice, I think I'm going to take jamb again next year because I'm really depressed right now..some of my friends back in secondary school are already graduates right now
I feel your pain....I am somehow in a similar situation..... my brother tells me this; "never you compare your self to anybody" and whenever I remember that, it takes away my depression...... just focus on yourself.... you are all you've got....things would surely be well......it takes only time

I guess you just have passion for medical field
You have to b specific about your goals in life.
And I think it's high time I speak about this to every aspirant ...
Okay ,what's the basis of your passion really?
Is it to save lifes?
Is the monetary aspect?
Is it that you want to b respected for being a doctor or wareva?
Is it the pressure from home?
OR you want to prove to people that have underated you?
Truth be told ,many people are deluded about medical ambitions. You need to have at least one solid reason for going for what you're going for not vague and ending reasons.
I won't tell you the best reasons because inside of you ,you know the reasons that can't fail you along the way .For you to survive as a medical student or medical practioner without lamenting on minor hurdles you may face along way ,your reason for starting the journey must be solid enough to fall back on when little challenges arise.

With resilience, tenacity, dedication and huge commitments, nothing is unachievable..
It may take years but those traits are synonymous to greatness.
I couldn't see myself complete without studying Medicine and it was a great motivation for me.
People may take tag you stupid' with your current situation and decisions but trust me, you're wiser and after all, all these years of struggles will pass away.
thank you so much!

MrEgghead:
Over the past fours years, I've been a strong admirer and a follower of this thread..

Here, I met a lot of personalities whom their words had been a source of encouragement in my staunch pursuit for a place in the Medical school.

The founding fathers of this thread in Lagusta, Josh, Ashashacash, DrHesjay and a host of others with their constant contributions deserve mentions.

Bobola07, Historian, and many of whom I met on Ibadan's thread deserve mentions also. If I drop my former monicker, I believe many of you would accede with me that its been a long way coming.

I gained admission into a course I had never wanted but chose to accept it on the virtues of family pressure and the fear of being left behind by my friends but It was a decision I've cultivated ambivalent feelings about. I became a shadow of my old self, my results were nothing to write home about in my second year; I had many carry overs and this was as a result of jamb exam coupled with hatred for the path I've chosen, though I'll be done this year; my recovery was just God's grace.

But to cut the long story short, I've just been admitted into Medicine and Surgery by the University of Benin making me a full blown member of this thread and I dedicate this success to God and every member of this thread, Thanks and God bless you all.

mhen!!....I am in a similar situation.....offered a course I had no interest in, got in because of my parents and fear of being left behind and I have been a Shadow of myself since then with very shameful grades and on the Verge of being kicked out....ur story is inspiring bro.....reading it gives me hope and strength, knowing that someone was once in my condition and he pulled through. congratulations once again....I tap from ur blessings...... I know God would see me through

Even from final year, pharmacists start working as locum pharmacist. Then after internship, they are in high demand. They start earning a 6 digits salary right from internship. Pay is regulated by PCN.

Above all, the greatest satisfaction is in knowing that you have a specific role you play in the society. I mean, patients come to you and you are able to give them something that cures their ailment or guide them on how to use their medications to get the desired therapeutic effects. That is better than studying a course you'll end up roaming about and trying to claim other people's profession because you were deceived while in school that "you can work anywhere".
ok sir....thanks for ur reply

I can understand where op is coming from. Some courses are not just marketable in Nigeria. I studied biochem before going to study pharmacy. During my stay in the labour market, i saw hell. 90% of my course mates in school have not gotten any reasonable job 6years after graduation. Even those that have done masters! It is that bad!
The truth is that most of those BSc science courses where designed to train researchers and teachers of those courses, but that can only be feasible if government and wealthy individuals and organizations provide research grants and scholarships to our universities. In the west, enough grants are made available to universities to carry out researches and from such grants, graduates of those courses get enrolled to study up to PhD and become full-time researchers/lecturers.

For now, I won't advice anybody to study those courses, except if their parents are wealthy enough to support them through further studies or secure a job for them. Instead of studying those courses, the person should go learn a skilled work or a trade. It's better that way tbh.

as a pharmacist, how long did it take u to get a job and what is ur pay like? are u ok with it?
