@RSA

They are world champions alrite. Supported the Boks all the way to the Trophy.

But jeez, whats with SA teams in the Super 14.

The Bulls were terrible this year, just one year after taking the trophy.
The Crusaders crucified them in Pretoria.

The Sharks were hardly any better, though they made the semifinals.

The Stormers were a pleasant surprise though. Jean De Villiers is a stud Center. cool cool

Looking to see how the new Bok regime will cope though. I know there was a lot of hoopla
over over Peter De Villiers appointment. I hope he succeeds.
Plus he has promised some free flowing rugby. I know the likes of Francois Steyn and J .De Villiers will
flourish under such a transformation.

E be like say you dey related to WESTERHOF.

That would explain this attachment.

Like I said, na memory loss dey affect una

Westerhof caused me as much agony as Vogts did, during his tenure.

Losing 5-1 to Algeria, losing to Ghana in the ACN semifinal, losing out
to Cameroun for the Italia '90 stakes. . . . . .

So forgive me if I am not as enamored as you are with the Westerhof period.

your brain sure shines as bright as a NEPA bulb.

I guess your recent stint as a Youth Corper has made
you a discipline freak. tongue tongue I wonder how you cope

behind when you face the chalkboard. cheesy cheesy

Now listen, I have not defended any recent coaching
oversight, have I? I just don't see the point of going back
when we really should be moving forward with local coaches.

This idea that we can return to a regime that was
easier to establish 14 years ago, frankly qualifies you
to be errrrr. . . . a noble Nigerian schoolteacher. grin

Why don't we call back Bonfere Jo then? He won us
an international title of some repute, did he not?

Or better, the stoic and contemplative Yemi Tella. Let us call
him back from the grave.

Hmm. . . .

You both make it seem like yesterday Westerhof coached the Super Eagles.

Jackal, you were still in diapers when this man last took charge of a Nigerian team.

Nigerian soccer exists in a different context now both locally and internationally.

In the Westerhof era, the national team was a shop window for players wanting
a European football contract. Our players don't need the team as much now. If someone like
Westerhof tries to instill some kind of Abacha era discipline, players with any clout will
laugh in his face.

I have a heard a lot of clamoring for Westerhof to come back
because of his previous 'success' leading the team.

Me, I am against it. No more Foreigners, no matter how much of a tan
they might have acquired.
Sports › Re: Road to World Cup 2010 by doyin13(m): 10:22pm On Jun 02, 2008
Westerhof oversaw the halcyon days of the Super Eagles
but how much that was due to his technical ability or
the fortune of having a strong crop of players to work with
at that particular time is a moot point.

Sharapova crashing out of Roland Garros is no surprise for me.

I haven't seen her this year, but her foot work on the surface is shall
we say not Dancing with the Stars material.

Those long legs keep getting in the way of sliding towards the ball.

JeSoul:
cheesy I am once again planning to attend the inevitable parade that will happening downtown Boston in a few weeks cheesy
Why do you think it won't be a good series? is it because the Celtics will let Kobe be but demolish the rest of the LA squad? cheesy
All LA needs to do is keep it close in the 4th quarter and Kobe will do his biz.

Odom is not the mismatch problem for Boston as he was for San Antonio and particularly the Jazz I think.
They will probably put Posey on him or Powe or Big Baby cheesy cheesy

And if those two victories in the regular season are reasons for your optimism, remember, Gasol was not
part of the Lakers team at the time.

Allen will probably be the x factor again. The lakers have several defensive specialists they can put on him, notably
Kobe and Vujacic.

Garnett and Pierce(I expect a monster series from him) will prolly get theirs. Will Allen though?
Sports › Re: Absolute Peak: Jordan Or Olajuwon? by doyin13(m): 10:04pm On Jun 02, 2008
I don't want to seem dismissive of your topic, but I think it is
disingenuous to posit a centre as 'best' when they can barely
dribble the ball from one basket to another without falling over
their feet.
Sports › Re: Tennis Is Interesting Again! by doyin13(m): 12:27am On Jun 02, 2008
I haven't been watching too much tennis lately until today that was
with the Mathieu-Djokovic match and it would seem Tennis wisdom has been turned
on its head.

They were serving and volleying with such frequency on a clay court shocked shocked shocked shocked

I don't like it. . . . . . . . .Those long rallies make the French my favourite major,
and all this play at the net is anathaemic to my palate.

And with back court specialists reigning supreme at Wimbledon,
it would seem that grass is the new clay and vice versa.

I'd rather we didn't to be honest.

From an economic standppoint I am all for it, but Nigeria's politics is complicated and Americans are
not good at standing aside where internal affairs are concerned.
